  1. ^^^If I'm honest, I tend to agree with that. I haven't listened to a lot of Eno's work, but I've always found it to be more experimental than mainstream. And I think what we've seen is Coldplay experimenting with the mainstream. If Brian was responsible for this, I would've expected more odd tempos and melodies (like his Fabrica art installment). Not pop.
  2. Ah yes. I remember this idea circulating around actually and I was so excited about it. Seems so far away from what we've been given
  3. Basically this. I'm very pro-X&Y. I loved that album and I may go as far to say that it is my favourite Coldplay album. I disagreed with all the 'bashing' that went with it because I thought that even though it wasn't the most cohesive album... It had some real beautiful tracks on there (Talk, White Shadows, Fix You). I had hoped that VLV would follow that formula; obviously it didn't. But I accepted that sound and even if it did feel a little more clinical than previous albums, I enjoyed it. I could enjoy MX if it was an VLV rehash. I just think the direction they've taken now is far too extreme and yeah. Basically you put it in a way my brain fails to formulate being as disappointed as I am now. Thank you for the extremely coherent and well written piece. I agree with you 100%. It disappoints me a lot too, because I loved the older Coldplay. I feel like they're trying to recapture the youth of experimentation as a band they never got to have because they immediately became massive First off... This is not Chris Martins' webpage. This is Ians'. Secondly, how rude and disrespectful that you can talk to anyone like that... Let alone a member of staff on this board. People are allowed to express their own opinions on this board, and if you don't like their opinions you have every right to express that you don't. But you do not have the right to be rude to anyone.
  4. I am. Perhaps in a little too much of a melodramatic way because I do have other bands and I would know what to do without them but you get my drift
  5. I'm ready to put my head in the oven. Just what? Seriously. What is this world I have woken up to this morning? Since when do Coldplay duet on an album track? Since when do they regard Rihanna to be a good artist? Since when did PoC need tampering with? Since when has Coldplay sold out?! Jeez. At least I can say I saw them when they were still good.
  6. I'd rather eat testicles than listen to ETIAW. So Paradise by a mile and male genitals
  7. The irony in that is that they are both as unoriginal just ading 'ers' to the end. It's just that Musers works better because yeah, as you said, it rolls off the tongue. I don't mind Coldplayers... But I think The Scientists would've been cooler, although these days most fans might be like 'that song sucksss cuz it's not poppy like ETIAW'. (Ohhh can we tell that I'm smarting, I'm blatantly smarting) Word to this. Coldplayers are like lions in comparison to Musers who are just kitties. Musers are more likely to indignantly puff up and have a short spat before being like 'w/e' whilst the Coldplayers will rip your eyes out and insult your upbringing before they call it quits. I have no doubt that this is the reason. Coldplayers have never been supported and have been the butt of all jokes. So yeah, I can understand getting a little prickly. But I do not support the way they get so angry and offensive. They need to find better ways to cope. I used to be like that, don't get me wrong, but that was when I was thirteen. I have since learnt to deal with it in a decent manner and I think a reality check is needed on this board as a whole.
  8. I believe because I was more likely to eat my own ears than listen to ETIAW after the first few attempts of trying to find some redeeming features (which reads: there aren't any, don't put yourself through it) I found Paradise to be actually quite an improvement. So I was very generous on the thread and gave it a 7. Thinking about it now, it should be a five at best. You see, what I think was that if this came from another band... I would actually like it and I wouldn't feel like my insides were turned to lava when I heard it. But because this is Coldplay who bought us treasures of music before-- I feel like we're somehow being cheated. Like we know that they can do better and yet they seem to just be settling. I think that they're fed up of the stigma that has surrounded them and so are going out of their way to make 'perkier' music. But it's just coming across as bland, run of the mill pop. It's like previously they made music that yes, to some, was bland... But to us it was adventurous and showed thought and effort. Now they're just like every other band the market produces. And I'm such a twee-indie-vidual that this annoys me to no end. The idea of Rihanna on their album makes me want to put my head in a gas oven. All this being said, I'm going to say it right now: I will still buy MX and I will still listen to it over and over. I'm sure in a few listens I will force myself to like it in some way just because Coldplay have always been my band and I don't know what I would do without them. But something in my gut is telling me this is a dark road Coldplay are going down and they'll never be the same as Parachutes/AROBTTH/X&Y era themselves ever again.
