  1. basic notes (helps for chords i guess): F (THE major note in this song),Bb, Db, D,G the start i think is kind of: F in the left hand/bass; right hand: F C F^ Eb F^ (F^ = an octave higher than the "normal" F) by the way: it's an really really AWESOME song, one of the best ever! i'm now on it and try to get the chords, then i'll try to find some bass and guitar to it... i got some pretty good sounding drums to it already, though honestly, chris is often out of the rhythm ;)
  2. i think you are talking about a simple "Hold Delay" you kick the pedal, you play, kick it again and it's repeated until you kick it another time so the recipe would be kind of: LOADS AND LOADS OF REVERB (as much as you got) + little chorus/phase + slight distortion + hold delay + volume swell (/pedal) i'll give it a try ---- edit: 'ts shit! well, i haven't tried a lot, but i guess a hold delay won't do it
  3. so... can anybody tab that?! (yes it's easy, though i'm lazy...) he's also doing some chords/power chords or anything
  4. TyM218: i use shure sm78 splintercell37: i'm a linux-guy, i abolished windows ;)
  5. i do ------ i have tried it and well... it's shit, far far far too many noises (produced by my amp =( ) i tried it with a mic, way better but still some noise. where sould i upload it (not youtube or any kind of that...)? file: MP3, size: 353,5 KB (361952 Bytes), length: 22sec well, the sound is just a rough try, but to my ears it's ok. when you cover stuff, it's always an approach, not 100% exact, but who wants that anyways? the record itself would sound better with the rest of the song and if it was mixed/remastered properly, i suppose. however, don't kill me for killing your ears... ;) -------------------------------------------------------------- here's the rapidshare link: http://rapidshare.com/files/254876278/lij-lead-intro.mp3.html (remember: it can be downloaded only 10 times)
  6. AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME!!!! i got something really nice out of my fender tele thinline, zoom g2.1u and my kustom 30w amp. i'll give you the specs in % Phaser: before drive, modulation rate: all the way up Drive: overdrive (equals Boss OD-1); Gain: 48%; Tone: 20%; Level: 100% Reverb: Hall Reverb: Decay: 100%; Tone: 100%; Mix/Level: 100% AMP: Lead Channel (=with dist.) Gain: ~1/12 = ~8.33% Volume: 50% Effects: Chorus+Reverb: Level: 100% Tele Thinline: Volume: 100% Tone: 100% PU: Bridge + Neck PS: How should I record it?! i actually use my zoom for that purpose... but i cannot switch the amp before the zoom.... i got a mic, though i guess it won't help putting it directly into my pc... i'm missing a pa system with phantom-electricity-thingy-stuff...
  7. well, isn't it jonny in white shadows with the od? you can see him playing that bass riff.... honestly, a bass is a weired instrument to give some fx...
  8. and a wahwah, for what ever !! i honestly didn't know he was using any effects at all... could you please give me some examples? (Song - Effect ?)
  9. what types of guitars would that be? Tele thin tele deluxe les paul jazzmaster well, achtually 5 if you'd say acoustic too, but if you'd be more correct it's four again, because the tele deluxe are for chris... well, i haven't seen jonny using it... ok, i've never been to a coldplay concert, but i see videos & pictures :D
  10. it's not that unknown at all, ha ha ! :D :laugh3:
  11. i'd use loads and loads of reverb, distortion mid way up but at high level... and 2 delays, both set at "2" (2 miliseconds i guess, however: EXTREMELY short) with 100 repeats and at full level that's what i'm trying at the moment, works e-bowish on certain notes (depends on delay, 2 = C# is sustained, probably due to some weird recoil; 1 = B)
  12. new question: is Chris using a Gibson SJ-200 in 05/06 ?! (see glastonbury 05 and toronto 06)
  13. (-deleted, was doubled somehow...-)
  14. me too =) Yamaha CLP-202 however, i also have an old piano, though it could work again, the strings won't stay in tune because the wood at the back part for the screws is like... screwed! (it's also standing in front of an oven, used throughout the winter... NOT good):laugh3:
  15. dito though i think the pure piano sounds (= NOT fix you...) might be mixed, digital+acoustic. but that's just a guess what MIGHT be possible....
  16. what ist generally the most "natural" way of picking up a guitar ?(except microphone) piezo? i mean, what gives the most typically acoustic guitar sound through an amp?
  17. So, up to 2006/2007, Chris (not so often Jonny) used Martin Guitars. 2007/2008 (Viva La Vida time) he started using Gibson Blues Kings. But my qustion now is: How the heck are they recorded/picked up?!?! Piezo Pickups under the bridge, piezo pickups glued onto the wood (inside/outside), magnetic pickups in the hole, microphones inside, whatever? however, i want to get a new guitar, this time it should be an acoustic guitar. my FIRST acoustic one. i'm mainly playing coldplay, so: what form would be good? what pickup should be in there? should i get a cheap one (100- 200€) or a little more expensive one? (up to 500€). (i want to use steel strings by the way)
  18. they both are acoustic i guess. however, the b-stage piano is painted (dots, as on jonny's les paul and the ave with the dove as on chris' guitar(on of them), the errm... keys(? i'm not english speaking actully, haha^^) , however, the colors are inverted)
  19. i might help you out with swallowed in the sea..... chorus (2nd time first): e|---4-----4----4----2-----2------2----2------2-----2----2-----2-----2 (throughout the chorus) b|--------0----0----------0------0------------0-----0-----------0-----0 g|-4---4----4----4----4------4------4----4------4-----3----3-----3 interlude: powercords on e string: 9 --7--7--2 in the end chorus you put the chorus an octave higher, but you don't play the b string open, you just double the lower note. however, i'm probably wrong again... but the first riff seems to be correct with the fretted notes (not sure about the open string), at least it looks like what jonny is playing at toronto 06!
  20. well... i don't wanna be mean, so here's some constructive critics: you really need to practise! - a lot! that includes that you have to play the guitar cleaner = depressing every string correctly and percisely. i don't know for how long you have been playing the guitar, but on the one hand you know the chords and the correct notes, on the other hand you seem to be a real beginner because you fret the strings sloppily and sometimes you are completely out of the rhythm. so: practise, practise, practise!! i can't help you with the voice... ask somebody else... i hope you'll be better soon
  21. yah, he does some tremolo picking with an so far unknown effect. maybe try delay/echo + loads and loads of reverb. i don't know the notes, but as far as i remember the song it starts kind of B|-15--16--15.........
  22. by the way, the last Talk riff goes: G|-9--9--11b---11b---(b)11r--11--- etc. b11 = bend on fret 11 about 1/4 tone (b)11r= pre-bend 11th fret about 1/4 tone and release bend to 11th fret
  23. it won't work actually, that's not chris' sound
  24. nope, 10 12 12 11 0 0 index ring pinky middle (open) for example like that.... you could also use your thumb on the low e string ( i recommend that, because it helps sliding up and down the neck with only changing one finger)
  25. you might want to try E A D G C# C# F#m: 14 16 16 14 0 0 Dmaj7: 10 12 12 11 0 0 A: 5 7 7 6 0 0 Esus4: 0 2 2 2 3 3 C#m: 9 11 11 9 0 0 that's a possibility
