haha...yup, it's in Temple Bar. i was staying in the hostel just opposite of that wall! :) & your photos are brilliant! haha his face, especially in that 1st one! :laugh3: yup, it's famous for "the black stuff" - Guinness Stout...incidentally, the Irish in Dublin also know of our humble little country because of Guinness. that was so amusing & kinda cool to find out. *lol* the massive Guinness brewery in Malaysia was the 1st Guinness brewery outside of Ireland/UK. which is why we get to hold an Arthur's Day celebration too like they do in Ireland. & no, Boston isn't that near to Ireland. you'll need to have had quite a few pints of Guinness before you can see Boston! :laugh3: i love what Damon Albarn's been churning out as part of Gorillaz. he & Jamie Hewlett even did a musical of the mighty Monkey God! w00t!!! :D & yeah, Radiohead's also from the 90s britpop era...i know their songs, like Karma Police, Creep (then again, who doesn't know THAT song?), but i can't really say i like their songs in general. guess they're a bit too left field for my taste. :\ eeps! don't put house music with Ace Of Base! :shocked2: cos i actually like house music...heh...especially French house music - Daft Punk!!! Gary likes to put them on to get the party started when he's DJing too...great taste! as always! i think it's pretty cool that the SP guys dabble with electronic music a lot outside of SP. & they're more into stuff with funk & soul beats in them...the good stuff. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QaFj7OXXG7g]Cut La Roc feat. Gary Lightbody - Fallen [/ame] [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Tbi3jy-HGA]Cut La Roc 'Mishka' Featuring Gary Lightbody [/ame] & from the extended SP family... :) [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Nd5Cn099tQ]Paul van Dyk feat. Johnny McDaid 'Home' [/ame] *lol* yeah! that story's hilarious the way Gary tells it! must've been quite a weird/funny moment...even Nathan's laughing thinking about it. haha...was thinking his hair looked funny too! but it's a lovely photo still! "d'awww"-worthy. :wacky: & i didn't really like Merlin either. only watched it cos my best friend passed the show to me to watch. it only got a bit more interesting for me in the 1st season towards the 2nd half...else i felt it was kinda draggy & the characters had some really cheesy lines. so didn't bother to look up the 2nd season even. love the Japan tour diary too! they looked like they were really having fun out & about in Tokyo...taking their underground train & having sushi & all. they were playing at the same festival as my fave Japanese indie rock band too! :D yeah!!! what do you mean i don't love you? i am standing here, aren't i? is there a t-shirt i can wear? cause i'm soaking, look at me

haha...yeah! it's like U2's everywhere! & even at the hostel i stayed in in Dublin, i ended up with a room where the window was looking out at a massive "Wall of Fame" & i got to see (a very young) U2 every day. :laugh3: (so Gary should be happy for me there... ;) ) oh, hello U2...top o' the morning to youse*! * i actually heard an Irishman say that out loud...my lil sis did too (cos i was on the phone with her) she was incredibly amused to find out that the Irish really do say that greeting! :laugh3: yeah, i like The Way I Are (maybe the music video more than the song...cos they had freestyle footballers on it). really like Throw It On Me (which is the one with The Hives)...catchy tune with attitude. i didn't try screaming anything at the edge of Ireland. i think ppl might've thought i'd gone bonkers...or had 1 pint of Guinness too many! haha tho i did get a few Irish guys telling me i can see Boston from where i was (the proverbial "edge of Ireland"...The Cliffs of Moher). & i kept telling them i'm pretty sure they're joking...unless my geography's really that bad & America's really closer to Ireland than i thought. it was great for a laugh tho... :dozey: heh...yeah. i'm guilty of my share of boy band pop stuff & i remember that frigging Macarena & later that bloody infernal Crazy Frog craze. :P but i also remember the 90s for all the Britpop music led by "the mighty Oasis" (as Gary'd put it) & there was all the Nirvana, Stone Temple Pilots, Pearl Jam...the Seattle grunge stuff. & the not-quite grunge stuff like Smashing Pumpkins & Silverchair. & the Metallica, GNR stuff. *sigh* whatever in the world happened to our Malaysian radio stations? :( btw, a-chan, simply loving those screencaps! they're so handy as big Gary-centric "emoticons"! :D

