Coldplay on 'The Graham Norton Show' May 30th
Not sure why the band feels its necessary to do these shows. I thought Chris wouldn't do Graham Norton again after last time but I was wrong. I find it he still feels intimidated and shy when hes not around his usual audience. But they showed great professionalism around the once-funny macfarlane guy. They probably know how much he hates and ridicules them so its great to see they're not fazed at all.

Most played Ghost Stories songs!
Same here :) Although I still single out Ghost Story and listen to it more.

Criticisms with the album?
You guys sure are an adamant bunch. I really didn't like MX but there was no reason to spend my days spreading hatred and writing essays on the forum on why I didn't like it. I chose to not listen to the album and let everyone else enjoy it. I wonder what your reactions would have been if Parachutes was released now instead of 2000.

How is Ghost Stories after the release mania ?
I continue to love it even more as each day passes by. Easily in their top 3 albums to date!

Where do you want Coldplay's sound to go?
^ My thoughts exactly. Of course we can dream! And I was super excited they finally played A Whisper.

Whats with all the MX hate?
Thoroughly agree with all you said. My anger with the album lasted for quite a while but its over now and we can all move on. Ghost Stories was a turning point for the band.

What rating will Pitchfork give to Ghost Stories?
Guys they gave AROBTTH a 5.1. I wouldn't care if Jesus himself writes the reviews, that score makes anything they say invalid.

Why do you love Ghost Stories?
:D I know! Take it as a playful remark; nothing sinister :) Thanks everyone for your great replies keep them coming.

Why do you love Ghost Stories?
To get us started, I for example love the fact that its an exhausting emotional roller-coaster that begins and ends unlike anything they've done in the past. I love the mood, the beautiful strings, Guy's dominance throughout, Jonny's heavenly guitars and Will's creativity with the drums. I also think Chris' vocals in this album are his best for a very very long time. And I love it because 'Ghost Story' ;)

Why do you love Ghost Stories?
Every Coldplay album provokes wildly different and at times opposing reactions amongst fans and critics, particularly after X&Y. This album however seems to have divided people more than their other albums, similar to what we witnessed after Mylo Xyloto was released. But I for one absolutely love this album and the era as a whole and the connection I feel with the songs is unparalleled. So to express our love and appreciation for Ghost Stories and to counter all the negativity and the ridiculous "Criticisms with the album?" thread (ridiculous because it was started about 10 minutes after people listened to leaks for the first time!), I would like you all to tell us what it is about the album that you really love?

How Coldplay Is Providing You With A Service (And Why You Should Be Grateful)
Opinions are like arseholes, everyone has one and everyone on the internet is an expert on everything. This is a good example. He doesn't even know how many records they've sold!!

Critic ratings.
How could a band, people you've never met basically, engulf such a deep hatred in a human being?! I'm lost for words.

Lowest rated Coldplay album on Metacritic
Chris: “With this one I feel like we made exactly what we wanted to make. It’s a strange feeling because we've only really achieved that once or twice before. To me, we've made a flavor of ice cream and we made it really well. Some people may not want that flavor that day or might not like ice cream. It doesn't make me question that we should have made it. This is something we specifically designed. It isn't for everybody. It’s never easy when someone says, ‘I really don’t like your music.’ In this instance, there’s nothing I can do about it, ’cause this is exactly what we were supposed to make.”

Don't be so selective with comments my friend. I also said right after that "even they sometimes fuck up". Meaning Grammys and Rolling Stone and other respected critics also make huge mistakes with how they view some artists' work. I was referring to the original post that questioned Metacritic's score and that of critics in general. I do hope you've understood me now.

Exactly. Grammys is the only entity with the credentials to praise or not praise music. And even they sometimes fuck up! We'll see what Q think about the album soon.

Jesus this place is getting so depressing and negative! Its a shame some of the more active hardcore fans are missing these days.

Criticisms with the album?
Thank you same here :) Thats exactly how I felt towards MX. Just different tastes in music I guess. What I've noticed from the people around me and all fans in general is people who appreciated their older work are a lot more happy with this album than fans who were introduced to the band during VLV and MX. Thats my observation anyway. The band's biggest issue is that because of their ever-changing style and approaches to making music their audience has grown too big and no matter what they come up with, some will most certainly be disappointed. IF they were ever to go back and produce an album entirely similar to Parachutes and AROBTTH I'm afraid a lot of people will just dismiss it as boring and not "happy" enough maybe.

This is just insane on so many levels. They have created one of their best albums to date and I'm sensing a lot of people just aren't "getting" it!

Which pre-album period have you enjoyed the most in the past 10 years?
Absolutely brilliant thread  I'm not sure yet. Its between VLV and GS but I need more time to think!
