we do age...just ermmm...most of us tend to not look our age. Asians somehow are perceived to look younger than their actual age. as for Andy Lau...i suspect there's some botox in there somewhere. :P i love how Jonny & Pablo are pretty soft spoken type of guys. even in person...well, even Nathan too (i think). just that he's the lead guitarist so i guess we get to see Nathan talk more than the others & he seems to be more talkative if he's with Gary & they're joking around in an interview. another interview with Jonny in it... [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ISQzeS3MfKI&feature=related]Snow Patrol's Couch of Dreams with Gary and Jonny [/ame] ...together with a request for anyone in South America to give them a call. :wink3: can't really make out what Pablo's saying there in some bits of the interview myself. tho it's more to the fact that he speaks quite softly cos i feel he doesn't have as strong a Scottish accent as Tom...but then i don't really have much of a problem understanding their accents cos i've encountered ppl who speak with even stronger accents than theirs. i guess that's an advantage when it comes to understanding the SP guys. haha :P haha...i loved that acceptance speech! & how Nathan's seems to be all like "i get to make an acceptance speech for once...cos Gary can't talk! yay!" i don't have the AHMS bonus DVD :shame: ...any YT link of it? actually...i have the Eyes Open bonus DVD but i think i haven't really watched it. cos i only only remember there being a "Making Of..." video for You're All I Have, which was pretty short. but still funny...cos they were monkeying around on set, as usual. haha oh! oh! i know which interview you're talking about! but....i didn't bookmark it or save it. i tend to not save/bookmark interviews/photos. :shame: but is it a Dutch radio station interview/quiz thing Gary was being really competitive so he was fighting for points & the other guys are just laughing away? i'll post it if i somehow find it again... anyway, here's an interview from the Reworked Tour era that i personally haven't seen before... [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qDWThEHVC7k]Snow Patrol Interview[/ame] no comment about Mark either cos i also only got into SP after Pablo's joined already. but Pablo seems to keep to himself even within the band at times. maybe it's cos he has his own tastes/opinions that may differ from the rest...like how in the Japanese interview when they're asked for their fave songs from Eyes Open & Pablo's like "i don't really like any of them". :laugh3: oh, dear...but then Pablo always says he doesn't care for Gary's tales of heartbreak & how he screwed up his relationships when he's asked about the songs. :P & i read another interview where it turns out he's trained in piano, so he's got some interest in classical music stuff & he loved the Jane Campion movie The Piano so much that when the band toured NZ he insisted they go visit the beach that it was filmed at. now excuse me while i go spazz out for the hundred million-th time over this video & this song in particular... :wacky: :wacky: :wacky:

Do You prefer Autographs or Pictures with a band?
have to back you on that too. pix & autographs are great as a reminder of the experience, but the best would still be actually chatting with your fave actor/actress/band/singer/etc under less frantic situations (like when they're surrounded by other fans or in a rush to get somewhere). can't say i had any intelligent conversations with a-chan's guy. you lucky girl you. ;) i could only manage a couple of unintelligent mumbles 1st time i met him & his band mates elsewhere :embarrassed: & the other time he was surrounded by lots of ppl post gig. but i did get to have a chat with a few of the guys from The Domino State before & after their gig. the lead singer still owes a drink & the drummer promised to give something (whatever that might be) next time he sees us... :laugh3:

