  1. i laughed so hard when i saw that t-shirt!!! :laugh3: reminds me of the dinner bell in my friend's house (i've no idea why the family needs a dinner bell...reminds me of school!)...i had a good look at it & realised the engravings read "HMS Titanic" :dozey:
  2. sound's very subjective...the best would be if you know of a shop that'll let you try on the earphones/headphones, preferably with your own music collection, before you commit to buying them. only problem is most shops don't offer the "try before you buy" option for earphones/headphones. personally, i've been using Ultimate Ears for a good 4yrs+...my 1st pair was the UE Super.fi 3 Studio & recently i got the UE700s (lucky enough to grab them at 50% off). pricey, but they're comfy as hell...& i wasn't a big fan of in-ear monitors before this. :D oh...& they have like a HUGE list of bands/musicians/roadies using their products. tho the brand in itself is largely unheard of.
  3. haha...gues Impatient Man #1 was not happy with Gary's dig at him? :P guess they took the footages with the best shots? they seemed to have some problems with the video camera on my side of the Rear Standing area where i was. cos i saw some techs fussing over it at times. not sure about the others. i'd love to have it as a DVD too...tho i think that the fact that the band and/or record company allowed for the full London gig (with banters) to be available online for free is a brilliant PR move. definitely not something we get to enjoy every day. :D & thanks loads for the MP4 file link! now i can keep it for posterity :sneaky: ....good times! :D
  4. there seems to be a guy leaving the crowd midway in that screencap... :inquisitive: :whip: haven't watched the whole thing yet myself, actually...just the first song & a bit. just to see if the banter's in there...they are! :wacky: :wacky: :wacky:
  5. *lol* if it is, that's quite a bad case of dandruff there! :laugh3: i actually thought that he had on a sparkly top...haha
  6. think i have to agree with you, Anna...even tho i became a fan because of their albums first. then it just built up from there after seeing them live. have a friend who insists that SP aren't a good band based on her opinion of their album (Final Straw: good at the start, then starts getting boring after Run). i told her they're actually really good live & definitely more loud/rockier sounding, but she thinks that there's no point listening to a band's songs or even seeing them live at all if they're only good/better live. oh, well...to each, their own. i haven't gotten a chance to see him live, but i heard Newton Faulkner's really good live too. tho it might have to do with his style of playing the guitar - using it as both a string instrument & a percussion.
  7. but *lol* that line is "pure comedy gold" (as Gary himself'd put it)! hmmm...come to think of it, the book of world records is Guinness' idea/property anyway. wonder if his name's on it for most pints of Guinness drunk (w/o ending up in a hospital due to alcohol poisoning). :dozey: btw, doesn't our guy look frigging overjoyed to be holding that pint of Guinness there? :P & allow me to end with....Kellogg's t-shirt FTW!!! :laugh3: (& i just realised that i've used at least 1 smiley per line on this post...go me! :D <--- cheesy grin)
  8. +10000000000000  i wonder how Jonny handled the situation. personally, i'd freak out...in my own not-showing-it way. :P the idea of 5 grown men freaking out over an equally panicked bat has got to be a bloody hilarious sight! :laugh3:
  9. oh, yeah...definitely! i don't want them to make a U2-sounding album...as nice as it is to hear hints of U2 in the Reworked version of The Planets Bend Between Us (tho i note that the delayed echo sound is handled by Johnny McDaid & not Nathan). it would be great & possibly incredibly ironic if the next SP album is recorded or features photos from the same Joshua Tree spot & turns out to be SP's own The Joshua Tree...metaphorically. really interested to see (well, ok..."hear" is more appropriate) what the guys have/can come up with & what Gary can "branch out" to in terms of his songs' stories. btw, i think i've read his blog post about the bat at least 2 times already, but this bit really cracks me up all the time! :laugh3:
  10. oooh...nice interview. tho i think the interviewer's out-cornified my LeeAnn Rimes remark. :P   thank you! ...tho it's long over already. it was on 3 Oct...kinda in between/during the TP US tour! ;) :D yeah, as long as he doesn't go on any drinking bender binges & gets all piss drunk, he can drink all he wants as far as i'm concerned. & i'm guessing that he isn't so strict with his "no drinking while touring" self-policy for 1-off gigs or 2-gig tours. :dozey: ah, ok...nice to "meet" you, Christina. :D
  11. +1 for coffee... :D
