Letter from Phil Harvey: Dear Coldplaying...
Kudos to Phil for both being so courteous to the Coldplaying community and for providing some explanations for people's misunderstandings. Is the Q&A open to the entire Coldplaying forum or just those who were on the boat? I mean, there's no way they can control who submits questions, but the boat people were promised a Q&A session, so I'd personally feel a bit bad if one of my questions made it through. Though maybe I'm just too conscious about what other people think of me. But thanks a ton, Phil! It sounds like most of the people who went had a phenomenal time! Good catch. Makes more sense that way I think. :)

The Muse Thread - Hate This & I'll Hate You
Whoa...they dropped Unnatural Selection at your show? Definitely one of the better live songs from The Resistance, but then again, you got Citizen Erased. :o I went to 3 shows on this tour and never got MK Ultra, though, which probably means I'll never get it. If it's a rarity on the tour that's promoting the album it's on, it's probably history next tour. (Bliss kicks ass live, especially since they extend it. When those pink lights came on, I was like "OHFUCKAREWEGETTINGBLISS?") I could easily see them rotating New Born with Unnatural Selection every other show next tour. But Matt needs to go back to playing the piano on New Born. I don't think the towers will return next time (they'll have some new ridiculous stage set-up next time), so hopefully we'll see more of the piano. I don't care if they keep Feeling Good, but if they do, I hope they also give us more piano songs.

Glastonbury like touching Robert Pattisons Balls
I'm Robert Pattinson's doctor so I have touched Robert Pattinson's balls. I thought they were peanuts at first because they were so small and salty. So next time you get on an airplane and the flight attendant gives you a free bag of salted peanuts, you can think to yourself, "Wow, it's like I'm eating Coldplay! And Robert Pattinson's balls!" ... I've made my awkward comment for the day. :escaping:

FESTIVE (OFFICIAL) BOAT TRIP IN LONDON @ 5PM ON 25 NOV, 2010
While true, I think the trust-in-the-forum thing still stands. We want them to treat us well in the future too. :) Oh, I'm sure that news will come soon enough, even if it's just general "hush-hush" excitement.

FESTIVE (OFFICIAL) BOAT TRIP IN LONDON @ 5PM ON 25 NOV, 2010
Even when you forget about the signed legal agreements, having somebody from the forum leak this information could cause the band to lose trust in the forum. As it stands, Coldplaying is held in very high respect by the band and their crew, hence this boat trip being planned in the first place. We do NOT want to lose that, ladies and gentlemen. ;)

FESTIVE (OFFICIAL) BOAT TRIP IN LONDON @ 5PM ON 25 NOV, 2010
Eh, I just read the last few pages and I'm not gonna hit the panic button. At the very least, it seems we should wait a bit more before...umm...*BAD PUN APPROACHING*...jumping ship. So we have confirmation of the video shoot, and it may not have been quite as fan-involved as we anticipated, but we've still only heard back from a few people so far, and they may greenlight more information leaks a bit later. Still pretty dang cool, as mysterious as the whole event was at the moment.

You make it sound like it's gonna be part of the afterlife or something. :P

We should all sing carols! Christmas is only a month away! We wish you a merry CHRIStmas! Deck the halls with boughs of Jonny! Jingle Wills! Jingle Wills! Jingle all the way! Oh little town of Berryman! *Something to do with Phil*

FESTIVE (OFFICIAL) BOAT TRIP IN LONDON @ 5PM ON 25 NOV, 2010
LOL, a Coldplay AA meeting? Truth be told, I haven't been listening to much Coldplay over the last year or so, but the recent news has brought them back into my life. And now here I am, avoiding my relatives on Thanksgiving and sad that I'm not in London. I'm going to gorge myself on turkey as a sign of my misery.

FESTIVE (OFFICIAL) BOAT TRIP IN LONDON @ 5PM ON 25 NOV, 2010
They can control what happens on the boat, which they have done already by revoking phones and cameras. But they can't realistically control what happens after the boat trip. So I don't see any withholding of secrets occurring since it's just not feasible.

FESTIVE (OFFICIAL) BOAT TRIP IN LONDON @ 5PM ON 25 NOV, 2010
Phones and cameras revoked, huh? Either this is going to be something HUGE or they're all getting drafted into the Coldplay Army (shoot Coldplay haters with butterfly cannons! :D). I've actually just woken up in this part of the world, so I'll hopefully be here for the big implosion of excitement the instant they get off the boat (though I have to deal with relatives since it's Thanksgiving, blah). Everyone there is clearly in for the experience of a lifetime. Edit: Holy smokes, Simon Pegg. Actually, if phones have already been taken away, maybe the boat people won't see that yet,

New Coldplay Christmas Song 2010! Christmas Lights // behind-the-scenes footage in first post (parts
This deciphering of probably-meaningless details is gonna send the entire Coldplaying community into a Da Vinci Code-like puzzle-solving frenzy. :laugh3:

New Coldplay Christmas Song 2010! Christmas Lights // behind-the-scenes footage in first post (parts
Dang, if you boat people get to be part of a video, or even if you just get to hear the first first performance of the song -- you know what, I'm envious of you boat people regardless of whether or not it has a bloody thing to do with "Christmas Lights". Still, this single release ensures that none of us will be left out of the holiday joy. :):) There's a light at the end of the Coldplay News Lull Tunnel, ladies and gentlemen. And it's growing more visible. :D

New Coldplay Christmas Song 2010! Christmas Lights // behind-the-scenes footage in first post (parts
Just saw this. So "Christmas Lights" is happening after all. It's been so long since we heard about it that I didn't think we'd ever hear it. Awesome. :)

Acoustic versions that are better than recordings.
There's a ton of good acoustic versions of "Yellow", most of which exceed its standard equivalent. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PvqsglkZsR4]YouTube - Coldplay Yellow Acoustic version[/ame]

Belle and Sebastian - Write About Love Hmm...didn't expect so many Canadian bands to land up there at the top! These polls always make me feel sorry for bands who release albums in December, though, as they miss cut-off dates for year-end polls and then get forgotten about by the time the next year's polls come around.

