Paradise is amazing
I have made it clear that I am in the "I like Paradise" club. No, wait... I actually don't like Paradise. I love Paradise. :D

Paradise is the most haunting song from the MX era so far
That's one thing that makes Paradise so interesting... it sounds NOTHING like what they've given us from this era so far.

Am I missing something?
It's always good to see another Tar Heel fan. :) How about the Panthers and Canes?

No. Hmm... this of course leads me to wonder where you're from. Here?

to all the "real fans"
I for one offer ebarker a high-five... he's not being rude, he's simply telling it like it is. It is sad to see this civil war going on, though. Remember the Viva era, when butterfly confetti floated around and we all loved each other? :P

I just had a lot to say to simply stick in a "positive thoughts" thread, I guess. :P

Am I missing something?
The very instant I heard this song for the first time, I was blown away. This is one of the most beautiful songs they've ever made. So I am equally as blown away at all the negativity I'm seeing here. How can you guys slam this song so badly? The feeling I get when I hear it... wow. It's just a powerful, emotional song. Mainly the first half of it... the first half of the song is what makes it. Usually you don't say that about a good song, but Paradise is the exception. What a beautiful song they've made. When I think about it, though... I'd say a lot of the hate is not necessarily directed towards the song itself, but the different sound that it has. Everyone's used to old-school Coldplay, and they don't like this new sound. This reminds me exactly of when Bob Barker left The Price Is Right (this may sound silly, but stay with me for a second). I post on a fan site for the show, and a lot of people were very unhappy when the show changed once Drew Carey took over as host. Yet at the same time, there were just as many people that liked the new direction of the show. My thought on TPIR's current state is that I'm not on either side... I like some things that they've done, and I don't like some things that they've done. But I don't mind some change at all... and TPIR is a show that I've grown up with. It was sad to see Bob go, but we knew it was going to happen eventually. The show had to move on, and it did. That's okay. It's a similar deal with Coldplay's current state... do you honestly think they could have stayed the same forever? Yes, we can all agree that the first three albums produced some great stuff. But I would never have wanted them to keep making album after album sounding that way. So I think there's nothing wrong with them wanting to head down a different road... and personally, I love it. They sound great, if you ask me. One more note... I said "in their first three albums" earlier because we can all agree that the Viva era was their first attempt at change. Yet nobody seemed to complain about it. Why? How come everyone liked that change, but hates this change? That's something that confuses me even more.

Mylo Xyloto: Will you have a listening party?
Not for me, as I explained. It made it even more fun... probably because my friend is just as into them as I am. It likely wouldn't be the same if he was just a Joe Coldplay. I'm assuming a mod added the poll... interesting results. It could be because (like most have already said) that you are unlikely to be acquainted with many Coldplay fans, if any at all. That's probably why this community is so successful... it's the one place we can go where everyone likes the greatest band in history.

Mylo Xyloto: Will you have a listening party?
When Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends came out in 2008, my friend Jonathan (who is just as big a Coldplay fan as I am and was with me when we went to what was our first Coldplay concert) came over to my house that night and we listened to it for the first time. It was pretty much an amazing experience... and I expect more of the same in October. Even though I live over an hour away from him now, you'd better believe he'll still be up here when Mylo Xyloto comes out next month. My girlfriend will probably be over for all the fun and excitement, too. So I'm wondering... will any of you guys do this? Hopefully you all have some friends that like Coldplay to share this with. It is quite the experience... I'll probably record us on video or something.

Roadie Update!!! - Up in Flames and DLIBYH make the cut
And we thought Moving to Mars was epic... they're really talking big about Up in Flames like it will be even better. Also, it Ssounds like DLIBYH will be another happy, upbeat song. Oh, how magical it will be when I get to hear this album for the first time. :D

Will they majorly change the setlist for the actual tour?
I hope so... it would be a bit disappointing to see the setlist stay mostly the same as the festival setlist (with the exceptions of the new songs from the album that they'll add). I hope the only thing that stays the same is MX/Hurts Like Heaven leading off and Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall finishing.

I THINK LP5 WILL BE CALLED 'MYLO XYLOTO'...
Spike has now attained sainthood here on Coldplaying. Even though he's not dead. :P ...and this guy lost.