  9. I've ordered my copy. I've just spoke to my parents and said could I have it as a Christmas present, so that's what I have. In all seriousness though, there is a lot of things included with that and I have no doubt that it will become a collectors item one day. Even if I haven't liked a lot in the Mylo Xyloto era thus far, I still want something exclusive. And I'm still a Coldplayer at heart
  10. I'mma punch Chris for including a line about 'Every Teardrop is a Waterfall'. And repeating the 'para' as he did with 'wa-wa-waterfall'. Does he have a hidden stammer or something? It's actually gimicky and annoying. If it wasn't for these two bugbears it would be a lot higher. For now I'm going to give it a 7 because I actually like it and it's not an offence to my ears unlike ETIAW. ETA: I'm probably rating it higher than I would normally as it is so much of an improvement over ETIAW that I feel happier than I would if this was the first track I'd heard off Mylo Xyloto
  11. ^ Actually, I don't agree that there is any difference in general intelligence. It's just that Coldplayers express themselves so that they seem dimmer as they go on 'flame-defensive' and do come across n00bzish.
  12. Seriously? Even after what the band themselves say? What? Does fandom just bury their heads in the sand?
  13. ^So that would be a vote for laugh. Bless him. I can't take him seriously, he also called PiB 'Plug in Babe' which could be epic!spell-a-fail or a literal palm-a-face moment
  14. I'm very undecided at the moment. I may have to listen to the song and see how much I like it before I definitely say either way. Plus both '+' (Ed Sheeran) and 'Junk of the Heart' (The Kooks) are out tomorrow and I will definitely be buying them, so adding more money on top of that may be too much to handle.
  15. We don't live in Old England. We live in Original England (imo that sounds so much better) :awesome: So there's this guy on Twitter who has seen Muse like 5 times. He said he was a massive fan and he had to see them at Reading because it will be the last time they tour for ages because now Matt's a Dad they won't record or perform anywhere until the child is at least five. I don't know whether to laugh or cry that he calls himself a massive fan when he had no idea there are plans for LP6 in the foreseeable future.
  16. Last album I bought was 'Portamento' by The Drums. Last album I downloaded was 'Never Trust a Happy Song' by Grouplove. Last album I acquired was 'Vehicles and Animals' by Athlete
  17. Okay, you know what... I absolutely love the sound of this. Love it. Admittedly the whole para-para-paradise thing may annoy me, but it's such a Chris thing to do.
  18. The flow of the album already looks to be horrific. I'm hoping that someone changes the listing so that ETIAW doesn't transition into MM because that sounds like torture... Unless they've done some really clever instrumental, then I may be able to cope. Otherwise I think that the album could be really good, or really terrible. Some of the track names just sound dreadful. But you know, LiJ, LiTii and things sounded terrible to me last time and look how wrong I was there? So I will reserve judgement. I'm just hoping it sticks more to Charlie Brown vibe that ETIAW vibe.
  19. I'm not worried about the length. And I also object to X&Y being the weakest album to date. I love X&Y... It's one of my favourites, if not my actual favourite. Unlike what some people are saying, I find that VLV actually is a little short and I was actually really disappointed with the running time. The tracks do make up for it, but I hate when albums are short. I think that as long as the music is good and isn't long for the sake of it, I'd love a 60-ish minute album
  20. ^^ :laugh3: Careful though, you might start making people think that you're not a legit Muse fan. :laugh3:
  21. I love the word 'Dombie' :dazzled:
  22. ^^ Awwww yeahhh. It's such a nice thing to see. :awesome: They covered Foster the Peoples' 'Pumped Up Kicks' in the Radio 1 Live Lounge yesterday. It was lovely.
