Florence + The Machine
Not as good as Lungs, which was lusher and mroe diverse, but not bad either. Certainly not favorite record of the year, though.

MYLO XYLOTO: My Review
Gotta disagree with you there. I would argue that it's just as substantial (i.e. deep, meaningful) as some of Viva, most of Parachutes, and all of X&Y, which is to say, not very. A Rush of Blood to the Head is an exception, but we never really expected them to top that anyway. :laugh3: Coldplay have never been a band I would describe as insightful, substantial. I love their music, but besides Rush, I actually consider them relatively trite.

Do You Think Coldplay Is Done?
They just signed a new contract.

Princess of China: Worst Coldplay song ever?
If you're seriously asking me to name bad Coldplay lyrics, we will be here all day. And there's nothing wrong with "oh's." The chorus for Arcade Fire's Wake Up is one of the most catchy things ever, and there's no lyrics at all.

Worst Mylo Xyloto song?
U.F.O. is by far the most boring song on the album. Sounds like a Viva b-side. Surely, whoever voted for Charlie Brown was trying to be funny?

Last Album that you bought/acquired?
The last one I actually bought was Mylo Xyloto. The last one I acquired was Florence + The Machine, Ceremonials.

The Muse Thread - Hate This & I'll Hate You
Unlikely considering their current downard spiral. :blank:

The Muse Thread - Hate This & I'll Hate You
Origin of Symmetry - Pretty great. Absolution - Pretty ok. Everything else - Awful. ...Yup. That about sums it up.

Adele
I think 21 is full of filler, to be honest. She does have a few fantastic singles though, Someone Like You is definitely one of the best tracks of the year.

New Coldplay eh?
Oh please. Look people, a normal music video would have just made more people hate Paradise. I was worried that they would take themselves too seriously with this song, try and make a video that was deep and meaningful, something that the song itself is obviously not (though I do like it). I think they managed to convey the message they wanted (breakaway from the prison of everyday life! Find your paradise!) in a fun, creative way.

Princess Of China, next single!
Is it possible that it might eventually?

PoC vs Paradise vs E.T.I.A.W vs Charlie Brown
Charlie Brown. Absolutely no competition. None.

Paradise *OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO!* (Youtube Video In First Post, plus 1-10 elephant poll))
But as I pointed out in a different thread...I think that would be worse. People would hate this song even more if Coldplay took it too seriously. They needed a video saturated with fun and silliness, because a serious one would draw attention to how shallow the song really is. I like the song as a standalone (though I would never describe it as deep or thought-provoking), but I think Coldplay made a wise choice in scrapping the original video.

Paradise *OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO!* (Youtube Video In First Post, plus 1-10 elephant poll))
The fact that they're elephants is irrelevant. The theme is escaping the prison of everyday life, persevering until you finally reach paradise/happiness.

[DLIBYH] Lyrics
I'm positive it's "burning." Not sure about the next word though, sounds like "tide" to me but that doesn't make sense.

Princess Of China, next single!
Hey, how come we never got a b-side for Paradise?

A Hopeful Transmission
I actually really, really dislike this song. It's just so jarring after Up in Flames, and the salsa beat is just weird in the context of the album. I don't think it's a good transition into DLIBYH at all.

[DLIBYH] Lyrics
Makes more sense than from a shipwreck. The ship is a metaphor for his life.

What do you think of the HLH studio version?
It's almost perfect. The first guitar solo has too much reverb/delay, should be cleaner, like the live version. I also wish the robotic backing vocals were more audible in some places...like the chorus.

Paradise video hate thread
:laugh3: Frankly, I think needed Paradise needed a silly, funny video. You can't take a song like this seriously...I mean, I like it, but even I admit that it's not exactly deep and meaningful.

[Review] musicology.com 2.5/5
The fact that this reviewer thinks Up in Flames is one of the best songs (if not the best song) on the album invalidates his opinion as far as I'm concerned.

First or Second Half?
Which do you prefer? I definitely like the second half better. The melody is catchier, the guitar groove is infectious, and Chris's voice at the end...perfect. Beautiful little piano outro as well. On the other hand, the first half drags on a tad long, and I think those spacey, harmonic ascending synths are kind of cheesy. Not bad, but it sounds like b-side material. I was underwhelmed until the the guitars came back in. It's no Amsterdam, but it's pretty great nonetheless. Thoughts?
