What, are you a lawn-hater? :lol: No matter where the seats are, DTE is a better venue than The Palace. I just don't like the sound/acoustics of indoor concerts at arenas. Concerts at theaters sound good, but not in arenas. The sad thing is, a couple of years ago I got front seats at DTE to ELO / Alan Parsons Project for less than $30. :| But anyway, to answer the question... I can't say yet whether I like/dislike the album as a whole yet because it's not out. For the songs so far, I like some and dislike others. Regardless, yeah I'll definitely go to a concert when they tour. I would poo my pants if they played Amsterdam, I'm still holding out hope for that.

I haven't listened to it yet, won't be until much later today after I'm home and can properly put on some headphones. I was debating whether to read people's opinions first, but it's too late now. I'm still excited for the first listen though. See, that's what I didn't like about Proof (particularly the end). High is fine, but when it's nails-on-chalk-board-cringe-worthy I tend to wince. Is the singing anything close to that?

There is a separate top 100 thread (which is also 2 threads merged into 1) is a little further down the list if you want to comment on it there. :nice: See this is what happens when people create too many threads and ignore the mods' sticky thread about duplicate threads... now that the forum is slowing down a little bit we have the chance to merge stuff and people don't like it. :whip:

FYI in case the "responses" in this thread don't make sense it's because threads are being merged so everything is weaved chronologically.

Oh trust me, lots of threads from all perspectives will be merged as soon as feasible. We've been itching to merge all these threads. We haven't really been able to when the forum is as busy as it has been, because it makes things run even slower (we've already experienced multiple DP times as it is) so we have to give up one thing for the other. So, it's not one side versus the other... I posted sticky threads in the forums well before Paradise was released telling people it's pointless to make duplicate threads but obviously lots of people just didn't pay attention. So nobody should be upset if their thread eventually gets merged.

Sounds like fun but I'm afraid I'll be out of vacation time by then. Late October? Hopefully it won't be too cold! That would be funny if there was a freak snow shower. :lol:

Performance starts at 7am? I somehow doubt that. The show might start at that time, but I doubt the performance will. Anybody who was at the Viva one... what's your thoughts on the time?

And if it did happen long before then, digitalstores would be aware of it and likely automatically send it via another method (probably the cheapest UPS method).

Hmmm. If they didn't directly ask me, "so what do you think about the new stuff", I probably wouldn't say anything. If they did ask me point blank, I imagine the conversation would go something like this: Them: So what do you think about the new stuff? Me: Some of it I like, some of it I don't really care for. Them: Oh really? What is it that you don't like? Me: *cringes as if to express that I'm no trying to hurt their feelings* Honestly I was a bit disappointed when I heard ETIAW. I know with the festivals there needed to be something catchy and easy to sing and jump up and down to, but I don't think it was very first-new-era-single-after-a-long-time-in-the-studio-worthy. Even though overall I don't like it, I appreciate Jonny's presence in the song. And I do like the last, oh, minute of the song. Them: We planned to use it as the closer for the festivals, so we did want people to hear it far enough in advance. Me: Yeah, I get that. But, I do like some of the other songs. MM is cool, and Charlie Brown seems like the MX era's equivalent of Yellow/Clocks/Fix You/Viva. Personally I think one of those should have been the next single instead of Paradise. And I absolutely adore MTM. It's brilliant. To me it almost starts out with a Billie Holiday vibe, then early-80s soft rock, then a Pink Floyd feel at the end. If you hear someone say that you would think there's no way that could work, but you guys made it flow so well, it's awesome. Them: Glad you like MTM! So, you don't think Paradise should have been the next single? Me: *winces again* No. It's just... too pop-y or something. You guys are a man band, not a boy band. That's what it sounded like to me. I'm sure your other stuff won't sound like that though. *winks and awaits confirmation via facial expression* Yeah. Something like that.

If you guys haven't listened to the Paradise parody "answer" song in the Paradise forum, you need to check it out. I think it might get uploaded to YouTube sometime soon.

If nobody can figure out how to make the gif work on YouTube, maybe just use the sig pic instead? That's just about as good... :lol: Hartroc... amazing lyrics. Pai... gorgeous voice.

I'll get the CD, and when I play it in my car I'll skip the songs as appropriate. When I upload it to my iTunes, I'll delete the songs as appropriate so I don't have to bother with skipping them.
