I think too many people grasp on the Parachutes and A Rush of Blood to the Head era more than they do the band itself. Instead of holding onto the fact they are a talented band who produce good music, they latch themselves onto one specific era and won't accept any other style of music Coldplay releases. Personally, I will never understand the hatred towards X&Y. That album is a masterpiece primarily because of how heartfelt it is. Parachutes and AROBTTH is as well, but there is a point where we need to move on. It's like comparing Bob Dylains The Times They Are a-Changin' to Time Out of Mind. You just cannot. I end with this: good bands and artists change, bad bands and artists never change. Coldplay is a good band, right? Of course they are. Just my two cents.
