I wish it was slowed down slightly
The album version likely is I think, a lot of Coldplay's faster songs get sped up in concert. Violet Hill is a good example. It'd be about 2:40 seconds at Glastonbury if they didn't extend it at the end. I think they were just really pumped for Glastonbury and HLH being right out of the gate probably had the adrelline flowing most of all.

MX Length
I think it is what we have heard.

The Title Makes Me Think Of...
People were saying the same thing about Hurts Like Heaven. Stop judging a song by the title and wait til you hear the music.

Why I am not giving up on Coldplay, yet.
Bingo. Like the strings, love the guitar part toward the end and the lyrics are mostly solid ('The wheel that breaks the butterfly' is just a dumb line though). Overall, it's OK, just not what people expect from what is usually the slot that holds their primary single. MX gave me Charlie Brown, i'm all good with the MX era.

Up In Flames, DLIBYH on Friday? (--> no)
Absolutely. Looking forward to DLIBYH if it is as "violently life affirming" as advertised. I also wonder if Up in Flames sounds similar to Moving to Mars, possibly an extra reason to keep it off the album.

Can you hate ETIAW and Paradise but still like the album?
Unless i'm making it a point to listen to the whole album all the way through the only song I will skip (so far) is Major Minus. Probably won't skip over Paradise, thuogh it's just an average CP song for me. I like ETIAW, really like UATW and love Charlie Brown and Hurts Like Heaven.

THINGS EVOLVE!!!
I think we're just seeing over reaction because it is not what was expected. I don't love Paradise, but I don't hate it either. It's just an OK, 3 out of 5 song. I won't skip it when I listen to the album but I won't repeat it either. I'm a little confused how they or EMI would think that this would make a better single than Charlie Brown. Heck, even if they wanted to go for a mainstream single i'm surprised they didn't go with Princess of China.

What Would You Have Named LP5?
Given that Coldplay has named all of their albums after a song on the album, what would you have named the album It from the 14 available options? Kept is Mylo Xyloto or gone in a different direction? Personally, granted this opinion is without hear the entire album , I would have named it either A Hopeful Transmission or Up with the Birds, probably the latter.

Female vocal? ** UPDATED - It's Rihanna **
Didn't vote because there wasn't a 'I'll wait until I hear it' option.

What if Coldplay Would Make An Album Under An Idependent Label?
Parachutes - 2000 A Rush of Blood to the Head - 2002 X&Y - 2005 Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friend - 2008 Mylo Xyloto - 2011 I'd say we're looking at 3 years minimum on that track record. If anything I could see them taking a year off and LP6 being out in 2015.

Whats with the MX Haters?
From all the new era stuff we have heard I'd rank them as: Charlie Brown Hurts Like Heaven Every Teardrop is a Waterfall Princess of China (live version w/o Rihanna, can't judge actual yet) Us Against the World Paradise Moving to Mars Major Minus I do think that Paradise will come off better live than the album, version though. I like Paradise but it doesn't stand out to me, In my preference I'd have it on a level with Christmas Lights, 42, The Hardest Part, A Rush of Blood to the Head, Shiver in terms of album version likability. Songs like Shiver, God Put a Smile on Your Face, Talk and Lost work much better for me in the live version vs the album. I have a feeling Paradise will be the same.

Female vocal? ** UPDATED - It's Rihanna **
Good work there insulting both the mentally handicapped and jamacans because you don't even like the idea of Coldplay making music they want to make. :dozey:

The Coldplay Redemption Thread
It couldn't even last one post. ZFOMKFNFJHDFKOOM<GOMGOMGOMG, THE ALBUM DIDNT START WITH DONT PANIC 2 AND CLOCKS 2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do you care about the track order?
Order is obviously vital. That's why 99% of greatest hits records don't work as well as a well structured album listening through. Listening to Viva all the way through is an experience.

Female vocal? ** UPDATED - It's Rihanna **
Hey, it worked for the Stones on Gimmie Shelter. I can't believe how many people around here jump to conclusions on the tinyest bit of information. Like everything else on this album, i'll judge it when I hear it.

Anyone else worried about the length?
It would surprise me if we didn't see anything longer than Paradise's 4:38 length. X&Y averages 5+ minutes a song.

Whats with the MX Haters?
Best is subjective (I would not say that they are), but they are argubly the biggest band in the world right now.

Singles?
Every Teardrop is a Waterfall Paradise Charlie Brown Up in Flames Don't Let it Break Your Heart

Anyone else worried about the length?
Seperate out the tracks properly and Viva is at 13 tracks for 42 minutes. 14 tracks shouldn't be a problem. 50 minutes tops is my guess.

Whats with the MX Haters?
You + Point = Missed I said how can you say one is terrible and the other good when they are both the same type of name. I don't care either way, I like the song and if they released a song called Car Kids i'd like it or not based on the song, not the name.
-
My only worry...
It's called will power. If you want to experience the albumas everything for the first time, don't listen to stuff before October 24th. Nobody's fault but yours. Personally, i'll hear everything I can get my hands on and still enjoy the album on 10/24. Listening to all the songs as intended from the studio in the proper order oftenhas a different effect as a total listening experinece anyway. I can listen to all the songs on Viva throughout the day in various order with stuff in between and some stuff live, and it's nothing like sitting down and listening to the album 1-13. I don't really feel I get a true sense of the album until I hear it as inteded at least a half a dozen times through.

Whats with the MX Haters?
Car Kids sounds like a song that should be on a Kidz Bopz album or on a Disney soundtrack for a tween show. I don't know how people complain about ETIAW and love Car Kids as a song title.

Expect to hear Paradise anytime soon today.
Good description

DLIBYH
I could care less about the title. I'm excited about the description from R42 as 'almost violently life affirming' And yeah, this is coldplay, cheese comes with the band.