hmmm...well, i guess Asian movies are more of a niche thing outside of Asia. it's only recently they're starting to appear in Cannes & all. & yes! Takeshiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!!! hahaha :wacky: Andy Lau kinda freaks me out...he's a great actor, but the man looks EXACTLY the same now as he did when i was very little. & i'm not very young already by now! :inquisitive: & yes! Jonny should speak more! hahaha [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L8Z8bjLSIJs]Snow Patrol Interview in Tokyo[/ame] can't see it, but there's Jonny at 3:02 again cutting in with a cheeky answer: "it's the sex appeal" (& apparently done with a straight face once again from the look of his face) in reply to a question about the secret to their popularity. :laugh3: (the interviewer seems so sweet! hehe) so should Paul, actually...he seems funny... haha...i've no idea why, but kinda cracks me up when i saw "Nathan the blood technician"! :laugh3: hmmm...well, they *were* recording the TP show in London..........tho i somehow think that might be even less likely to happen, tbh. but i think the Reworked Tour's shows are unique enough that they deserve to be DVD-ised. :inquisitive: i mean, they may never do another proper/full Reworked Tour ever again. & yes! i'd really like to see a Tom/Gary/Jonny DJ session! i imagine it'd be an interesting set... :) btw, i can't help but note that Tom's got to angle his head upwards hugging Gary...............else he'll get a faceful of Gary's armpit. :P haha...parental units can get rather infuriating. i'm having loads of "Ohhh Mum!" moments with mine right now since she's visiting. :P hmmm....is Wong Kar Wai's stuff considered indie in Europe/US? i personally don't think of him as indie, but then that's cos i'm from Asia & i grew up watching his movies...along with the movies of the actors & actresses he usually casts...Tony Leung, Andy Lau, Faye Wong, Takeshi Kaneshiro... anyway, i'm starting to lose count of the things i have in common with Gary myself! it's getting freaky too...kinda. *lol* :P haha...interviews in a train FTW!!! :D & i love how Jonny comes in with that joke of his about the fortune teller at the end with a completely straight face!

an interview i stumbled on today... Snow Time For Love  & gotta love the Aussies for phrasing a legendary question like this: "A Hundred Million Suns would be a much better advertisement for you on a singles website." *rotfl* :laugh3: & Gary's answer! "(Laughs) Yes, that's one thing. I've got that going for me! It's funny, although it's a love record, I'm not really interested in . . . I'm not really in the mood for love (laughs), if I can quote a Wong Kar Wai film. There's no place for anybody in my life at the moment, I'm married to them four guys, and I'm happy as all get out." he knows Wong Kar Wai & his films!!! :shocked2: *kowtow to the man* :wacky: what i'd give to hear how his adorkable Irish voice pronounces "Wong Kar Wai"............ :bomb: on another note...married to 4 guys!!! d'awww...he really loves his 4 brothers!!! :wacky:

haha...now that you mention it... i can totally imagine Gary as Grissom, Paul'd be 1 of the lab tech guys, Jonny'd probably be the cool, tough police detective guy (i'm thinking of the CSI NY guy character who's of Irish descent, incidentally...haha), & ermmm...not quite sure what roles Nathan & Tom'd be in a SP CSI team. same here...in every way! :D geeky specs FTW!!! haha...Iain's SO like a little boy (literally), especially with Gary the Giant nearby. :laugh3: sounds & look pretty good for me...thanks for that! those hand gestures! adorkable! haha & how i wish they'd come up with a DVD for the Reworked Tour!!! c'mon, guys!!! :inquisitive: still think that red carpet should've been a black carpet...just to go with the theme... :P Jonny's pose! haha got a tough guy stance going there! & did they guys coordinate their shoes for Arthur's Day or did they all somehow buy the same shoes or something? heh & also...yes! poor Tom! he looks like he's almost got to go on his tippy toes to have his shoulder on Gary & Nathan's...or he could've gotten them to lift him up if he did support himself on their shoulders (if he was sneaky enough). haha :laugh3: sneaky looking Tom... EDIT: actually........i just noticed that he could only get his arm around Gary's waist! *lol*

tbh, methinks he can rock the geek chic look waaaaay better than a Barney Stinson "suited up" look...he only looks good in suits when it's a more smart casual tie-less look, like in the SFTTTB video. Gary looking goooood in a suit: Gary looking not-quite-that good in a suit: Geek chic Gary: oh, well... gosh! that is one HUUUUGE photo! huge enough for me to wonder where's Jonny (or is it the angle caused it to look like he's not there behind the drumkit?) & Tom? :inquisitive: heh & yeah, that secret pub gig thing would REALLY be a luck of the draw thing! & i'm not known for having any good luck with these sort of things...even with a lucky four-leaf clover in hand. :( but SP + a wee lil pub in Dublin + a pint of Guinness = :bomb: *sigh* & just for the fun of it...& cos of the look on his face with that "Snow Patrol" canned drink...hehe & just because this looks cute...reminds me of the self-taken photos you try to take with all your mates squashed together to try & fit into the photo! :laugh3:

