  1. Previews of the two new tracks are now up: http://www.arcadefire.com/ LISTEN. NOW.
  2. I'm led to believe that there's an alternate version without the shitty Twilight footage. Reason being is that the 30-second preview didn't show any Twilight whatsoever, yet footage from the movie is played over much of that part in the final video. I hope we see that raw video in the future, but I'm not too hopeful. Bah humbug.
  3. Maybe I'm just hearing things, but the drums during the solo sound like KOC drums to me. :\
  4. Actually, I'd be inclined to agree that the song doesn't sound very original. It's like Knights of Cydonia had a deformed love child with Guiding Light.
  5. As I posted on the Muse board (which I rarely ever post on BTW), the piano outro is great but the rest of the song is pretty dang cheesy, which is what a lot of us expected anyway. Anyone hear the interview after the song? Matt said a chrome UFO will appear at the stadium shows in which an alien will grab him. :laugh3: I saw a rumor on the Muse boards that it's But again, that's just a rumor.

Very cool. My ears were ringing for a full 24 hours after I saw Metric, which wasn't normal at all. :\
  7. Unless you're Crests, nobody should ever feel bad about spending too much time on the forums. And even if you ARE Crests, you still deserve a big fat congrats that spans the length of 100,000 posts. :D Say, you aren't a robot, are you?
  8. I didn't click it and probably won't, but it seems this video has single-handedly demolished people's sacred cows. Go find a new sacred animal.
  9. On the flipside, they'd never forget you that way. You'd be imprinted in their memories forever. Years later, they'd have a chat and randomly say, "Hey, you remember that girl who died in front of us because we were such an awesome collaboration?" (Gary, of course, would say, "No, I was probably too drunk that night." :laugh3:)
  10. Neutron Cheese Collision (Cheese is Forever) :dozey: I'll wait for the full song before passing judgment, of course. Resistance and MK Ultra sounded lousy from the previews also, and they turned out great.

At least they weren't as unfortunate as Muse to get the lead single to the soundtrack. This way, Metric is less likely to be associated with the Twilight franchise and we'll get a new song in the process! (although granted, people still associate "Help I'm Alive" with The Vampire Diaries) New Moon's soundtrack was also very good (I mean, we got Hearing Damage out of it!). I have high hopes for this in spite of the fact that I will never, ever see the movie.
  12. I can't say I'm a huge fan of Eat Raw Meat either. It's just such an "uncomfortable" song if you know what I mean, and not really in a good "Editors" way. I dunno, I guess I'm just completely disenchanted with Editors' new album, even after several listens.
  13. I definitely second the suggestion of Twin Cinema. In my opinion, it's not only their best album (heck, "The Bleeding Heart Show" is probably one of my top 5 favorite songs by anyone; makes me cry manly tears :P), but it's most representative of the rest of their career. From there, any other album is a fine second step. Yes, Neko Case is awesome. Though she actually doesn't get much of a role on the new album aside from a few tracks (including the lead single - "Crash Years").
  14. You'll have to forgive me for the exclusion of a lot of "classic rock". Here's a list in no particular order other than alphabetical by artist: Neighborhood #1 (Tunnels) - Arcade Fire Amsterdam - Coldplay Pounding - Doves Butterflies & Hurricanes - Muse The Bleeding Heart Show - The New Pornographers Don't Look Back in Anger - Oasis Reckoner - Radiohead Where the Streets Have No Name - U2 Bittersweet Symphony - The Verve Heavy Metal Drummer - Wilco There are at least 20 other songs that could have easily made the list, mind you.
  15. Remember when VLV first came out and people were saying how it was a breath of fresh air after X&Y? Obviously things look different to many in hindsight (it's been two years, so I now consider VLV to be "hindsight"), but regardless of your opinion about VLV, the dislike for it has definitely grown since its release. As for me, I finally stopped giving a crap about these album rankings. They're kinda pointless after a while, although I'm sure I'll revisit them once LP5 is released.
  16. Arrggh, I be plundering topics from the deep, mateys! :pirate: The latest album - Together - has been released. After Challengers went for a less 'pop' route than its predecessors, this new album is again pretty poppy and upbeat. I wouldn't say it's as good as Electric Version or Twin Cinema, but it's definitely worth a listen. Surely there's some other New Pornos fans here in the three years since this thread last saw activity...
  17. That at least indicates to me that this departure was planned rather than spontaneous. After all, he did stick around to make sure the record could be completed. Still, his replacement(s) has high standards to live up to. Here's hoping for the best, and good luck to Carlos with whatever he does.
  18. Iron Man 2 - 8/10 Aside from the overstuffing of characters that superhero sequels often do, this managed to avoid most other sequel-related pitfalls. Good acting, great villain, fun humor, and a superior climax to that of the original. There were some comic book references that I was lost on (mainly about The Avengers), but I'm not going to penalize the film for that.
  19. I think "The Racing Rats" has suddenly become my favorite Editors song. :) I'm not really a fan of their latest album, although "Bricks and Mortar" came on Shuffle in the car the other day, which is growing on me. But other than that and "You Don't Know Love", I don't find too much to like on ITLAOTE. Even though I have the album on iTunes, I can't actually find a physical copy of The Back Room anywhere.

  22. I'm conflicted. On one hand, a new Muse song is always good. On the other hand, the "Twilight-Muse Syndrome" that started with SMBH in the first movie (which I never saw and never plan on seeing) will only get worse from here. If the song is good, however, I'd like to see it as an addition to their live set.
