  1. ...................................... ouch...... okay, my argument in the jobless topic isn't going to be going very well now....
  2. Jay-Z? Jesus, that man is a terrible artist. I mean, most hip-hop as a rule isn't good, but Jay-Z is just... not that good. Or I don't like him very much at least. (Btw, I think you're thinking of Lost+ -- there are like four different punctuation marks you have to tell them apart by) Lost? has a really pretty piano solo. ^_^ I totally see where you're coming from. @ the "girls can bite" comment -- ah, you'd be surprised, little guy :P
  3. They're just trying to be fair to everyone. She should have just taken the test/aced it/continued with her life. What's the huge deal??
  4. Kay, so I didn't actually edit that earlier post with more talking - sorry, I've been sort of sidetracked recently. You guys do have a lot of good points. I'm going to talk some more now. Mkay. This goes back to what I said about there being property taxes everywhere. Since every peice of land is a part of a country (sans Antarctica, obviously) and every country more or less defends itself from outright invasion, EVERY property tax is in a way "protection money." Taxes all go to tons of different things -- one of them being the military. This is NOT the "America: love it or leave it" argument, this is the "This is what happens in every country" argument. Disagreed. The government does not go out and specifically tax specific companies. (Usually.) (Exceptions might be companies like tobacco/alcohol companies - I've heard talk that they may be taxed more to pay for healthcare.) Since every taxation on legal stuff is basically the same, all legal trade is (theoretically) as "free" and fair as the next legal trade. Underground economies are only different because they aren't taxed, obviously. If they were all taxed it would automatically go back to being free and fair because nothing else would be more free/fair (ie basically less taxed.) Not quite. Swedish people ARE more poor than us - BUT, they get so much for FREE, it doesn't matter anymore. If you look at the money we have that Swedish people DON'T have, most of it goes to paying for stuff Swedish people don't have to pay for. Higher taxes may not equal greater prosperity per se, but it does mean Swedish people have to pay less for things they need -- that is what a lot of the taxes go to. What I'm saying is that communism, (obviously Sweden is not communist, but they're about as close as you get in this modern world) succesfully performed, DOES work out for the good of the people -- that's its entire point. That is what happens in a true capitalistic society. However, what happens in a true communistic society is that everyone works as hard as they can, everyone shares all the wealth, everyone pulls their own weight, etc... See the U.S.S.R; that obviously didn't work. You can't have a true capitalistic society and a government that taxes people at the same time. I wouldn't get too into the theory of it - the U.S. IS approximately in the middle of communist and capitalist (what I said) and is probably leaning more toward capitalist (or as capitalist as you can get currently.) I was going to try to adress the gold standard issue that's been kicked around, but as I was typing I realized I really have no clue what I'm talking about. The issue of the whole gold standard/removal of it is really, really complex - I think if you haven't read books' worth of material on it you aren't really fully qualified to talk about it, so I'm keeping my mouth shut and will probably try to read more about it. Maybe I should stay this way on the rest of the issues as well, but I consider myself to be fairly well-informed about the economy - maybe it's just more well-informed than my "peers" (that is, unfortunately, high school freshmen - not the best peer set, I guess :P)
  5. Not scared, scarred. As in, mentally scarred. If you ask "scarred of what?" you should probably be able to see. It was supposed to be a humorous statement. Reading, boys and girls. It helps the world go round. Although, I am kind of scared too...
  6. I am scarred.
  7. I just ran that through Google Translate and this is what I got: Come with me to be alone To purge the ghosts To get into bed without touch Come with me to the mystery Not to make company A sleep without pretending that nothing happens Come with me to be alone Come with me into silence To talk without the words To know you're there by your side and I Come with me to embrace the absurdity of contactless You in your place I am in my Like a guardian angel Come with me to be alone Come with me In other words without the words Rioja is blessed to have you and just tell infidel this loneliness Come with me A love without saying A touch or rub with the reflection of your skin against the To think of me to live for you Come with me to be alone Come with me to be alone To calibrate my fears To poison a little of my memories For wanting a little bit And just as I love To detoxify the past Come with me to be alone And if the lights go out And if you turn the hell And if I'm lost You will be with me Rescue with a kiss Come with me to be alone as a spanish speaker, can you tell me how accurate this is? I'm trying to see how reliable Google Translate is.
  8. The MTV awards are all about commercialism - this isn't a big deal, all the succesful bands are getting nominated, even Katy Perry. That said, it would be nice if they win. :D

Occasionally. Then I start laughing harder XD. Do you own any pet birds?
  11. at once? :\ only if they were really small... Would you give up your favorite food for life?
  12. haha, yeah. Sorry 'bout your spark, guys. Us irresponsible adolescents just can't help ourselves. Blame it on the hormones.
  13. you guys stop hating on all hip-hop - it isn't ALL shit. Howevery my opinion on this particular cover is yeah, it is shit. He's just singing it exactly like Chris (only with less range) and changed the beat to be some sounds and clapping. Not very creative...
  14. the static's kind of icky... it sounds like a war zone or something :P Edit: there's a better vid on coldplay.com, everyone.
  15. Edit: just kidding. someone move this post or something, please...
  16. Ow. You know, that really hurts. :P
  17. Hello John - you shouldn't feel bad - I'm 15, so not much older than you. And you're not alone in liking Lost? better than the regular version - (on most days) I do too. :) Enjoy your stay. And don't worry about there not being many boys here - a few more of them hang around in the lower-section threads (lounge, news, etc). We won't bite. :P
  18. oh shit... I mean I know Chris said he'd be interested in Coldplay touring with Miley but I thought he was lying. And even if he wasn't lying he had better not tour with her - I would never go to a Coldplay/Cyrus concert. Maybe with Jay-Z, but never with Miley Cyrus. Unless she actually managed to perform well - probably not going to happen.
  19. yaaaay happy b-day Violet!! :D
  20. no... "Here it Goes Again" - OK Go (you know that vid on youtube with the guys on the treadmills? that's the song it's from.)
  21. Definitely. For a million dollars, would you give $1,000,000.01 to charity? :D
  22. no universe without... the big bang?
  23. eww I don't like Snow Patrol.... they're sort of a Coldplay ripoff... and I don't like ripoffs. :\ that being said I would probably be addicted to DeVotchKa or something - shit I already am. :P
  24. XD My freind saw a vid of Chris doing his little piano-stool-humping number and asked me very seriously if, since I was such a huge Coldplay nut, did I know if Chris had a chair fetish? It was very funny.
  25. I have NEVER seen anyone receive a hug with LESS ethusiasm. :P haha hold on, though, if he says he likes Miley Cyrus, why is he so uncomfortable hugging Taylor Swift? Chris seems like a very huggy person to me? Then again he could of just said he liked Miley to make her feel better... :P