Muse or Coldplay, who's better live?
Not sure Falling Away With You is really comparable to See You Soon, given how it turns into an energetic rocker in the chorus. As for the other three, I'd say Redemption and Unintended are closer to SYS, but Blackout is the best of them all and is one of Muse's most under-appreciated songs, so if I prefer any of those songs over SYS, it's Blackout. Soldier's Poem is also comparable, though I don't think it's quite as good as those others. And I just glanced over at the WoM poll results for comparison. Basically a flip of this one... Edit: ^ God that performance is always gorgeous. Wish it made it onto HAARP's CD instead of just the DVD.

Coldplay to play German ROCK IM PARK / ROCK AM RING festival in 2011 // LP5 before June?
Exciting news, although this doesn't guarantee the album will be out beforehand. Plenty of bands do tour before their newest album is released, performing their new songs before anybody has heard their studio equivalents (personally, I'm not a fan of this method). Regardless, this does basically guarantee that LP5 is well underway, if the roadie blogs weren't indication enough already. I actually plan on hitting up a major festival or two here in the States next year, so with any luck, they'll pay me a visit. :awesome:

Muse or Coldplay, who's better live?
While this doesn't have anything to do with the performances themselves, I really liked how the floors at the arenas Muse played were entirely General Admission standing. Coldplay played many of the same arenas and had seats covering most of the floor, which not only limited the pit, but caused people on the floor to be stiff. There's also more jumping in general with Muse, so crowd-wise, Muse takes the cake. Performance-wise, it's a close battle. You'll have a lot of Muse fans (especially on the underwear stain known as the Muse board) complain about this most recent tour of theirs, in which they played limited sets on a restrictive stage (the towers), while Coldplay basically did the opposite by not only having a B-stage and C-stage, but playing decently lengthy sets. So that's a plus in Coldplay's favor, especially since they regularly played old favorites like Politik and Green Eyes (though I'd kill to see the revival of Amsterdam and company). In addition, Chris Martin tends to engage with the audience in a lot more banter than Matt Bellamy does. But Muse, on the other hand, is about over-the-top theatrics in addition to their music. If the countless lasers and lights don't stun you, the massive sound should do the trick. Sure, Coldplay has things like the butterflies and the Yellow balloons, but they don't specialize in rocking the audience's faces off. Coldplay specializes in sing-along anthems that hit on a more emotional level, which isn't a bad thing, while Muse is certainly more rock-oriented (although no live Coldplay song I've heard has hit me in such an emotional way as Muse did when they busted out Ruled By Secrecy). A key area where Muse has the upper hand live is the vocals. I honestly think Matt's voice just translates a lot better live than Chris's does. In the end, Coldplay live is an emotional experience. Muse live is a religious experience. I love a good emotional experience, but I think Muse wins out just slightly.

The Muse Thread - Hate This & I'll Hate You
Yeah, he and Chris always switch sides during Time Is Running Out. A little before 7 AM. (meaning, of course, that psychopaths ahead of me were there since 5) Oh yeah, good point, but I'm not sure how I'm supposed to give birth to them. I assume they'll simply fly out of my stomach like the superbabies that they are. :laugh3: Wolstenoctuplets? Oh how I hope not. Now my friends who have met the Wolstenbeast? They have bloody octuplets. At the very minimum. ;) (I love how you can slap "Wolsten" in front of any other word and that word automatically becomes awesome :awesome:) That he liked mint chocolate and raisin & rum ice cream. Pointless question, but I got an answer and that satisfied me.

The Muse Thread - Hate This & I'll Hate You
What you say is true. Even though I was 17th in line at Staples, I got stuck behind a slow wristband lady upon entrance, so I was like 40th into the pit. :/ Fortunately, Chris's side still had barrier spots available, so I snared a spot while people were either crowding on Matt's side or in the middle. Side effect is that - according to my friend - I still got pregnant even though I'm a guy (and Chris tweeted me a few weeks back, so I guess I have twins now ). And I know what GIF you're talking about, but unfortunately, I don't know where I last found it either.

Florence + The Machine
^ December 12th. They're going to do a live webcast of the show like they do every year. :awesome: (schedule will likely be posted a few days before) The other bands are Phoenix (headliner), Vampire Weekend, Brandon Flowers, The Black Keys, The Temper Trap, Broken Bells, Edward Sharpe, and Neon Trees. Also remember that Flo is just beginning to break big here in the States, so she still has a lot of popularity to build here (like, we're just now starting to hear "Dog Days Are Over" on the radio). Edit: New Flo-vatar! :D

Florence + The Machine
Guys. :dozey: I get to see Flo next month. :D Just got my KROQ ACX tickets (completely sold out in one minute). I missed out on her recent L.A. dates, so the fact that she's returning so soon is super awesome, even though she won't be a headlining act. I hope they'll give her set a decent length, even though they have 8 other bands to cycle through as well.

PHOENIX
So awesome Lore! Can't wait to see more of your pics later! :)

PHOENIX
OH HELL YES. Phoenix is headlining Night 2 of this year's KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas in Los Angeles! (along with Florence & the Machine, Vampire Weekend, Brandon Flowers, Broken Bells, etc.) Should make up for the fact that I unfortunately missed them in September.
