The Muse Thread - Hate This & I'll Hate You
Psst...looking at the page history on Wikipedia, some mischief-making a-hole changed the release date this morning, likely to throw off the competition. Thank goodness I checked the history beforehand. I'd check the page history or use a different source for those of you who haven't submitted your e-mails yet. For those who have, you've now learned your lesson about Wikipedia. Sorry to those folks. :(

Roadie #44 – The Beehive janitor’s blog to satisfy the masses
#43 is impressed. Perhaps envious. #43 doesn't like being outshone. He may "accidentally" leave some rat droppings in the piano for the good ol' janitor to clean up. (Now to find a rat... :P)

Hey guys, this is from us, the new Global Moderators!
Nice job getting things back up and running and establishing the new guidelines. I'm noticing some slight lag, but that will probably smooth out soon. And congrats to the "global mods" and their new powers! Use them wisely but be firm. ;) (I was actually kinda worried that you guys would be establishing a penalty/infraction system like on a few other forums I visit. Glad you didn't, as it creates tension between members and staff.)

The Muse Thread - Hate This & I'll Hate You
That was a fun few days on the Muse board, wasn't it? I feel like we had a more intelligent discussion about Coldplay there than we ever would here. :laugh3: 24 more days until I see them again. And an even shorter time for you Wembley folk!

Tired Pony
Okay, so I finally downloaded the dang album. I've only had time to listen to the first half of it, but I'm loving it so far. (Jen, you know I'd totally trade places with you so I could go to ACL and you could see Tired Pony :P)

Arcade Fire
So I got tickets last week to Arcade Fire's LA show on October 7th, which is - for whatever reason - at an all-seated venue (no GA area anywhere). I had to settle for some mediocre seats, but the place isn't that big so I'm sure I'll still have an okay view. And seeing as how I've never seen AF before, I'm not gonna be super picky. Bring on October. :D

The Muse Thread - Hate This & I'll Hate You
Just checkin' in here. Oh, and posting to say that MY TICKETS FOR ANAHEIM ARRIVED. Just 30 days...I can hardly believe it! Still waiting on the LA tickets in the meantime...

MEN OF COLDPLAYING!
I walked into this thread hoping to feel macho and masculine amidst all of Coldplaying's fangirl fiestas, seeking some sort of male fan sanctuary on this site. Instead I walked out completely questioning my sexuality. Thanks everyone. :P

NEW POLL ADDED 6TH OCTOBER! Countdown to LP5: The Roadie #42 blog sweepstakes (EIGHTH blog voting cl
Haha, I totally forgot about this poll, especially in light of my sparse activity here lately. I was actually in Vegas this morning, but fortunately I didn't place any bets as silly as this one. He's totally gonna post on a day nobody voted for. Which means EVERYONE'S A LOSER. :D

Broken Bells
Not one of my top albums of the year, but still one that has gotten decently frequent play time from me over the last several months. Huge fan of "Vaporize" and "October". It helps that the band's music videos are phenomenal, too.

Elbow
^ Cheers! If it was any other band, I'd say that "Sapling Trust" was an awful name. But yet...I think it fits Elbow and their "natural" feeling. I know the name is still tentative, but I can't say I'd be unhappy with that name. I haven't listened to many Elbow B-sides, to be honest, so I'll give those a listen soon! :)

Best individual live song
While I obviously don't have the time to watch every performance of every song Coldplay has ever done (or every performance of a single song, for that matter), I'm most certainly a huge fan of Coldplay's Politik Grammy performance. As one of my favorite Coldplay songs in general, if this isn't a contender for "best individual live song", it probably surpasses any other performance of Politik.

The Eno Effect
While I'm not normally one to criticize the man behind the production of The Joshua Tree and Achtung Baby, I can't help but feel that Eno's taken a hit over the years. I don't think he necessarily made Coldplay "commercial", as I have always considered them at least somewhat in that category, but I do think he sent them down a path that - musically - it's difficult to turn back from. Depending on who you are, this is either fantastic or dreadful news. I honestly think those hoping LP5 will return to the style of Parachutes are setting themselves up for even further disappointment, regardless of whether or not they go more "acoustic" like they say. I sound pessimistic, but I did enjoy Viva for what it's worth, and am looking forward to LP5 all the same. But I'm also being realistic about Coldplay's evolution. With Eno or without him, it's difficult to turn back.

Arcade Fire are better than Coldplay
While I'm sure this will change a couple times over the next year or so, depending on which bands release an album and how good it happens to be, Arcade Fire is probably my favorite band at the moment. Not only am I obsessed with The Suburbs, but I'm once again just as passionate about their previous two albums as I was when I first listened to them. So yeah, Coldplay can suck it until LP5. Possibly later than that. :P

Weezer Unveil Hurley Tracklist, Cover Coldplay on Bonus Disc
Yep. Apparently it's cropped from a picture Rivers took with him. *ahem* Weezer rant time... Over the past decade, Weezer has been a laughable embarrassment and their only redeeming value has been their album art and some of their song titles, which are so ridiculously bad that they're almost charming. I doubt even a Coldplay cover (which I've seen video of, and it's okay, nothing more) can help salvage them from such a slippery slope, which has not only hit rock-bottom, but has burrowed its way into the inferno of Hell. I try not to let any of that ruin my enjoyment of their first couple albums, though.

Is there a Coldplay song you don't like?
It's funny, because I last posted in this thread 14 months ago and listed some really dumb choices. I still don't like "A Whisper" or "Yes", though.

Strawberry Swing Nominated for MTV VMA (BREAKTHROUGH VIDEO)
I wouldn't say their chances of winning is as terrible as it normally is on MTV, given how it's not a fan-voting category, nor is it plagued with the likes of Gaga and company. But at the same time, there's no shame in losing to Gorillaz or even Black Keys. At this point, the fact that they're nominated at all should be a welcome surprise.

The Muse Thread - Hate This & I'll Hate You
Signing up for MTV's website won't make me hate their awards or their network in general any less. I predict Paramore and Lady Gaga victories in each respective category, anyway. I've actually been spending a lot of time on the Muse boards lately getting to know some of the people going to the gigs that I'm attending (even though I've had an account there since last year and hardly posted until recently). Next month, can't wait! Those of you going to Wembley should have a blast, though!

Strawberry Swing Nominated for MTV VMA (BREAKTHROUGH VIDEO)
Chances are that the video just barely missed the nomination period last year. It does seem like eons since the video was released, though.

Random Coldplay thoughts...
I generally don't post every time I hear Coldplay being played in public, but I was still generally surprised to hear "Don't Panic" in a sushi bar last night. Not just because they normally play Top 40 stuff, but because I haven't heard that song on the radio or in public in years. I actually haven't listened to much Coldplay over the past few months, but I suppose that's partly thanks to the news lull.

NEW POLL ADDED 6TH OCTOBER! Countdown to LP5: The Roadie #42 blog sweepstakes (EIGHTH blog voting cl
Err...does this poll have a deadline? Because if not, people could potentially cheat by voting the day the blog is posted. My gut says August 12th.
