  1. Does it sound better than in NYC? I like it, but it's just so low quality. :(
  2. lmao what. I'm all for differing opinions but this is the most pretentious thing I have ever seen on this website in six years of posting.
  3. Whoops, you're right. I misread that sentence and thought it meant hard rock for some reason. However, I don't consider anything on Ghost Stories rock (except for Ghost Story) personally speaking. I like that MX and seemingly AHFOD are pop-rock, because it's a very overlooked genre that has a lot of great artistry.
  4. They have been 'mainstream' since Yellow, and I'm amazed this is so overlooked. You and I both know Chris loves Radiohead, Jeff Buckley, Travis, Oasis, etc. still, but what's the point to still be talking about them for nearly 20 years? Any famous artist or band will change their taste as time goes on, but they don't leave behind their initial inspirations.
  5. It's on the album, just seemingly hidden from the main tracklist. :)

Since Everything's Not Lost, there has never been a bad closer. Some I like more than others of course, but they are consistently some of the band's best work, and it always astounds me how they're able to do that. (And the same can be said for their openers too!) But since Viva, I've noticed their album closers seem to represent the theme of the album rather than the sound, you know? As much as I love Twisted Logic, Amsterdam and Everything's Not Lost, they close the chapter rather than work with it. Take Up With The Birds for example. Mylo Xyloto was the band's first real attempt at rock-pop, and for the most part, that's what the album is from beginning to end. But Up With The Birds doesn't end with pop, it ends with a salute to what was being said since HLH: life goes on. The song could have easily been a loud, DLIBYH-type closer, but it wasn't. Viva did the same, and so did Ghost Stories. I'm beyond ecstatic for Up&Up solely for the potential it has. We all know this album is going to be vibrant and full of life, but that doesn't mean every song will be. Coldplay loves life, and I would bet this is what the final song is going to be about.
  7. I'm trying to figure out myself. Coldplay always does very sentimental album closers, so I'm sure Up&Up will continue that trend, but I'm gonna guess this one is either a sort of quiet end much like Til Kingdom Come was, or ends up being something experimental and Indian that finishes the album.
  8. I had high expectations after they released that 10-second teaser a few days ago, and to say I was impressed is an understatement. Wow! Just -- wow. The last thing any of us expected was for Coldplay go in the way of groove/funk! The second the drums kicked in during the premiere, I was blown away and wanting to move along with it. If there's one thing Coldplay does great, it's maturing their sound to fields previously untouched by them. Because I swear, I have never once heard this band so full of life and together than with this AOAL. The production quality is fucking fresh, something we haven't had since the Viva days, and although some of the lyrics are a bit average, I can't believe so many people think this is just 'another pop song'. The song has only (almost!) been out for a day now, and I've already played it well over 30 times. Mark my words folks, this album is not only going to do well on the charts, but critically too. If this is the last album we get for a few years, what a great way to go out. I am beyond excited for December 4. (I forgot to add I asked my dad what he thought of this song. He's been a fan since Mylo Xyloto, but was pretty torn on Ghost Stories. He's played guitar for 30+ years, so I figured he'd enjoy this one a lot, if not just for the music. He texted me today saying he really liked it! It's nice having family enjoy the same music as you! 9/10 Yeah! I've only seen a handful of negative reviews outside Coldplaying. (In fact, I think the most negativity is from here!) I'm ecstatic about the response, and I'm sure the band si too.
  9. Same. I was surprised with the negativity on here.
  10. Instead of repeating myself, I will say this fits exactly what I'm thinking. Couldn't agree more.
  11. And that's what I get for being half-awake posting these. Thanks!

  17. I think you misunderstood my statement. I meant that this production quality is something missing since the end of the Viva days. I really, truly missed that from Coldplay over anything else and that surprised me over everything else. I love the old albums too, but they just continue to impress me. (And believe me, I'm not the type of fan who will love every new thing they put out.)
  18. I've said it probably ten times now, but this is the most full and alive I have ever heard this band before. Sure, there are a few, very minute parts I don't care for, but they are so tiny I don't give a fuck about them. The production quality is so clean and fresh, which is something we haven't seen since the Viva days. I fucking swear this band is something else. That first millisecond that burst into drums I signed my signature on the contract of love.
  19. Interestingly, the tracklist on the new website matches with iTunes, but not with the store's listing. http://coldplay.com/music/

  21. This song honestly just blew me the fuck away. I had no idea what to expect, but good fuckin' Lord. I have never heard such a full sound from the band before. Pre-ordered and in love.
  22. Woah, that's a great catch. Not just that, but the end of the True Love video! I fuckin' knew that had importance. :awesome:
  23. That's true. At least, post-AROBTTH, Chris' influences seemed to have changed a bit. Like with Kanye's "Homecoming" or Nelly Furtado's "All Good Things". I admit sometimes I do get a bit miffed at his personal taste, but it could definitely be worse, you know?
  24. Since there's no telling what the site will look like after the song in officially unveiled, I'm gonna go ahead and take a few screencaps of the current site for memory's sake! Seeing the evolution of their website is always fun to watch.