I Know! Let's Have A U2 Week!
hmmm...probably works out best for me if it's in October too. :P 1 less thing for me to worry about in September... i might be rather busy in the 1st week of October tho. so if it could be on the 2nd week or later, that'd be great for me. if possible.

haha…I don't think I can ever get old of that song :wacky: :wacky: :wacky: (it's SO gonna be played at my wedding…once I get round to finding a guy like Gary to marry 1st… :shame: :P :laugh2: ) I think I saw Troy onstage too tho…so it depends on who you're referring to. pretty sure the guy jamming with Nathan at times & the one playing the delay/echo bits (ala The Edge) is Johnny. yeah, my fave version is still the original/album version. album Planets > Reworked Planets > single Planets …tho I still love that song to bits. especially when listening to it: 1) at " the edge of Ireland" *sigh* :wacky: 2) while walking around after "the winter's marked the earth" 3) sitting on a bench in my uni's garden in autumn (the colours of the leaves remind me of the AHMS album's origami suns!) I practically grew up listening to U2! hehe but I guess that's expected of a child of the 80s (that's me :P) & darnit! I can't watch that video of Gary's msg about U2 at the moment… :bomb: errrmmm…let's see, to me, the difference between Flo Rida & Timbaland is that 1 just raps about "spinning right round baby right round" while the other does cool songs with The Hives. ;)

he is...admitted it during the Reworked gig in Bristol (don't have it on video tho...security was really strict all night anyway). there was some audio/mic feedback during a song & he was wondering aloud who's mic was the cause cos they're gonna get it from him (said jokingly). then he said that it's Jonny's mic...so he's not gonna say/do anything cos Jonny's able to beat him up easily. :laugh3: & Tom thinks Jonny's the "Darth Vader" of the band. nuff sed. :P awww...."a lovely band of minstrels"!!! (what a way to describe them! haha) :D U2 loves SP...that's is all i need to know! hahahaha my 2 fave bands...tho i love U2 more...who both just happen to be Irish (or part Irish anyway). think there was a change in lineup? Timbaland can't come so it's Flo Rida now (prefer Timbaland to Flo Rida...not that i'm going. :P) & i *may* have mixed Juice up with Junk, but i did see an announcement on Twitter/FB that the mag'll no longer be published. :\ ah...great to see that they are still playing the Reworked version of Planets. w00t!!! but it looks like they're still tweaking the sound for it. hmmm... & yeah, that was what i thought the 1st time i heard it in Bristol: they've been influenced by U2! & for my fave song too! haha  nice to see Johnny McDaid again too. i like the song he did with Paul Van Dyk (Home). :) OMG!!! they actually played a Tired Pony song on M'sian radio??? thought that would never happen!!! honestly!!! :stunned: (but it's great that they did, of course) & Gary's kinda all over 1 of my PCs...cos of the wallpaper i made when i got bored of programming stuff. hahahaha & he's on my phone too...

ooooh...so that's the guy! he kinda reminded me of REM/TP's Scott Mc...ermmm...don't really know how to spell it. must be the hair. :P & yeah...changed avi + nick. heh ;) i just love how he disturbs the others onstage...aside from Jonny. bit hard to get behind his wall of drums/drumkit + Gary's scared of Jonny. :laugh3:

was brought up cos SP supported Coldplay on the US leg of the Viva La Vida tour. these days interviewers tend to ask them about how it's like touring with 2 of the biggest bands in the world. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I3rNP7M_6Ys]Snow Patrol Interview[/ame] incidentally, SP used to support Biffy Clyro & Athlete back in the early days...look how far they've come now! :) i guess that's why Gary's always writing about lesser known indie bands in Q mag & his blog/forum posts. a lot of them are seriously obscure bands that i wouldn't know about if not for him. i blame my recent obsession with The National on him. that song England is a killer track! :P [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XcVy86-n_xI]SNOW PATROL STILL AN INDIE BAND AT HEART[/ame] yeah...well, most of them anyway. they're all very nice guys. & i'm now gonna keep my camera for life, man! hahaha Pablo took photos for me with it...thanks to Jonny! :wacky: saw an interview once where Tom said they'd like to next tour to parts of the world that they haven't been to before & he mentioned Singapore as an example. & there's a music festilval in Indonesia where the organisers put SP on their festival wish list. or maybe Guinness can work on getting them to do Arthur's Day in Malaysia next year! :wink3: but knowing the Malaysian/Asian market/music taste, it's probably going to be an American dominated hip hop, R&B heavy thing again... i like Juice too...pity they won't be publishing the magazine anymore. but at least they'll still be around online.