haha...Anna! gotta love the Scottish (& Irish too, for me!) accent, eh? ;) i'm more of a fan of David Tennant's Scottish accent myself...i'd say Ewan MacGregor's too, except he actually doesn't have a very strong accent. :wacky: @nouratan: you might wanna work backwards from Only Revolutions if you're more familiar with their recent hits - the stuff that made them more popular this year, like Bubbles, Machines, The Captain. then go on to Puzzles. that's what i did anyway. i haven't gotten their earlier albums beyond Puzzles, but i've heard it's a different/heavier sound from the Only Revolutions album sound.

i'll bet it'd be funny/witty! 'cept 140 characters will never be enough, given how long his blog posts are. haha :P actually, Scott Hutchinson (the lead singer of Frightened Rabbit...that Gary's a fan of) tweets some really funny & interesting stuff, if you don't already follow @FRabbit. & he's offered over Twitter to play in the carpark for the ppl who went to see them at the U of Strathclyde Student Union tonite only to be turned away cos they're not studying there. i hope he/they did, that'd be such a cool & awesome gesture. anyway....back on topic: from the red carpet (i think they should've done a black carpet! haha :dozey: ) of the Arthur's Day celebration in Dublin: how is it he's dressed better for Arthur's Day than for the Q Awards? or did he learn from past gaff? heh looking good tho...

gosh, couldn't tell you're a fan from your username... ;) but yeah...i guess Pop (one of the first album i owned...back in the days of cassette tapes) is a underrated album, as far as U2 albums go. same goes to No Line on the Horizon.

ah, so it IS someone claiming to be him & barely posting then! i've read the few tweets on it & i thought the level of English was kinda suspect at times. for all my excessive use of Twitter, i agree with what Gary said about it in that Q interview (& i absolutely love that interview & the photo of him for it too!). you only have 140 characters including spaces & punctuations to write with so it's limiting...& ppl do resort to SMS-speak to shorten stuff. & we ARE ultimately just barking at each other over the internet... :dozey: oh, dear! poor Tom! bad enough he's the shortest & oldest in the group! he's stuck with all the luggages! :laugh3:

hahaha...i suppose by "the sight of them" you mean them 3 shirtless, tattoo covered & sweaty Scottish guys rocking away? :laugh3: they seem to really love playing shirtless! in Bristol it was an indoor music hall, but Simon & Ben were shirtless while James kept his shirt on throughout. :P & "Mon the Biff" or "Mon the Biffy" is the fans' chant for the band...no idea where it came from, but it's kinda like a rallying chant. & it sounds cool anyway. heh for a more precise explanation of what it means: Mon The Biff - A Scots Thing (it's explained in the last question in the interview)

*lol* SPOT ON!!! :laugh3: haha...i think i had a Nokia 3100 at some point, actually! :D oh, dear...i'm going to sound like the complete opposite of you & Gary! i do loads of stuff, many other things with my phone except...ermmm...actually using it to call/text ppl. i hardly ever call/text ppl. :dozey: well, it's pretty cool...provided you can think of a "hometown" that has been mapped quite extensively right down to being Street View-ed by Google. but it does take up a lot of computer processing power in order to be viewed smoothly on top of being "best viewed" on Google's Chrome browser. it never got beyond 76% on the Firefox browser for me, but ran really smoothly on Chrome on my desktop computer. anyway, what it really is, is an interactive music video where you can "write" a message to "the young you" at some point in the video & the town you see in it is customised to show the location you set as your "hometown". everything you see in that music video is fully controlled and timed using just HTML5, which is much more powerful technically than HTML4.01 because you can do much cooler things for websites with it (which was the real reason the "music video" was a big thing...the video itself is just a guy wearing a hoodie running around, shadows of birds flying around & some random trees popping up at times) and not need to install any extra things like Flash player to see the cool stuff. ....& i will shut up now, lest i cause your brain to collapse in on itself (as Gary would put it) with technical talk. btw, Gary lies. he does have a Twitter account. or at least someone who claims to be him and barely ever posts anything on Twitter anyway... ;) for those who can view it w/o any bugs/lagginess, i've made a version of the music video set in Bangor, County Down. & yes, i left a message...hahaha :wink3: http://www.thewildernessdowntown.com/#Bangor,+County+Down,+UK

