Rank Coldplay's New MX Songs.
1. Charlie Brown 2. Hurts Like Heaven 3. Every Teardrop is a Waterfall 4. Us Against the World 5. Moving to Mars 6. Paradise 7. Major Minus While not included here I think Up in Flames would be after Paradise and Princess of China after Us Against the World. The only song I really don't care for is Major Minus.

I had a couple gaps too and I have freaking awesome internet connection. It must have been YouTube getting bombarded.

Probably, still blindly hoping they switch out ETIAW for DLIBYH (don't get me wrong, I love ETIAW live but I want new music!)

I thought so too, I think it'd come off better live if they only included the strings and let the band fill in the rest. The song would be better if Jonny's guitar came in earlier.

Pretty much the same as the studio, maybe the piano was a little clearer inthe bigger parts. It's an OK song andit's growing on me but it doesn't stand up to the best new stuff like Charlie Brown.

Not quite up to Glastonbury, but a great performance of Charlie Brown

I'm getting the feeling all we're going to get is the addition of Paradise after Charlie Brown. I think Paradise will come off better live than the studio recording.

Damn, theres a new version of Us Against the World that I have to download. Best performance i've heard of it yet, fantastic.

so....
Up in Flames and Paradise are about equal to me, both as just OK, with an edge to Paradise. Of the MX songs heard: Charlie Brown MX/Hurts Like Heaven Every Teardrop is a Waterfall Us Against the World Paradise Up in Flames Major Minus (just don't like it, this kind of song from Coldplay just doesn't work for me I guess)

Rate "Up in Flames"
This live version maybe a 5 or 6. The audio quality wasn't helping you couldn't hear a lot of details. I'm guessing the album version will be more like a 7, possibly an 8 if there are some nuances I couldn't notice in the tube version. The Scientist is simple, this is closer to boring, at least for now. Charlie Brown MX/Hurts Like Heaven Every Teardrop is a Waterfall Us Against the World Paradise Up in Flames Major Minus The spaces are to show some delineation. I see Paradise and Up in Flames as just OK so far, really like ETIAW and UATW and love Charlie Brown and Hurts Like Heaven.

Where is the soul?
Have you listened to Us Against the World.
-
So what the hells going on here anyway?
They released Violet Hill and Viva before the album came out last time (albeit Viva the single was closer to the release date of Viva the album than Paradise is to MX). They seem to do this more often than not based on what i've read in this thread.

Need help convincing myself Coldplay isn't Super Poppy.
That's what i've been saying. They're not bubble gum pop like the Gaga/Bieber/Katy Perry crap, but they've always had a bit of a pop sound in the traditional sense.

A Couple Months Later...
I get it how it fits in with the album and somewhat get it, but as a stand alone song I still don't like it all that much. Charlie Brown MX/Hurts Like Heaven Every Teardrop is a Waterfall Us Against the World Moving to Mars Paradise Major Minus Princess of China is still a wildcard. I've only heard a half decent quality version and it seemed unfinished. Odds are those Lalalala parts were Rihanna's parts.

I wish it was slowed down slightly
Frenetic is the word you are looking for I think. Frenetic - Fast and energetic in a rather wild and uncontrolled way (Dictionary.com) I actually prefer it that way too, I just wish I could understand the lyrics a little better when it's that way. The fast pace just fits the song.

Up In Flames, DLIBYH on Friday? (--> no)
You will be wrong

Am I the Only One Who Doesn't Hear "Wa wa wa wa"?
Agreed. I never did and I especially don't in the Glastonbury live version.
