[##CANCELLED - DISCUSSION PG138 ONWARDS] 09-Aug-09: Ford Amphitheatre, Tampa, FL
Regardless of whether the VMA's are taped, I doubt they'd be able to make it over to the States within the next month. Here's what I posted in the other thread: Right before the final U.S. show? OUCH. :stunned: While that means they have over a week to rest before heading back to Europe, I feel absolutely awful for anyone who was planning on going, especially the few Coldplayers who were FLYING to see them in Tampa. The latter are the greater victims when it comes to money, so hopefully they can enjoy Florida for the heck of it, but considering how hyped this particular show was (more than the previous postponed show in NY), this is a real blow to excited fans. :\ Keep your chins up, folks - maybe Wembley won't be the last show of the tour and you guys will be instead!

Will we see more videos on Viva songs?
I doubt it, but then again, I said the same thing after LiTii, and we got Strawberry Swing half a year later.

Welcome to Coldplay Boot Camp
#7: AROBTTH #8 Will. All he has to do is give somebody the death stare and they faint. #9 I couldn't outlast anyone. But Guy would be the last man standing.

Coldplay Dreams
It's been a while since my last Coldplay dream, but I had one last night. It was a pretty generic one involving me and my friends at a concert, though for whatever reason, they covered Uprising by Muse, lol. Likely because I've had that song stuck in my head all week. Oh, and I remember singing Fix You really off-key in the dream. Like, even more than in real life. :laugh3:

Welcome to Coldplay Boot Camp
ASSIGNMENT #6: They haven't been heavy on it lately, but probably the political stuff, especially Obama.

Welcome to Coldplay Boot Camp
ASSIGNMENT #5: Lost+ A Whisper I Bloom Blaum 1.36 A Spell a Rebel Yell Actually wasn't hard. Just makes the band more flawless. *still gives twenty*

One year with Coldplay...
While I've been a fan since 2006, I didn't become obsessive until about June of last year (y'know...Viva month). Before then, while I knew plenty of lyrics, I doubt I could name any band member outside Chris. Now I need mental help, lol.

Welcome to Coldplay Boot Camp
Oh wow, I'm late! Gotta get in shape and fast! :stunned: *gives twenty* ASSIGNMENT #1: Trouble Politik Clocks White Shadows Viva la Vida ASSIGNMENT #2: Don't think Gwyneth Paltrow counts, so...I'm going with Guy, so I can study how to look as good as him for the ladies. ASSIGNMENT #3: Clocks ASSIGNMENT #4: Talk (Australian version) - Gets me Sleeping Sun and Gravity, two of the best B-sides! *gives another twenty*

I suddenly LOVE Violet Hill!
At first I was a bit turned off by some of the political tones, but I soon began to love the song for its other aspects. Its serene 35-second build-up is strange, but it works. And by golly, do I love the guitar in the song. :D As for the Violet Hill video, I find it pretty average. It's not as boring as VLV's, but it's nothing special.

OMG!!! I Won the Babelgum contest!!!
Whoo, congrats! :D As jealous as I may be, I'm happy that it went to a fellow Coldplayer!

Coldplay Nominated for Four VMA Awards | VOTE
Folks, Strawberry Swing's vid was just released recently. It probably didn't meet the deadline, but there's always the 2010 awards! :D I remember VLV just missing the deadline for last year's awards, but it probably only got nominated for popularity, as LIJ and LITii both had way better videos. Still, I think it at least deserves a nod for art direction, and I'm still rooting for it either way!

The Muse Thread - Hate This & I'll Hate You
Like past Muse covers, there's probably some bizarre symbolism here. Oh, I heard Uprising on the radio today! :D

The Muse Thread - Hate This & I'll Hate You
Large version: http://muse.mu/images/theresistance.jpg Oh, and for those of you who feel guilty for using the Multimedia section, Uprising is now available in various iTunes stores across the globe (including U.S. and Australia, but UK oddly has to hold off until September)

Isn't this exciting!?
Coldplay deserves - nay - needs to take a rest. They'll have been touring for a year-and-a-half. Give themselves a pat on the back for a job well done, then whenever they feel refreshed, they can start working on new material. And as excited as I am for that new material, it's not gonna come without some decent down-time. ;)

What is your favourite Coldplay song today?
The Hardest Part

The Muse Thread - Hate This & I'll Hate You
Heehee gotta love when this stuff happens :D I like the song after a couple listens. Not mindblowing, but pretty good. I like it better than Eurasia, but I'm not sure if I like it as much as past album openers.

Favorite coldplay band member
Chris, because I'm a conformist like that. :P Second, because I'm a straight male and therefore unaffected by how "sexy" each member is. Awesome power of mine, I know. Third, because he makes me laugh. True, being up-front gives him many more speaking moments, but in every interview I see him in, he always has some memorable remark. And fourth, because he's a talented frick and has a hot wife.

Evolution of a Setlist
To me, it seems like they're trying to rid themselves of X&Y outside of Fix You. Yeah, there's The Hardest Part on piano and like 15 seconds of Talk remixed, but as good as they are, those aren't in original form. That's a shame, as even though some don't like X&Y, I don't think it should be totally cycled out. Speed of Sound was the track that got me into Coldplay, so while I was ecstatic that I got it last November, it was the one missing piece in July. :(

The rise and rise of e-tickets
Another potential con to e-tickets is the potential fraud that can occur, in which somebody prints out multiple copies to scam buyers. Likewise, I tend to be wary of such tickets off eBay, Craigslist, etc. But if you're buying them directly from a ticket outlet, I find their convenience much more consumer-friendly. I'm not one of the people who scrapbooks ticket stubs, so that's not of much importance to me, and e-tickets usually drop shipping charges.

What's the average age of the Coldplaying.com-ers?
20. I've still got a couple more years before my gears stop turning. :P

What is it like at a Coldplay Concert?
Chris dropped the f-bomb three times at my most recent concert. Once as part of a made-up song, once in conversation, and once because he messed up a note. But I wouldn't call that excessive cursing, so as long as you warn your parents about a potential few bad words, you'll be in shape for an absolutely FANTASTIC time. ;)

FREE Strawberry Swing iPhone app launched
Is this, combined with TapTap Coldplay Edition, really worth the $250 price tag for an iPod Touch? No seriously, it's a difficult question for me. :laugh3:
