[8-Aug-2012] Coldplay @ United Center, Chicago, IL, USA
I was at the concert last night, it was great. The people in front of us were really mean and asked us to stop screaming but whatever. I was in section 105 row D so basically the other side of the stadium from the stage. The upgrader came up to us and asked us a few questions, and when he looked at our tickets he said Have a Good Time and walked away :( I was pissed. But when I was sitting in my seat before the show holding my "I <3 you Guy Berryman" poster a man came up to me and had a coldplay pass on him and asked to take a picture of me with my poster. After he took it, I asked if he was a roadie, and then he pointed at my poster and said 'That's my brother" and walked away! I freaked out but he left before I could get a picture with him :( But it was still cool. The concert was great. I loved hearing DLIBYH and Amsterdam live. It sucked not having front row compared to Lolla last year but oh well :( Great experience for my third Coldplay concert.

Up In flames reminds me of Prospekts March.
Never thought I'd admit the same thing.

Does anyone who disliked this song from the beginning feel it has grown on them since first listen?
^This. I didn't hate the song when I first listened it, but I was displeased. It doesn't have the same emotional impact Coldplay songs have on me, even ETIAW did. It sounded way to tech-y too (sorry for the poor description). But tonight, I blasted it in my car driving home from rehearsal and it sounded great. I love the bass, and the chorus is pretty catchy. I'm still singing "It could be paradise" in my head. However, I don't think it has the same emotional spark that most Coldplay songs are like, and another thing I noticed, I don't think it suits Chris Martin's voice very well. I love his voice and all but I think he's capable of a more dynamic range, and there should be some sort of cool music riff playing in the background when he sings the verses. Overall, not Coldplay at it's best. But it's very catchy and will most likely to be pleasing to a radio audience. However, I think Charlie Brown will overthrow that. ;)

Lyrics (page 2 onwards)
Here's my version of the lyrics: I stole the key Took a car downtown where the lost boys meet I took a car downtown and took what they offered me To set me free I saw the lights go down at the end of the scene I saw the lights go down and standing in front of me In my scarecrow dreams When they smash my heart into smithereens I'll be a bright red rose come bursting/busting the concrete Be a cartoon heart Light a fire, light a spark, light a fire, frame it in my heart We'll run wild, we'll be glow-in-the-dark All of the boys, all of the girls All of the mess in the world All of the boys, all of the girls All of the mess that occurs All of the highs, all of the lows As the room was spinning we'll glow We run wild, start glowing in the dark So we saw... And I hear either "Gone missing for a while" or "So innocent and wild" We'll be glowing in the dark. But that doesn't make sense.

Favorite album opener/closer?
Opener: I don't know if this counts, but MX/HLH. It's just... so great. If we are talking albums already released, then LiT. Closer: Amsterdam.

Any Advice?
I'm entering my junior year too. We should be buddies  Haha, I'm very stressed too, and I have no idea where I want to attend college. I live in the Midwest too (Chicago) but I really want to get out of here. Haha. I would love to go to California for college. Advice that I have heard from others: Put your grades and ACT prep first right now. Because if you do great on that, you will have that out of the way and be able to focus on picking the right college for you :nice: I'm doing my best to make this year count.
