Interesting that they said that most of the album was done in the Bakery, just the four of them with Brian standing around in a circle playing - only a small amount reccorded elsewhere, like the singing in a church or nunnery or whatever it was.

Yeh, standing out on this album for me are the drums and the strings. Will's drumming is class all the way thru, especially Strwberry Swing and Viva.

Weeeellll..... I've fallen in love with Yes, but don't think Sleep Chant is as good as it could be. But as a combo I think Lovers & Reign work the best together. They fit better - so I'd vote LiJ/RoL Loving the combos tho' - something different.

Musically it's the best song I've heard for ages. The strings and eastern influences are awesome. It sounds both sublime and weird in equal measures. They've come a far way away from Shiver if you ask me. :) Sleep Chant's growing on me now too, wasn't too fussed at first

Yeh, Lovers'll make a good single. Nice and upbeat. Should be Yes though. Viva won't be an official single release, they've not released any titular album track as a single before.

DAAOHF sounds like they've been listening to Oh Superman by Laurie Anderson too much. The Escapist reminds me of the Parachutes lp, especially Spies - very mellow.

yeah, "bit flat" - great little snippet of studio talk, makes me think of Mal Evans counting the beatles in on Sgt Pepper

Love Viva La Vida - my 2nd fave song on the new lp (Yes is the fave) loving listening to Will banging his bell - gawd, that sounds rude ;)

Yep, couldn't agree more - who cares if a song is cool or not, if it's a Radiohead clone or not, if it's over produced or not - if it gets you tapping your foot, if it moves you to tears (in a good way!) If you enjoy it - then ENJOY it!!! :cool:

Hi, I've lurked around here a bit lately with all the new Coldplay news - so thought I'd join in all the excitement over the new album :D I've eaten half a bag of jellybabies and am listening to a new Coldplay album - I'm not gonna get any sleep tonight - my head's buzzing!

I voted Viva - for me it had to surpass X&Y , as that's the cp album I go back and listen to time after time - X&Y had one song I disliked (twisted logic) and I know it's early days but I don't think there is a song on Viva that I dislike so far, altho Violet Hill is starting to get on my nerves a wee bit just cos I've heard too much. ;) Parachutes was a great album(and till is of course) but I find it a bit dated now, and Rush of blood's song quality definately sags in the middle. I agree with someone above - I like coldplay's progression thro th albums - each one improves on the previous one for me, which is as it should be. Anyway, I'm very pleased with Viva - a good mix, some rocky bits, some softer elements and quite diverse. 10/10 :D