he is!!! he's frigging adorkable!!! he'll even go get his bandmates out of their party to save you waiting in the freezing cold & will even get himself wet in the rain for you... :D which brings me to once again say: "dammit Gary! how the hell am i going to find a guy who matches up to the high standards you keep setting???" :inquisitive: (yes, i am a lost cause...beware the dangers you face in a close encounter of the Snow Patrol/Lightbody kind) & i really want SP to come by Malaysia...for the sake of my fellow Malaysians...most of whom know Chasing Cars the song more than the band & think that they're either: 1) a 1-hit wonder (Chasing Cars) 2) Snow Patrol = Gary Lightbody = Snow Patrol (what about his 4 other "brothers"?) 3) a boring band musically/live 4) can't believe that Run is NOT a Leona Lewis song but at least they've been interviewed by JUICE Malaysia (i was SO happy when i saw this on FB!) http://juiceonline.com/blog/interview-snow-patrol/ he swears a lot, but he does make his swearing more "child friendly" when he knows there's children around (Tired Pony gig...Jacknife Lee's 2 adorable kids were there & sang onstage) or when his mum's in the crowd (1 of the Reworked Tour shows at RAH)...in which case, you'll hear loads of "oh, fudge!" or "oh, sugar!" :laugh3: too adorable!

i can't really see who it is (not that i know any of U2's crew to begin with), but that guy seems to be really enjoying sharing the mic with Gary...great stuff! & liking that red shirt/white tie/grey(?) jacket combo... :wacky: U2 + SP = EPICNESS!!! btw, i noticed in the Q interview video that Gary & Nathan are all gushing about U2...& continued/diverted back to U2 even when Coldplay was brought up. (just saying...)

Hello Malaysia!
that's actually quite cute! ;) & my friends don't actually call me that. it's my own idea...cos they all say that i'm almost always seen with a cup of coffee at lectures or in the lab & when i was working, my colleagues & me'd go to the kopitiam during lunch for kopi also or sneak off to the operations/kitchen back area for freshly brewed coffee. talk about feeding an addiction...haha

Fallout: New Vegas
if you're a serious gamer & love Japanese RPGs & want to watch Blu-Ray = PS3 if you're a serious gamer but don't really care for Japanese RPGs & prefer RTS/FPS games = new computer if you're not a gamer (at most only a casual gamer, e.g Tetris > Starcraft) & you're more keen on listening to music on the go = Sony headphones + iPod Touch

Biffy Clyro

hehe...he was probably thinking "bloody hell! i couldn't be arsed to dress up for an awards show..." & probably also didn't think to consult with Tom on what he'd be wearing. :P ;) btw...i'm just poking fun at him. not criticising him. what balls to dress that way for an awards show! the man's just too bloody adorkable! :wacky: :wacky: :wacky: & from the sound of his Inception post, he doesn't give a rat's arse about attending/dressing up for VIP/glamour events... ah, i still remember when i 1st saw that on TTB...i laughed so hard right from the start & just couldn't stop even giggling! :laugh3: recently found this & am still loving it...even if it's really just the melody of Chasing Cars that's used here... [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JEtuJ_IiJI0&feature=player_embedded]Chasing The Broken Hearted[/ame] i wonder if the guys'll like this mash up...they didn't seem to be too keen on that other (more popular/famous) mash-up. heh :P

it's an unusual choice for an opener...since it's a B-side & quite unknown to most (like me). but it does a great job of setting the mood & getting the crowd going!