  12. haha...yeah, i know exactly what you mean! now i can't help at least grinning/smirking to myself when i hear that part of that song! :laugh3: funnily enough, at the gig during that banter bit, it kinda felt like i was the only person in my section who got it or at least found it hilarious enough to LOL. i think they tweaked the arrangement slightly... the trumpet bit felt kinda Paolo Nutini-ish, actually (Pencil Full of Lead style/sound for the trumpet). but it's still great & quite apt for the city that's home to Arthur & Guinness on Arthur's Day. +1 to that too...& for Gary to get his arse back on the blog blogging his massive posts. & the "dog cat dog cat..." conversation brings back memories of London post TP gig with Ilione! btw, if you guys didn't already hear about this, the BBC's stolen Gary's game show idea (sort of)! :P [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=06Lqv6ZgKKk]Human Canon - 101 Ways To Leave A Gameshow[/ame] oh & i probably already said it before, but SP + The Joshua Tree is just frigging awesome!!! can't frigging wait!!! & U2's The Joshua Tree is my fave U2 album (possibly all time too, actually)!!! :bomb: :bomb: :bomb:
  13. don't worry, last i heard JT's putting his music career on hold for acting...thanks to that Facebook movie...which i'm actually really eager to watch once it's out in the UK! & it's not cos of JT (or the guy who will be the next/new Peter Parker)! :dozey: & i'd like to claim all this Tired Pony goodness, including the hung over band giggle fest (too cute!) as my b'day present from the band! :D :P  loving the new song, which btw, i'm a bit confused, but was there only 1 newly written just the day before (again) song or 2? cos i'm pretty out of the loop lately... :shame: awww...that's a shame. so have to agree with you that i'm glad i was in London too! :D cos it looks like there was no adorkable dancing during Silver Atoms from Gary in NYC/LA either... :wink3:  awww...too cute! even if i can't even see his face & it looks blurry! :laugh3: "...my very good friend and long time lover" *rotfl* :laugh3: & yes, it would appear that he seems to have a "oh fuckin' hell" (as he'd put it himself) attitude to drinking during a gig/tour now. he did have a beery scent on him post gig in London too...& there's the Guinness event (all bets are on that he had to have had at least a pint on Arthur's Day :sneaky: ). :dozey: yes, i do!!! at least she's not shouting away for Gary even in broad daylight this time...i hope. must've been 1 helluva after party in LA from the size of the water bottles some of the guys were carrying with them to the radio session! *lol* :P hung over, thirsty from dehydration & dragged outta bed while the sun's still out...oh, joy...at least Garrett & Gary still had fun running round & round the rotating door like little kids! haha :dozey: great to hear that Gary's DJing again (tho very likely under the influence...heh)...ah, to be able to see the man behind the decks live!    btw, i REALLY can't resist pointing this out but...........that photographer's name! LeighAnnHines...country-tinged music of Tired Pony...LeeAnnRimes ..........anyone? :wink3: oh & before i forget, congrats on your brother's wedding, coldplay_is_louve! :)
  14. that's probably the bit he messed up...he sometimes forgets specific words rather than entire chunks of the song. (but i think he forgot "those three words..." onwards at the Odeon gig & either caught up in time or jumped ahead to "if i just lay here..." onwards) he burst out in a giggle mid-song at the Bristol gig & he said it's cos he very nearly sang the wrong word for The Golden Floor..."i'm a pheasant in your princess arms" instead of "i'm a peasant in your princess arms"! totally different meanings! :laugh3:
  15. heh...right place & right time i guess. since their equipment are already in LA + Gary himself is in the US with Tired Pony. you frigging lucky Mexicans!!! :bomb: how in the world did i miss that when i watched the Arthur's Day show on ITV2 last night??? :inquisitive: then again, they only showed SP playing 1 song (Take Back The City)...i'd have preferred more, but i'm just happy i even chanced by the show last night! :dozey: anyway, back to his trusty Macbook...i don't think he's trying to cover it, actually. that black sheet looks a lot like a chair cover. i used to have to stare at function rooms full of chairs with chair (cloth) covers in my old job. :dozey: & it's very very very likely that every single chair cover used at the venue were black to go with the Guinness/Arthur's Day theme. cos it's like you've said...else Gary doesn't usually try to cover up or hide his Macbook anyway. tho he must've not been looking at it much if he managed to still muck up Run & Chasing Cars with it nearby! *lol* but bless his bad memory...i love that Olive Grove video. haha & the Up To Now DVD too. *sigh* :D the other guys say that the fans most of the time know the words to songs like Run & Chasing Cars much better than Gary himself! :laugh3: indeed!!! :D :wacky:
  16. hmmm.........Gary sings the blues! (thinks of Blues Brothers)
  17. :laugh3: i was just trying to read the words along his waistline...honest. :sneaky: *lol* that'd be like the ULTIMATE in Irishness...drink Guinness, eat Guinness (Guinness beef pie/stew = yum!), brush/gargle with Guinness! :laugh3: well, given that Gary pretty much wrote 4 emo-worthy albums worth of songs about doomed relationships or how he screwed up a relationship, happy endings don't seem to be his cup of tea anyway... :dozey:
