Coldplayers meet-up in London, Summer 2010 - UPDATED 4/7/2010!!
bellynelly, dont' worry, I am only a couple of years younger than you so we are pretty close in age. And in a way, anyone who likes Coldplay is on the same page. And as far as 'very rarely coming out of your box', don't worry, I used to be the same way. The more you get out of it, the easier it is. Plus, think about it like this... in retrospect, would you regret coming to the meet-up, or not coming to the meet-up? If you think you would more regret not coming to the meet-up, and later wishing that you had, I think that is your answer. I've realized over time it is better to not have any regrets in life...

Music Video First Thoughts
This is an awesome thread! I think this weekend I am going to watch all of their music videos in the 'Recordings' section on coldplay.com, so I can post more 'first thought' comments...

Music Video First Thoughts
Life in Technicolor: The Jonny puppet smashing his guitar into the amps... that is soooo NOT Coldplay behavior. Viva La Vida: Chris' eyes look freaky-evil.

The Reading Room
Thank you so much for doing this! I love the one picture from NME 2005. "We're Coldplay, from America", with the trucker hats, mullet-style wigs, and cigars. Too funny. Of course, there aren't very many places in the U.S. where their impression would be spot on... but I forgive them. ;)

Am I the only one who thinks The Hardest Part (X&Y) is total crap, BUT...
That girl is just screaming "The Hardest Part", with LOTS of emphasis on 'hard'. Simply singing the lyrics. Nothing 'hot' about it. You know, it just hit me. Sure, it's annoying, but whoever compiled the tracks on LRLRL from the various concerts picked it. They had almost 100 previous concerts to choose from, but that one ended up on LRLRL. Couldn't they have picked a different one, or tried to edit it out somehow? So, I suppose we can't put all the blame on the annoying chick herself...

"Now here comes Lucas !"
Oh Lucas, your english is just fine! It will probably be better than some of the people here who have it is their first language... :P And welcome welcome welcome!

Do you think YES should have its own music video ?
I have no idea why, but it is my fave from VLV. I can't explain it. But, followed very closely by Violet Hill. Anywho, even though I love the song, I don't think there should be a video. Again, I don't know why I think that, I just do. I was pretty bummed that they didn't perform it live, but there is probably a good reason. I'm guessing the reason is one of the following: 1. There is a distinct string (violin, viola, whatever) that has its own important part. True, VLV has strings also, but it has multiple string instruments that we all know they couldn't pull off live, so we accept that it's just in the sound mix (and they are just doing it on that little ol' TV set). But it would be strange to have the string in "Yes" just mixed, that needs to be done explicitly live, and unless they bring what's-his-name in there to do it, it just won't work. OR 2. The song is a confession from one of them, so they would feel awkward performing it live, in an effort not to royally pi** off their current (or former, in Guy's case) significant other. The album was released in summer 2008; which means at the latest, they finished writing all the songs in early 2008, but they probably started writing in 2006 (or possibly earlier since they are always at work). So, "Yes" could be a confession about something that happened at any point during that time frame. "sin stay gone..." DO THE MATH Just my opinion.

'Balloon Boy' parents to dodge jail - and deportation - in deal with prosecutors to plead guilty to
Yes, I think they should at least have to pay for any expenses related to the hoax. Police time, non-police rescue efforts, the black hawk helicopters that were commissioned, any cost associated with commercial flights being delayed due to diverting the flights to other runways/airports...

Your favourite part in LRLRL that is different from album version
^ It's from Prospekt's March. The original version on PM has a more "mellow" piano. It is pretty, but almost puts me to sleep. I think the live version is so much better. It is pretty, but instead of putting me to sleep it puts a smile on face and gives me goosebumps. I just 'mastered' it a few days ago on my piano, so now I can really listen to it whenever I want at home. :pleased: If you want to hear the original version, you can go to coldplay.com, go to the 'Recordings' section, scroll down to Prospekt's March. If I remember correctly, it's Track 2.

I agree. The version on LRLRL is so much better. But, as a few of you mentioned already, it made me appreciate the original on X&Y a little more.

Definitely The Hardest Part / Postcards From Far Away mix. I listen to that over and over and over again... and yes, I agree, that screaming chick does ruin it a bit.

Christmas Lights?
I'm not sure when/where it originated, but I remember seeing him play a bit of it when he did an interview on 60 Minutes early this year.

Christmas Lights?
It would be wonderful if they release it; the little bit that I heard was lovely. Oh, and if they could release the sheet music to it also, that would be swell. That way I could learn it by mid-December and play it incessantly in an effort to annoy my husband and cat (sometimes I wonder what possessed me to marry someone that doesn't like Coldplay...)
