When Taylor Swift's song meets Coldplay's ...
I saw this song again on youtube today and loved it again, but I remembered the guy on his official website saying that they had to get permission before they could repost the mp3 version of the song. Well, apparently, according to the main page of his site Coldplay didn't give him permission to use viva in the song so there is a chance he will have to take down the original video. However, Taylor Swift DID give him permission and he recreated the song as Love Story meets Love Story. Does anyone else think it strange that Coldplay wouldn't give him permission? I dunno I guess I thought they would be more open to allowing this as they did a similar thing with the Talk guitar riff. But then again maybe they are skeptics after the whole satriani lawsuit. Either way I don't like it, it makes me sad that such a beautiful composition won't be allowed by an artist I love.

Coldplay Article in Q Magazine, October 2009 Edition (Scans bottom pg7)
It really depends on where you live and which store of either chain you go to. Near me the B & N had up to September and the Borders only had up to August so I have to wait for both. Also, that May one may just be an old one that no one bought and they left there so you may have hope yet.

Ted Kennedy Dead at 77
The funeral was absolutely beautiful. Personally I think a load of what Senator Kennedy did was crap, but he was extremely well respected and loved by his colleagues both democrat and republican as well as by the state of Massachusetts and lived one hell of a hard life.

Official MLB 2009 Thread!
I think we need a new manager period so i'll take this reason and be added to that list. He really seems like a nice guy, but when so many of your players get hurt there is obviously an underlying reason and even if he had no control over that somebody is going to take the bullet and he knows it.

Coldplay 'megamix'
From the mm section I've gotten seperate yellow, the scientist, talk, viva, what if, and trouble mixes and I'm sure there are more there, but I've never seen any "megamixes", sorry.

Coldplay: Live Dusseldorf Photoblog Updates thread (27th August 2009)
Nah, Miller (and its actually his first name, Matthew is his last name...weird right? I feel like such a stalker knowing that :embarassed: ) is only R42 and um slightly larger shall we say than the man taking the picture. Plus he would have been working at this point and not had time to take the pic. Its probably that Chris guy that people said is listed in the tour book as co-runner (or whatever it was) of coldplay.com.

What do you think of this:
Well looky there! Surprisingly pretty boy isn't half bad, not the most original voice, but he definitely wasn't bad. Truthfully, I expected him to butcher it.

TORONTO PIT CREW 2011
I really like your glow in the dark paint idea, but Im not sure how many people would go along with it...Not that I'll be Toronto pit anyway, if anything Ill be pit for East Rutherford next tour, but Im going to try and be either an oxfam volunteer or get some cheap seats there either way and can't wait to see what you guys can come up with! Good luck with your planning! Lord knows you have the time to come up with something brilliant :).

|~|The OFFICIAL Coldplay FanFic Thread 2: DISCUSSION|~|
^^If I was able to write a fic, which would never happen because I can't write for beans, it would be like a fake true story of their early days of meeting each other and becoming a band and the excitement of getting their first gigs and taking the ride out on the pedaloes with their lawyers and signing their contract and their first time at Glastonbury having to run across the entire festival...or maybe snapshots of the bands evolution and key moments in their growth as well as their relationship as people evolving around their growing families. I dunno I always think they already have such a great story, wouldn't it be cool to read a fleshed out fic version? Or maybe Im just crazy  With that said I love all of the romance and angst so all you amazing writers keep doing what you're doing because I love every single one! :)

Official MLB 2009 Thread!
Murphy, Tatis, and Reed are the only three of the opening day position players on the Mets that haven't been on the DL this year.... Oh, and Francoeur is out with a tear in his left thumb and Santana will miss his start tomorrow to see a doctor about his pitching elbow.... If I was a fan of any other team I would think this is hilarious, but instead I'll go in a corner and cry until next season when they should all be healthy again.