nah, you're not weird. i (personally) don't think Nathan's very handsome either...especially compared to someone like Guy Berryman. :dozey: i actually keep thinking that Nathan always looks stoned out in all the interviews/photos i've ever seen with him in it. hehe i'm sure he's a nice guy & not a druggie/alcoholic/whatever, he just has that stoner look all the time. :P heh...that interview's great. seen it before, but thanks for posting it. it's the one where Gary shows his very low tech (to me, anyway...heh) Nokia phone in Part 2 & pretty much confirms that he is quite the technophobe. :laugh3: which is ironic given that the band itself, in terms of digital marketing, have a few impressive technological milestones: 1) the Snow Patrol (AHMS) music app...they were one of the 1st artists/bands to release an iPhone/iTouch app & would've been 1st ever, if Pink hadn't beat them. & they already have a 2nd iPhone/iTouch app that links to the SP.com forums & allows for user-created content & uploads. 2) that high speed data burst <whatever...excessively-technical-phrase-was-used>...which just basically meant that they were doing a high speed live broadcast of the event & it's a first because of the digital technology being used. now, what i'd like to see is a HTML5 web-based music video from the band. .......................................except Arcade Fire's already beaten them to it. :P & Gary might end up breaking it somehow. hehe  just wondering, but did that journalist misinterpret/misquote Gary's answer for the 2nd Tired Pony album? most interviews up to now have indicated they'd regroup & record in January, if possible. i'm sure the Tired Pony guys can muster up the energy to quickly bash together an album once again, but a January release seems quite impossible/rushed... oh! & i love the Global Beat For Peace videos! some of the drummers were playing from some very impressive/beautiful locations! (Caroline Corr, for example!) :wacky:

Linkin Park
don't think you'll find many Linkin Park fans in this forum, tbh... :dozey: i like the album. & i think the guys are right - this album needs to be listened in full & in sequence for the whole experience. not in chunks of individual songs. but i have to admit that they're sounding even less like the old Linkin Park from the Hybrid Theory & Meteora days on this album than on Minutes To Midnight. general complaint with Minutes To Midnight (which i also liked) was that there wasn't enough of Joe Hahn in the music. then with A Thousand Suns, there's loads of Mr Hahn, but now the complaint is there's not enough guitars...fans are so hard to please  ...especially those that like Linkin Park for the loud angsty music & not their current mellower sound. :P though i think MTV is being excessively overeager about A Thousand Suns to be comparing it to an iconic album like Kid A. it's good, but it may not have the musical influence to be compared to that Radiohead album (& i'm not even a Radiohead fan to begin with!)...for one thing, quite a few Linkin Park fans don't seem to like it & non-Linkin Park fans tend to just dismiss it as being another angsty/screamy/loud Hybrid Theory album.

i was regretting that i didn't have any jacket with me. was so sure it'd be as warm as the past few nights... & you'd think i'd know better after being in the UK for almost a year by then! :dozey: but that was pretty smart of you 2 to go to that little porch area for shelter. haha...yeah, it's a recent discovery for me too. & i'm guessing the interviewer's a gay guy who thinks Gary's fit. evidence: that intro line, complimenting him, asking about him taking his top off...& trust a gay guy to be fashion savvy enough to notice that Gary's wearing skinny jeans these days & baggy Levi's before this! can't say i do...but then i usually listen to Absolute Radio & they don't play rap stuff. his songs feel very like Calvin Harris to me...not really my cup of tea, but i don't hate it either. :inquisitive: i do like that 2nd video tho...alternating between the sketch animation & real life. :) oh & here's another newly discovered interview (for me at least)... Snow Patrol's Gary Lightbody Takes Our Pop Quiz some of my fave questions & answers: so THAT's why the LHC didn't work when it was supposed to! Gary broke it! :laugh3: it's true! what Bradley said! haha he *does* wear mismatching socks ALL THE TIME!!! too adorkable!!! :wacky: & in response to the video of him dancing his adorkable dance... :laugh3: oh, dear... :laugh3:  ...& lastly...he wants a tattoo?!?!

