  1. Okay I just gave in. EDIT: Wow, that turned out a lot better than what I was expecting with the snippet. It's not amazing on first listen, but I like the simplicity of it. Someone on /r/Coldplay said earlier this is genuine Coldplay and I totally agree. This album just keeps getting better and better for me.
  2. ur makin me want to give in I KNOW
  3. Must. Resist. Listening.

:dazzled: Though, I've always counted Til Kingdom Come as less of a closer and more of a bonus track.

It's really not that bad though. The best thing about Reddit (that's overlooked always) is that the smaller communities are always super friendly and not retarded like /r/funny or /r/pics or whatever. Good discussion, good people. I'm sorry for wording it that way. I'm all for differing opinions no matter if it's highly favorable or utter disgust. I meant that this website in particular has always had a very interesting perspective and take on the negative side of things. Of course there is no such thing as a 'real' fan of any music, just like there is no 'real' sound any one band can have. I suppose that every community has its ups and downs, and by no means am I trying to act superior or say /r/Coldplay is. I love both places.

I am a moderator on /r/Coldplay and this is just part of the reason I much prefer the subreddit to Coldplaying for actual feedback on a song. /r/Coldplay has a whole is a mixed bag in terms of what they like and dislike, but opinions are conveyed in a much more mature manner than here. To be quite honest, the most animosity I've heard towards anything on AHFOD is here. Obviously not everyone likes what they hear on Reddit, but I'll be damned if it's easier to read. The negativity on Coldplaying has been around since well before I joined in 2009, but the post-Viva days here brought the worst out of people.
  7. For those that listened to X Marks The Spot -- what's it like? I'm going to avoid listening to that snippet and Everglow (tomorrow) so I can have some stuff new.
  8. Yeah, I was a bit let down with this one. I hope it's just one part of the song because I really love the song itself.

I'm getting the impression this is going to be a lot like Kanye's 'Who Will Survive In America'. Which is awesome, because that's a damn good take on a classic Gil-Scott Heron piece. [video=youtube;n2Wsy8jHPk4]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n2Wsy8jHPk4

  11. Can I ask why, though? I get the impression many people are going to hate it for no other reason than that Beyonce has a role in it. I mean, yeah, it's aiming to be a big hit but musically it sounds very nice. There's no such thing as a 'real' Coldplay fan. I've been a fan since Viva and really like what I'm hearing from this so far. Just because it has pop influences doesn't make it bad.
  12. Couldn't agree more. I'm in awe with how everything is turning out. I had my fair share of worries earlier this year with production quality, lyrics, etc. but I've been pleasantly surprised. In a lot of ways, this feels similar to the rebirth they had with Viva -- just in a different light this time around.
  13. Woah I actually really like this now. My main complaint with Amazing Day before was that parts of it felt too empty, so I'm guessing it'll be fixed on the record. I dig it!
  14. Yep. I can't see HFTW being the next single until well after the album officially releases. Don't worry about it! :) I love listening to new albums/snippets with groups of people because it just goes to show how subjective music is. I love it.
  15. I respect your opinion of course, but Army of One could totally, 100% fit in a playlist of Radiohead-esque material. I can name plenty of artists who use multiple layers of sound and come out with a very clean, artistic sound like this song seems to have.
  16. How in the world is that pop? ... Fun and Army of One are my favorites so far. I'm actually amazed at how much more 'artsy' this album appears to be than what I expected. Love it!
  17. Everything's Not Lost, too. Personally, I like the ooh's and ahh's. Some artists can pull it off, others can't. Coldplay falls in the former.

Hmm, that's not it. I find it funny that you're putting every single Coldplay fan into one bubble. I love Coldplay, but I recognize their faults and don't pretend to think they're perfect. Yet, all the other artists I listen to are widely regarded to be some of the best ever, so to say 'originality and artistic integrity aren't majorly significant nowadays' is a bit much, don't you think? People have varying musical taste. Anyways, Adele is interesting. She has a great voice...but, for me personally, that's about it. I respect her talent, I respect what she does and I respect the attention she receives, but I feel like she can hide from any other musical talent with the help of her voice. Part of what irks me about her is the fact nearly everything she puts out is the same fucking thing. 'Hello' is a drag, and believe me, I generally love that sort of music -- but it's just boring. She could be doing so much more, but she just doesn't. One day, I'm sure, she'll change things up and people will erupt with anger and confusion, but if it means bringing something new to the table finally, I'm for it.
  19. Agreed. Ghost Stories made exceptions for a lot of things, and I believe one of those things was the First Listen.
  20. ohboyohboyohboyohboy It's the most wonderful time of the year.
  21. :| True Love is a good song.
  22. getithom replied to getithom's topic in Up&Up
I mean, the song just came out, so it's totally normal to not remember how it goes whether or not you (not you) liked it.
  23. It's just, like, why waste all that money for a few songs? The girl was even sleeping on his shoulder and at one point he had to wake her up. :| As far as tonight goes -- wow. I am so beyond hyped for this album now I should probably cool down a bit. This has potential to be a classic Coldplay album.
  24. Really digging this song. As much as I love Up&Up, I think I'm preferring this one a bit more. Aside from the U2 similarities, something about it screams X&Y.