The 4th Mixtape Exchange
*bows* Why, thank you. Psh, for gods sake I didn't recognize Jason Mraz so even if Damien was on there I probably would've been like "OMG I KNOW THAT VOICE" and lost any musical credibility I had in the first place. *runs off to download collab anyway*

The 4th Mixtape Exchange
Ha, I didn't expect to see this for the next couple days, but really who needs priorities anyway? :P(says the person who has yet to start her summer homework :uhoh2: ) Track 1- Air and Simple Gifts arranged by John Williams performed by Anthony McGill, Itzhak Perlman, Yo-Yo Ma, and Gabriela Montero I am beyond glad that you like strings because otherwise most of this mix would have failed horribly! This piece was actually arranged and performed for the inauguration of President Obama this past February, but yes the theme Williams used was from Copland's variation of Simple Gifts. Good ear with that. Track 2- Who Did You Think I Was? John Mayer Trio Try! Yep John Mayer on vocals here. I too enjoy his guitar playing and jamming much more than his pop-ier singles and found a gold mine with the John Mayer Trio live album. He really lets loose and becomes the guitar hero we know he is, its really too bad he says his next album is going back toward his pop audience. Track 3- How To Hang A Warhol Little Joy Little Joy Aw, its to bad you didn't really like this one, I just figured you would know their single, The Next Time Around, and this album really became my summer theme so it was always going to be in this mix. Ah well, can't like them all now can we? Track 4- Blue Sky Allman Brothers Band Eat A Peach Right again with the Allman Brothers. They are my dad's absolute favorite band and I grew up listening to their songs and love almost all of them so it was hard to pick just one in case you didn't like them. Their music is perfect for that nice summer drive especially this one, I'm glad you liked it. Track 5- The Dance Charlotte Martin Stromata This one almost didn't make it on here and I put it on last minute in place of a Missy Higgins song so I'm glad I changed my mind! Charlotte Martin in my mind is basically the queen of simplistic yet harmonious awesomeness and I think this track shows that quite well. Personally as a whole I enjoy her newest album "On Your Shore" a bit more than "Stromata", but both will give you the same basic result with strong beats and great lyrics. Track 6- What If I Do? Foo Fighters In Your Honor [Disc 2] Hmm I'm not sure why I thought you would be a Foo Fighters fan, but this was another last minute inclusion that I thought would fit nicely in with the other folky/country songs yet give a more modern feel. Sorry you didn't like it I guess I can see your point about it not really having a grab to it, but for me Dave Grohl's voice can save any song :D Track 7- Too Too Too Fast Ra Ra Riot The Rhumb Line Yeah the synth does give it a bit of an 80's feel, music I'm usually not a fan of, but this group as you said about the track is very dance-y and makes a person feel good. And that along with the fact that I am in love with Ra Ra Riot right now are the reasons for it being in the mix. Track 8- Amy Mark Ronson feat. Kenna Version As with many Mark Ronson creations this song "Amy" is actually a cover of the Ryan Adams song, but with much better arrangement and awesome horns added. I probably should have put Valerie with Mark Ronson feat. Amy Winehouse here instead, but I figured you would know that one and I think the horns in this song are just better. Track 9- Mansard Roof Vampire Weekend Vampire Weekend Go now and download this album, because you will love it if you loved this song. They are pretty amazing and refreshingly unique and I have yet to meet someone who doesn't like them. Track 10- Old Enough The Raconteurs featuring Ricky Skaggs & Ashley Munroe You may have heard the original version on The Raconteurs album "Consolers of the Lonely". Yeah, country's kind of what I was raised on so I probably shouldn't have expected anyone else to like this, but I thought it was pretty cool that Jack White was broadening his horizons this extremely with a bluegrass song. Track 11- Older Chests Damien Rice O Yep, time to start to tone things down again. Im happy you liked this one, I wasn't sure which Damien Rice song was going to be on here until I sent it out because I love them all. You might have recognized his voice from the "Closer" soundtrack with the song "The Blower's Daughter" another masterpiece to me. Track 12- Bling (Confessions of a King) The Killers Sam's Town Yep, Im glad you love them too. This is my favorite song by them. Track 13- Snow Crystals Apparatjik Needed to represent Apparatjik on here. Im not much of an active Apparat-chick but I love them and this is my favorite song by them. Yeah, they're a bit repetitive, but their music is meant to be confusing and non-conventional so for them its to be expected. Except you couldn't really expect it could you as you didn't know it was them  Ah well, check out their other stuff if you haven't yet anyway because they're awesome and...yeah. Track 14- Evaporar Little Joy Little Joy Thought this would be a nice ending as it melts rather nicely with the "evaporar" or evaporation. Yeah I don't know Portuguese either and usually need lyrics to keep me interested as well so I understand your not being able to fully embrace this track. Here's the lyrics and translation for you And you thought you wrote a novel! This has got to be my longest ever post! Thank you very much for your kind words. I'm glad you didn't think it was absolute rubbish, and good luck with your busy-ness over the next couple days. :)