ah, i remember thinking you poor girls looked like you must be freezing from the cold & wet (& typically British) weather. to think we were having loads of sunshine right before that night! :\ i'm wondering how many pints of Guinness he'd had just before he went & put on those shades. :dozey:  & apparently his current less uni student-y dressing onstage is thanks to the U2 crew...seems he loved wearing baggy jeans & tees before one of the U2 crew badgered Gary into wearing skinny jeans & fitted tops. :dozey: the rest of the interview (done by the Seattle Gay News) here oh...& that first bit in the interview! Gary's answer is SO typical of him! :D (provided he's not being persistently annoyed... :P ) thank ye...tho i should say that i was star struck. & it still cracks me up how Jonny & Paul had to kinda squat down to accommodate this shorty... wish the photo with Paul didn't turn up so shaky & blurry tho...we looked pretty "chummy" there. :wink3: (even if it's still Gary >>> Paul for me) yeah, i guess it's cos Coldplay's now much more famous internationally. SP's considered big in the UK & Ireland, but they're not really *that* famous/popular, especially outside of UK & Ireland. the guys do joke about how they're never/hardly ever on any magazine covers cos they don't look good enough. bless them. :laugh3: (guess that does help them to remain not-so-recognisable in public at least) Min's doing fine. she's been travelling around & busy with life in general. she's taking a break away from CPing.com for a while til things settle down for her. :) gosh! i was wondering what in the world's an "example album".......................then i realised that the rapper's called Example! doh! :shame:

U2
it may also be that Simon personally is more a fan of Muse than U2. i'm not much of a Muse fan myself, though i do like a couple of their songs, but from the ones that i do like i'd say Muse has a harder/edgier sound than U2 in general? +1 to that too! though i'm guessing those of us who feel that way are generally of an older age group? late 20s or 30s & upwards? grew up in or lived through the 80s? i know a few teens who think U2 are overrated and that they are old stuff. these are the ones who'd insist that a more recent band like Coldplay or Muse are much better than U2. it saddens me as a U2 fan that they'd think U2 are overrated old geezers, but then that's their own opinion as a non-U2 fan. so fair enough, imo. anyway, what i'm trying to say is that it may have to do with which musical era we grow up in that shapes how we see a band that's been active & successful as long as U2 has. though, of course, there are exceptions to this theory of mine...like the youngsters who love The Beatles even though they're born way after the band called it quits.

