I still don't understand the hate for Princess of China. Is it just that Rihanna gets the spotlight? Because really, that shouldn't affect the quality of the song itself. I mean, it's got a catchy melody, infectious hook, and an unique structure. And the lyrics aren't bad (for Coldplay, anyway). :laugh3:

Um...this isn't going to be changed because it's correct as it is. Also, Brian Eno is a freaking genius. He produced Remain in Light, one of the awesomest albums of all time. OF ALL TIME. And to say that every U2 song sounds the same is just plain ignorant. Listen to New Year's Day, Trip Through Your Wires, Lemon, Mofo, Where the Streets Have No Name, and Vertigo, then honestly tell me they sound anything alike.

That's my problem. I think Lungs had higher highs (Rabbit Heart, Cosmic Love) and was better as an album. There are some songs that stand out on Ceremonials after a few listens, but they all have pretty much the same anthemic sound - which I wouldn't have a problem with if there were a few different tracks to balance it out. Lungs was a little awkward in its diversity, but it's an extremely lovable sort of awkward.

Well...my main problem with the album IS the lyrical depth (or lack of). A Rush of Blood, Viva, and even Parachutes were far better than most of the songs on here. I DO appreciate the change in style (I'm sort of a dance/techno lover :lol:), but, as it has been pointed out, it could have been pulled off better. Still love Charlie Brown and Hurts Like Heaven. :)

Am I the only one who thinks this album feels somewhat...monotonous? Nearly every song tries to reach the arena-pop heights of Cosmic Love, but I'm not sure anything quite gets there, except possibly Shake it Out and Spectrum.

It's not like Guy was running the show on the other albums either. His basslines have always been mixed extremely low.

It really irritates me when people say that a song's quality is affected by how much radio play it gets. Viva is the exact same song as when it came out, and if it was better than Charlie Brown then, before the radio exposure, then it now as well.