|~|The OFFICIAL Coldplay FanFic Thread 2: DISCUSSION|~|
I'm sorry I never really post in here, but I am reading the other thread and loving ALL of the stories and just never seem to think of anything constructive worth saying. However, Oh My God! Human was probably the most amazing and original thing I have read in a very long time and I just have to tell both authors how good it was and thank them both for writing and posting it. Thank you :)

The 4th Mixtape Exchange
I'm not sure what I expected to hear when I started listening, but overall I really liked my mix. Most of it was stuff I'm not used to hearing and I can't wait to check out some more about a couple of these artists. Thanks mysterious mixtape maker! 1. Very calming and very soft. I really enjoy instrumentals so I liked this as a beginning song with the indecipherable women singing softly in the background. It kind of reminded me of the Lord of the Rings soundtrack elvish singing in that regard, but with the alien-like instrumentation definitely was something I've never heard before. And thats a good thing. 2. Made me jump with the sudden guitar after such a soft ending to the first. Wasn't very sure about this on the first listen but now I kind of love it. I don't know what language he was singing in as I am horrible with languages, but I did enjoy his voice. Made me listen to the instruments a bit more since I couldn't center myself on lyrics and I really liked the wobbly guitar in the background during the verses and thought the rhythm section was pretty amazing throughout. Definitely want more of this. 3. Slow once again. A little too repetitive and a little too long for my tastes. Kind of reminded me of Alexi Murdoch vocally and lyrically. I'm guessing this one is a grower and can see myself appreciating it more in a week, but right now I just want to hit fast foward. 4. I'm not very fond of female vocalists in general and this woman really didn't break that trend. She actually reminded me vocally of a Playhouse Disney singer my little sister loves and the beat and piano go right along the lines of those type of songs. The lyrics I thought were rather good, but that alone didn't redeem this song for me. 5. Was this the same singer/band as track 3? The singers voices sounded very similar to my ear. Unlike number three, however, I realllly liked this track. It has a good beat that quickly dragged me in. I particularly liked the last 20 seconds or so where that little guitar part kicked in. 6. This is Amy Winehouse, right? Ive always thought her voice was amazing, though I've never really looked further into her music than radio singles. This song in particular had a wonderful hauntingly beautiful background to her honey-like voice that I really enjoyed. 7. Eh. Didn't like this track very much. Her voice just really annoyed me throughout making it hard to appreciate anything else. The instrumental from about 2:20 to 3:00 was the best part. 8. Woahhhh there, where'd that O Fortuna remix come from?! Very sudden, very upbeat and a good power song, much too short. Awesome to the 10th power. 9. Nice African drum beat alongside a modern synth-sound in this one. Unlike others, this woman's voice highlighted the song nicely in two short sections as opposed to killing it with overuse. Nothing like what I listen to normally, but I still enjoyed it immensely. 10. I know this voice. I know that I know this voice, but I can't place it. I also know that as soon as you say who this is I'll hit myself on the forehead. Regardless, I love this kind of cheesy music and, despite the cliche lyrics (la la la la la la la life is wonderful) I loved this song and will listen to it ad nauseum. Thank you! 11. JAMMO JAMMO! FINICULI, FINICULA! :laugh3: I LOVE this song, its so much fun! Opera is not really my thing, but really, who doesn't love singing along to this one? I'm used to Pavarotti alone (with choir), but this version is great as well. 12. Great cover. Only thing I could have done without was the drums near the very end, but thats just me nitpicking. Beautiful and calming any way you spin it and a great way to end the mix.

The 4th Mixtape Exchange
So sorry to my mixtaper and the one I mixed for! I was unexpectedly kidnapped by family to "get to know" my state last week until today so I'll get my review up asap. I haven't read any others yet, but I'm sure they're amazing and I hope my person will still appreciate the mix despite it's lateness and mainstream-ness.