oooh! so that's how you look like! i definitely remember you now! ...well, i remember seeing you anyway. :D & there he is in that blue shirt he got himself wet in for us...hehe i'm about 5ft2in/158cm & he's a good head taller than me. well, just about all the SP guys are much taller than me other than Tom, actually. i didn't really notice his eyes in Bristol (closest i got to the man himself!). :shame: was too busy trying to think of something more intelligent to say to him than "could you sign this for me?" :embarrassed: & thinking that his voice sounded really hoarse & staring at him in general...& thinking how tall he is & how bloody massive his hands are. my tiny little mini/keychain Sharpie looked even tinier in his hand...& disappeared into his hand eventually anyway, i think. haha & must suck to be Mark...he's sacked just around the time SP start to actually be successful. i guess that's why he tried to get the 25% of the profits so far...tho that's still a lot. especially when not all of the album & tour sales' profits go to the band themselves, from what i know anyway. i agree with you, actually. in terms of the gig experience, i've only seen SP once & it wasn't a "normal" SP gig, but it definitely felt more interactive & intimate than the 2 times i saw Coldplay (once in Singapore's indoor stadium and another at the massive Wembley). not saying that Coldplay aren't interactive, they do try. it's just the feel of the overall experience. imo, Coldplay's VLV gigs were very slick & polished shows & Chris is really entertaining & funny in general. but with the SP gigs, i think the key factor was Gary's crowd banters, which is quite different from the way Chris interacts with the crowd. he was entertaining us all, obviously, but at the same time he was directly interacting with individuals in the crowd - hugging a "scary" guy sitting cross armed the entire time up front, telling the ppl sitting up in the balcony at the very corner that they deserved a partial refund cos those are quite lousy seats, teasing a specific person/voice somewhere in the crowd if he hears something. & there's the fact that a typical SP gig rarely goes on w/o some sorta hitch like audio/technical problems or Gary forgetting/mucking up the words to his own songs. just makes it all seem less well rehearsed & more "real", in a way...Gary even came onstage with a white mug in his hand! :laugh3: as for post gig, i hung around a bit in Singapore after the Coldplay gig, which was how i met the lovely Min (butadream) & she'd told me that the others'd all gone off immediately after the gig finished except for Chris. & when he did come out, it was quite a while & he went straight into a van & was pretty much surrounded by security/crew ppl. he did wave to the few of us waiting around in the area as he left tho. with SP, it may have also to do with the fact that it was Bristol & the tour bus was just at the side of the road/venue & there weren't many ppl around anyway. but the guys were all really nice to us & all had a short chat with each of us...it did take Gary going back in to get them (Jonny, Paul & Nathan...Tom came out way before Gary or the others. ) to come out to save us waiting in the cold tho. heh & each of the guys would ask if we'd gotten a decent photo when we asked to take a photo with them before they walked away or focused their attention on someone else. heck, i was going to do one of them self taken shots with Jonny cos i was on my own, but he called Paul over to help me take a photo instead (!!! :stunned: :D ) & then Paul even insisted on taking another photo for me with Jonny just cos he thought the first photo was "all blurry and shaky" :wacky: (he could have very well not be bothered & just go back to drinking his bottle of cider really)!

afraid it'll likely still be 18+ only...i think even the Arthur's Day in Ireland has an age restriction cos some of the venues are pubs where they have surprise gigs by the artists/bands performing in their Arthur's Day events. *imagines the idea of seeing SP perform in some random pub in Dublin...awesomeness!* :wideeyed: & yeah, i know right? when they had the Arthur's Day event in Malaysia for the 250th anniversary of Guinness, i was like "why'd they choose Malaysia?"...not that i don't want a big music festival type event like it in Malaysia & i do know about that brewery cos i used to pass it every day on the way to college/uni, but it's like what you said & Singapore would've seemed the more obvious choice. then i went to Dublin & visited the Guinness Storehouse & found out why... :idea2: yeah! that show/musical...or whatever he wants to call it. cos i remember it even had chinese opera/acrobats in it! well, i mean "left field" in a sense that it's not quite what i'd usually listen to. there are some artists/bands/music that i just can't get myself to like, even if i try & regardless of whether they're mainstream or obscure or pop or metal or whatever. Radiohead somehow has always been one of them. don't really know why... yeah, i know that you were referring to the 'dance music' that Ace of Base did. i was referring to Lyvie, actually...i know 'dance music' is pretty broad, but i just don't think what Ace of Base were putting out falls under 'house music'. (pls pardon my momentary lapse into music snobbery/pickiness :embarrassed: ) he'd stand out like a sore thumb in Japan (or anywhere else in Asia, really)! :laugh3: i'd love to go for it too. my cousin went to Fuji Festival last year & from the photos he took, it looks amazing...the valley where it's held itself looks awesomely beautiful! even with all that mud... yeah, Gary even does radio DJing well! (is there any end to this man's talents???) when he subbed for BBC1's Zane Lowe, he got loads of praise & was voted the best celebrity DJ-sub for that period! (& as usual, he played mostly obscure indie stuff that i'd never heard of...) hahahahaha...i think that facepalm smilie pretty much sums it up! fuuuuuuuunkaaaay shades, garyL!!! never get tired of it either! & that is one REALLY strong Scottish accent...whoever it is talking in the background! may be Tom, but it sounds much stronger than i remember it... & Gary obviously has the height advantage there! but well done to Jonny for being able to launch himself far enough every time! haha