  18. haha...so i'm like the only one who just had to be looking at that region of the photo? :sneaky: :P j/k haha...yeah. the monochrome-y colours suit Nathan. hard to imagine them doing electronica + country in 1 album, but i guess it's like you said...only time will tell how the new album's sound shapes up once they get started on it. a bit? he's like a hardcore workaholic lately! at the rate he's going, figures why the man's got no time for a relationship beyond his "marraige" to his 4 brothers from other mothers. :dozey: he'd better not burn himself out tho! :\ as the saying goes, all work & no play makes Gary a dull boy...well, not really. i'm sure he'd never come across as a dull boy, tbh...& he did manage to allow himself enough time to watch Inception twice anyway. that's hardly work related. heh :P
  19. ^^ link posted on the TP MM thread! :)
  20. oooh...i hope someone'll post it on YouTube shortly after their appearance. so's i can watch it. :) haha...Jacknife's quite a character! i still remember him shouting "Gary Lightbody" from the window he was leaning out of & Gary shouting back "Garrett Jacknife Lee". :laugh3: & i'm still hoping Gary'll write a blog post about Scott Pilgrim...cos i bet he'll like that movie. even if he isn't a video game fan, but it's full of comics & indie music/band references. haha...yeah! & i love the end when he sings that really sweet (yet very cheesy) song for her after Billy Idol's hilarious PA announcement "& since we let our 1st class passengers pretty much do whatever they want, here he is..." :laugh3: *lol* his belt(?) there says "PLAIN LAZY"!!! :laugh3: oh...watched the AHMS videos & realised it's pretty much the same as what's in the SP iPhone AHMS app. but i think the iPhone app's videos are shorter & that last one (Webisode 4) wasn't in it...either that or i'm just not efficient enough in unfolding every single origami sun in that app. :dozey: & the Jacknife Lee Studio Safari isn't in the app either...what a name tho...Studio Safari! as for the news...hmmm............Tom's kinda contradicting whatever hints the others've dropped about the new album so far. i mean, Gary & Nathan both did say they're not really going to go all out electronica when Just Say Yes came out...& Gary's said it's mainly cos Jonny'd get bored since he'd have barely anything to do/play on the drums on an electronica-laden album. & Jonny himself mentioned recently they'd be going for a more stripped down acoustic sound after listening to bands like The National lately. anyway..........it also seems like SP's rhythm section are multi-instrumentalists & Jonny can play the guitar too? or did i interpret this wrongly?
  21. well, i intend to get the Silver Atoms from the link Dargarius posted. but i need to go meet my project supervisor at uni. once i'm back & have the time to get it, i'll post the link on the MM thread.
  22. yeah! that's insane that he managed to get the hang of the bass in just 2 days! *shivers* yeah...the 80s. with the exception of U2 & U2's The Joshua Tree... :P actually...i'm watching Wedding Singer right now. it's really reminding me of the weirdness that was 80s fashion & music...& that keyboard/guitar hybrid thing (that i once had too... :shame: :P) :dozey: next year!!! *fingers crossed*
  23. oooh...you really are a Sherlock! & yeah, i wouldn't spend money to go all the way to the US to see him perform as much as i love the guy too. then again, i'm only willing to go to London + 2hrs on the train only cos i'm currently in the UK. not that dedicated a fan, i'm afraid. heh :dozey:
  24. heh...i guess Spinal Tap's like THE reference point for any rock band. it keeps getting brought up in just about any interview with a rock band. :dozey: thanks loads for the video links! shall watch them later...watching Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution right now. heh okies...looks like i really haven't given it a proper watch yet then. :shame: *puts it on the now very long list of movies/shows to watch after i hand in my dissertation* yeah, the voiceover was kinda annoying...initially thought it was a YouTube feature thing. but i love the end bit where Gary & Jonny (well, Gary mostly...& with a sneaky seductive look at Jonny slipped in :laugh3: ) joking around about having set a date for their wedding & getting married in multiple states. haha haha...yeah! talented multi-instrumentalists rhythm guys! but Tom's pretty talented too, imo...for someone who never played the piano/keyboards until he became part of SP. well done, Tom! :D *lol* what can i say? i'm a sucker for this song... :laugh3: oh & this interview reminded me of that photo & your caption for it about Gary's opinion of 90s music! haha except he's talking about 80s music here...which probably was a worser period for music/shows/fashion than the 90s. :inquisitive: :dozey: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_6owDPEJMaM&feature=related]Snow Patrol - Interview at PinkPop 2009 - arte[/ame]
  25. i'm curious to know how you know that she's going! :P but yeah! i really do hope for her sake (not even Gary's!) that she doesn't harrass him & make an embarrassment of herself again...
