  1. ^ Jamesfish has had about 500 "feelings" and "sneaking suspicions" about the album since August. I wouldn't be too worried (no offense meant, Jamesfish, I just find it kind of entertaining :) )
  2. From what I could decipher, the lyrics are: "So fly on, silver bird Fly home to me I know that I could give the world Only you can set me free So fly on and sail the rose? Oh fly home to me I wanna see ? And the water rose And pulled you back to me" Really beautiful. I agree that even if it's sped up, this is going to be an amazing song :wacky:
  3. ^ I believe Ryan Seacrest said it was "uptempo," so I imagine the album version might be quite different from what was played last night (if it was Birds at all)
  4. I haven't watched the set yet, but what a beautiful thing for Coldplay to do in the wake of such tragedy. Imagine, Sparks, UAtW are all perfect in the light of everything that has happened. Reminds me of Simon & Garfunkel's "Bridge Over Troubled Water." I would love if the guys took inspiration from that song: "Sail on, silver girl Sail on by Your time has come To shine All your dreams are on their way"
  5. Especially since the Stade de France is a venue they have played at multiple times. I know we would all love to hear Coldplay's set, but out of respect for everything that has happened in Paris over the past few hours, I think their choice to cancel it is the correct one.
  6. . . . I'm also just realizing that I made a joking comment earlier that Coldplay should just do a set with nothing but old songs :(
  7. Coldplay are such a class act. Great way to show that we can't let terror overtake our daily lives but also that this is a time for respect and solemness rather than bombastic happiness. I support their decision 100%
  8. Yeah, I was just going to let that be interpreted as either serious or sarcastic for whoever read it
  9. Of course my first post back after however many months would be a double post  Just like old times when we would add 100 pages a day
  10. Oh man I miss this thread :bigcry: Buried somewhere in these 4,000 pages is a record of my 15-year-old self :uhoh:
  11. *has war flashbacks* The Lounge from a few years ago was like the Wild West of the forums. It was so great
  12. I'm not watching the stream, but to all of our French Coldplayers, my thoughts and prayers are with you. The whole world is standing with you tonight. You are all so strong. Stay safe. <3
  13. Better yet, do a throwback concert with only songs from the Parachutes-Viva eras :charming:
  14. Actually just from what I saw it looked like there was an arrow pointing from the "1:31 significance" to AoaL, so it makes me think it was simply referring to the minute-and-a-half mark in AoaL that is for some reason important. Possibly not relating to Kaleidoscope at all :awesome: EDIT: Just checked the song, it sounds like the lyrics "alive again" occur right around that time, maybe referring to that?
  15. ^ It's not that we don't enjoy at least some of post-Viva Coldplay's work, it's just that before MX it wasn't just an occasional song here or there that we liked, it was whole albums. Of course Coldplay has always had its flaws, but it's kind of frustrating for us "Oldplayers" that Coldplay seemed to grab onto those flaws and just make them so much bigger and more obvious with the MX era onward. Yeah, there were one or two lyrically weak songs in Coldplay's old discography (In My Place, A Message, A Whisper) but nowadays it seems like there are only one or two lyrically strong songs on each of their albums. The same thing has been happening with the emotion, the instruments, anything you can think to name. I have absolutely nothing against Coldplay changing their sound (although I admit that I will always, always prefer rock over pop or alternative or whatever it is they're doing), but I do have something against them changing the things that made me fall in love with them in the first place. Chris's beautifully emotional lyrics, Jonny's riffs, the way Guy and Will could masterfully put together the final rhythmic touches that made a song go from 0-10. Now, some of those things don't seem to be completely gone, but others (like Chris's lyrics) are quickly dying out. Tl;dr - There's a reason it's one-sided, at least in my mind :P Okay two things: 1. WHY have I never heard this before 2. At around the ~5ish minute mark, you can hear Chris repeating the backing vocals "sex and violence." I'm willing to bet that's the inspiration for the unreleased MX track and now I'm really annoyed that we never got to hear it.
  16. Reasons I'm an Oldplayer - Ep No. 11 [insert entire How We Saw the World concert here]
  17. ^ I think they've just been running it as a sponsored ad, so I'm not sure there's an actual post or anything that we can find
  18. ^ Coldplay needs to get rid of their darn interludes and just tack them on to one of the songs already :P I get so excited to see *~*~12~*~* tracks on an album, but that all goes poof when it turns out several of them are just short little things. Add in Amazing Grace (wtf?) and The Guest House and I start to wonder exactly how many minutes of "real songs" we're actually going to get. As much as I rail on Ghost Stories, that was one thing I liked about it--no short little instrumentals that do nothing but pad out the tracklisting!
  19. ^ Hmm, could be. I think "narration" makes more sense in the context of the sentence though  Good catch, I agree
  20. 1:31 significance? Has an arrow pointing to the AoaL lyrics. Probably means that the 1:31 mark in the song is important in some way Kaleidoscope – musical drama? [something] at the top narration? Army of One – uptempo Birds – uptempo, something about freedom Up&Up – “don’t ever give up” One of the questions on the right-hand side is “what was going on in your life while you were making this music?” Right below that: “[something] want to go uptempo – to put you into that moord or [something] you in it Colour Spectrum is only 1:00 long :( OR it’s referring to the same thing the 1:31 is and that just means the one-minute mark in that song is important
  21. Wait wait wait Was Chris not joking when he said this? I am 112% sure he was joking. SOMEONE TELL ME WHAT IS GOING ON WHY IS THIS ERA SO WEIRD
  22. What even is this era omfg I don't understand anything about it and the album isn't even out yet what the heck
  23. ColdplayingfromKansas replied to getithom's topic in Up&Up
^I think it was the Toronto 2006 version of What If also I listen to that performance a lot :awesome:
  24. Apparently I've caused a lot of confusion  1. The Tidal event is, in fact, Friday (which is actually tomorrow now) 2. I am from Kansas 3. It was still Wednesday in Kansas when I made that post, I was just tired after a long day and my mind was already thinking it was Thursday :P My bad everyone
  25. ^ I guess it's a good thing I keep forgetting that's happening tomorrow, since I'm trying to avoid listening to any more new material :P Just a little over three weeks to go :bomb:
