Coldplay sales Updates
Not really. Declining music sales and the economy have to be factored in. That was three years ago. So it's probably about equal. I think more impressive is PoC at #8 - I mean, it's not even a single. Although im pretty much 50/50 on liking the song, that's still a good sales tally for a non-single. Guess that's what they wanted though or they wouldn't have teamed up with Rihanna...

Features Backing Vocals Juanita Stein?
Oh well that explains it then! I just thought that was Chris singing all girly like :dozey: Who was the woman doing the backing vocals?

Is it safe to say that Mylo Xyloto is a UK sales flop?
Haha I don't see how you came to this conclusion. I guess if you are comparing to sales of the previous albums, but you just can't fo that anymore. People are legally buying less and less music, so the numbers go down year to year.

Features Backing Vocals Juanita Stein?
This! And yes, Howling Bells did open for them so that's probably how this came about. I had no clue there were female vocals on Rainy Day!!! :shocked2: Either I wasn't listening close enough or they aren't very noticeable (like on UWTB). I need to go listen again now! :escaping:

Best ending track?
Definitely Amsterdam for me. None of the other closing tracks have come close! Well, maybe Everything's Not Lost, but it's the runner-up for sure... Oh, and X&Y's should be changed to Twisted Logic/Til Kingdom Come since technically TKC is a hidden track just like Life Is For Living and The Escapist...

Coldplay sales Updates
Exactly. It's not really accurate to compare sales nowadays to previous years as music sales keep going down and the economy probably isn't helping much either!

'Collection of Mylo Xyloto reviews after the dust has settled' thread
Coldplay's 'Mylo Xyloto' Will Translate to 'Huge Debut' As previously reported, Coldplay is easily cruising to its third No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart next week as "Mylo Xyloto" will top the tally. While on Wednesday, the set was projected -- by industry sources -- to sell at least 440,000 to 450,000 copies by week's end on Oct. 30, that prognostication has grown a bit. "Mylo" should start with a minimum of 450,000 -- and could be bigger, depending on how the weekend shakes out. With lots of people out shopping this weekend for the Halloween holiday, anything is possible. A sales start north of 440,000 would secure Coldplay the third-biggest sales week of the year, behind Lady Gaga's "Born This Way" debut (1.1 million) and Lil Wayne's "Tha Carter IV" start (964,000). On SoundScan's Building chart below -- a precursor to the final Billboard 200 ranking -- reflecting the first four days (Monday through Thursday) of SoundScan's tracking week (which ends Sunday) as reported by six major merchants, Coldplay is expectedly found at No. 1. Kelly Clarkson's "Stronger" is at No. 2 on the Building Chart, while Michael Buble's new "Christmas" album sits at No. 3. Clarkson's new album is poised to become her fifth top three on the Billboard 200, with around 150,000 in sales. It follows 2009's "All I Ever Wanted," which launched at No. 1 with 255,000, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Buble's first full-length holiday offering could sell around 125,000 -- and is doing better than expected. Also projecting as a solid top 10 debut on the Building Chart is Toby Keith's "Clancy's Tavern" (No. 5) which would be the country star's 10th straight studio album top debut in the upper tier. Other top 10 entries could come from chart veteran Tom Waits and dance act Kaskade. For Waits, his "Bad As Me" set could become his first ever Billboard 200 top 10 in a chart career that began in 1975. See Chart Below: Nielsen SoundScan Building Chart Rank LW Artist Title 1 NEW Coldplay "Mylo Xyloto" 2 NEW Kelly Clarkson "Stronger" 3 NEW Michael Buble "Christmas" 4 1 Adele "21" 5 NEW Toby Keith "Clancy's Tavern" 6 3 Scotty McCreery "Clear As Day" 7 NEW Tom Waits "Bad As Me" 8 7 Lady Antebellum "We Own the Night" 9 NEW Kaskade "Fire & Ice" 10 6 Lil Wayne "Tha Carter IV" The Building Chart reflects the first four days (Monday through Thursday) of SoundScan's tracking week (which ends Sunday) as reported by six major merchants: iTunes, Trans World Entertainment, Best Buy, Starbucks, Target and Anderson Merchandisers. Billboard estimates that they make up about 85% of all U.S. album sales. http://www.billboard.com/#/news/coldplay-s-mylo-xyloto-will-translate-to-1005452552.story

[Article] VV - In Defense Of Coldplay: Understanding And Refuting The Deep, Smoldering Hatred For A
Because 'people' think rock bands should be grungy and on drugs/drunk all the time. They think Coldplay are too 'nice' and it annoys them for some reason. I know, it makes no sense. Hence why the author defends it in the sentences following that statement...

@ Corkus Actually surprised to see your ranking. I thought you really detested this record, but it appears you actually like more than half of it! :shocked2: Did it grow on you or something?!

[Article] VV - In Defense Of Coldplay: Understanding And Refuting The Deep, Smoldering Hatred For A
Yeah I don't think they've listened to them or given them a chance because they hate they are so successful. Some people are super snobby when it comes to music and commercialism - hence the term 'sold out'.

[Article] VV - In Defense Of Coldplay: Understanding And Refuting The Deep, Smoldering Hatred For A
I've come to realise that most people who hate Coldplay are just pissed off they have found a niche and are successful at it. People hate it when others have success in something they feel someone else (or themselves) deserve more. Basically it just boils down to jealousy in my eyes.

A hidden Track at the end the end of UFO?
I figured it was car kids too haha! Actually I thought it was the beginning of POC but then I realised it was still track 9. I don't get why this is the only instrumental not to get it's own track. Maybe 15 was too many!

WORST COLDPLAY ALBUM TO DATE
Gah! I voted Parachutes, but was thinking more about my ranking of the albums! I think this thread should be titled 'weakest' not 'worst'. Parachutes has the least amount of my favourite songs on it, but it's not the worst in terms of quality or consistency. So I would pick X&Y if I could change my vote. Even though it's my second favourite album overall, I feel it's the weakest in terms of a complete listen from start to finish.

Am I the only person totally in love with DLIBYH?
Probably my second favourite on the album so far behind CB.

~*~ The Official Will Champion Appreciation Thread ~*~
 Um, Will has been going 'bold' since the beginning of the band. That's why he shaves his head. I am frankly shocked you didn't know!!! :shocked2: The look works for him though. Now the real shocker is Jonny as he doesn't embrace it, but covers it up with hats all time!

[TIME Magazine] Do I Hate Coldplay? Or Just Think I Do?
LOL, it's so weird that this album's release has resulted in this bizarre articles analysing why or why not people hate Coldplay? It's so weird!!! I mean there's this article and the Village Voice one too. Both seem like a thesis on the subject!

Coldplay explosion in US iTunes!

A slight problem I have with the Album Version
Oooh, where I can I hear this?!

Princess of China needs to be promoted in US radio now!!!!
Well, as much as I'd like CB to be the next single, this might be. It's currently #4 (way ahead of Paradise) on iTunes top 10 and #1 in Alternative top 10. Add to that the fact when Coldplay.com said the album was available on iTunes with 90 second previews, they went out of their way to say this included Princess of China with Rihanna...

Coldplay explosion in US iTunes!
:shocked2: Really? I didn't think anyone could reach that milestone anymore, plus Billboard said that Coldplay are on track to have the biggest 1st week numbers since Lady Gaga in May, so that doesn't make sense!
