Why do I dislike AHFOD so much?
Yes. I will never understand why Coldplay feels entitled to certain sounds or songs. So what if you don't want to dance? Does that mean your favorite artists and bands has to sit in a boring box and do nothing but the same? Dude, they have said over and over and over they could not care less about if people like them or like AHFOD. And how has the band degraded their quality since Viva? I swear, this argument is repeated with every album since X&Y -- and I wasn't even a fan until 2008. I get the feeling a lot of people (of fans of any band) can't accept things change, even if it's not the direction you wanted them to. OP is bitter as fuck.

[The Telegraph intv.] Coldplay: 'Rock music has nowhere left to go’
No, I know. Coldplay just does it best (in my opinion). I agree with Chris' comments and I'm happy they're happy.

[The Telegraph intv.] Coldplay: 'Rock music has nowhere left to go’
What on earth? How was pop in 2005 more meaningful than today's? Pop music has been the same since its inception. Of course it evolves, but the same idea is behind it -- to create popular music. Here are some of the most popular songs from 2005: Hollaback Girl Candy Shop You And Me Beverly Hills Pon de Replay Rich Girl Compare that to 2015: Thinking Out Loud Uptown Funk Bad Blood What Do You Mean? Hello Love Me Like You Do If anything, pop music has gotten better. Coldplay has in no way "ruined" anything just because you don't think pop music is good. And seriously, half the "overproduced" songs I see a lot of people complaining about are there for a reason: to get people to dance and have fun. Did we learn nothing from the late-1990's and early-2000's? No, I wouldn't. But there's a large difference between 'pop rock' and 'rock'. Imagine Dragons, Bastille and OneRepublic are all pop rock, even if they do have a few 'rock' songs.

I would not consider any of those bands actual rock acts. At all. Especially OneRepublic. Anyways, you guys are overreacting just a bit to these comments. The band is far from over, and Chris' comments are 100% correct.

I'm still bitter that they've never played it.

AHFOD Reviews by Music Critics
Nah, I understand. Metacritic is a community itself though, so even if we had 100 10-star reviews, there would be 150 3-star reviewers from naysayers.

AHFOD Reviews by Music Critics
I absolutely love the album, but I agree with imm1482. Just because the band put work into an album doesn't mean everyone has to or needs to love/like AHFOD and give it 10/10 reviews for no reason. If you enjoy it, good. If you don't, too bad.

I had no idea how great these lyrics were until now. Damn!

AHFOD Reviews by Music Critics
I could tell they had a hard-on for this album when they kept pimping the AOAL/HFTW audio. Even their dedicated readers were like wtf why are you promoting Coldplay so much? You'd think they'd reach out for an interview, but I suppose not.

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
Well, one thing to keep in mind is that everything is still fresh, even if it's been a month since some of the stuff has been out. I felt like that with the Ghost Stories era at first, but now I get those 'classic' feelings when I listen to stuff like Always In My Head and Ghost Story.

Right? I'd say the album would be around a 70 or so if they included the places that actually liked the album.

Haha, it's funny isn't it? To be fair, X&Y is only like a fraction higher than AROBTTH. :p

AHFOD - YOUR reviews
I keep forgetting this album has only officially been out for two days, because it feels like much more. Whether or not that's because I've been having so much fun with this album remains to be unseen, but I forget if I've put up a proper review yet. There's something about Coldplay's long-titled albums, isn't there? A Rush of Blood to the Head sent Coldplay from a nice, but quiet alternative group to a worldwide band ready to take over the world. Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends came after their first widely criticized album (for some reason) and ended up resulting in the best-selling album of 2008. Now, I'm not saying A Head Full of Dreams is going to capture that same largeness, but it certainly captures the same energy. For me, at least. I went in Thursday night thinking this album was going to be a disappointment based off almost every post on Coldplaying and /r/coldplay. If it isn't based around guitars, it's shit. But holy shit was I proved wrong. The transition from AHFOD --> Birds --> HFTW floored me off the top, and I even found myself liking the infamous X Marks The Spot despite assuming it was going to be like a piece of wet toilet paper in a junkyard. There's nothing wrong with not enjoying the album of course, but I swear it's like some people are just looking to hate anything they produce. Without a doubt, my favorite tracks are A Head Full of Dreams, Birds, AOAL, Fun, Army of One, Amazing Day and Up&Up. This is the first album since becoming a fan of Coldplay in 2008 that I don't want to skip a track. With Viva, it's Cemeteries of London, Lost and Viva La Vida, with MX, it's Charlie Brown (ugh), Paradise, and DLIBYH, and with Ghost Stories, it really depends on my mood. The only songs I genuinely like/love are Always In My Head, Ghost Story and Midnight. Now, I know it's only been two days, but I fucking love every single song on AHFOD. Even the ones that get the least playtime are still good. I remember when the other two albums released, I got bored quickly and annoyed from certain tracks within my first few listens. This album just fucking clicks for me. The band went a direction none of us were expecting, but they pulled it off so damn well. I genuinely don't understand why it's getting so much mixed reception, but again, who gives a fuck what people rate it as long as you like it? I can comfortably say this is my third-favorite Coldplay album. There's nothing I am disappointed with, and there's truly nothing I'd want more for this album. As always, with every album since Parachutes, it's going to sound even better live, and I await the day they come back to St. Louis because I will be there, ready to lose my mind over some goddamn Coldplay. 8.5/10 1. X&Y 2. A Rush of Blood to the Head 3. A Head Full of Dreams 4. Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends 5. Mylo Xyloto 6. Ghost Stories 7. Parachutes

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
Exactly! Ages ago, I remember making a prediction that AHFOD would be what Mylo should have and could have been. So far, I feel that's true. Aside from much more clean production, this album feels like a true successor to Viva. I don't give a shit if this album got only negative critical reviews. This album is fucking good.

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
I respectfully disagree. The last thing this band cares about anymore is if people like it or not. If they did, we would something like Mylo Xyloto again. As much as I love that album, its biggest problem fell in the fact they were trying to keep their classic Coldplay sound while merging it with louder, more anthemic music. It didn't work as well as most of us wanted to. With A Head Full of Dreams, I feel like this is the most creative and free they have been since Viva. It's easily in my top three albums. There isn't one song I want to skip or go past, and I can't say the same about Mylo or Ghost Stories.

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
Sorry, but any self-respecting artist/band would not make an album 'for their fans'.

At 2:55, all I hear is Chris saying, "Fajitas, fajitas, fajitas." Help.

This is the best-reviewed Coldplay album by Rolling Stone since A Rush of Blood to the Head. Hell yeah.

AHFOD Reviews by Music Critics
Holy crap. Can we get over this worshipping of a guitar? I love it just as much as anyone else, but more guitar does not equate to instant success. Regardless of the artist, it seems to be a pretty universal thing that Metacritic is not something you should take seriously. I totally understand you not liking the album, but there are plenty of us here and elsewhere who actually like it a lot.

Yes! I saw that as well. Next year is gonna be great.
