  1. That's not an excuse for terrible lyrics. I love Paradise's music and I overall do enjoy the song very much, but the lyrics are really bad and I can certainly understand where the criticism is coming from. To be honest, your logic makes no sense at all. Since when did concept album mean you could tell a story with sub par lyrics? Sounds to me like you're fishing for excuses. There have been plenty of concept album's in the past that have amazing lyrics. edit: By the way, what is it with everyone on this forum thinking that a concept album is an album that tells a story. That's not true people. A concept album is an album that is centred around an integral concept or theme. That's it. There doesn't necessarily have to be a story told.
  2. ETIAW is my favourite song. So yeah, I prefer it.
  3. I doubt it's the record label making Coldplay do this. I'm 100% sure that this new direction isn't motivated by wanting to gain fans or money, it's motivated by the fact that the band wants to go this way. Do you really think the boys would be chasing money?
  4. Drunk doesn't suit that song at all. Glad they changed it.
  5. Kiame replied to 42rock89's topic in Paradise
Eh, if it had better lyrics I'd agree. I love the music but I just can't get into the song with how awful those lyrics are. It sounds so contrived, and so... lazy. But yeah the arrangement is great, if a little bit overproduced.
  6. What Broccoli said. ^ I'd give it a 7 though.
  7. Kiame replied to Jedi Leo's topic in Paradise
These lyrics fucking suck. There. I said it. They are shit.
  8. I think Rihanna's great. She's beautiful, she has a great voice and she has lots of appeal.. BUT GET THE FUCK OFF MY COLDPLAY ALBUM. Argh. This news along with Paradise is making me really upset. I haven't been this disheartened by Coldplay since Parachutes. Grow on me, damnit!
  9. Okay, yeah, I don't mind it. It's still not the best song called Paradise. Sinatra did it better: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PFFwTN-06AA]Frank Sinatra - Paradise - YouTube[/ame]
  10. The chorus is literally just "Para, para, paradise. Para, para, paradise. Oohooooo. para, para,p aradise.." Yeah, okay, this annoys me a little bit. I love the music though, the bassline is great.
  11. Give me a few listens. Most of my favourite songs I didn't like straight away.
  12. That's why it's so surprising to me.
  13. This kind of makes me uneasy. I don't like the feeling of someone else singing on a Coldplay record. Oh well, it'll probably be fantastic! Wow you're so underground.
  14. Really? I always pictured you as a kind of broccoli person.
  15. http://www.muselive.com/forums.php There ya go.
  16. Jesus man. Here are the facts: Coldplay hate long albums. Mylo Xyloto already has fourteen tracks. If there is a hidden track, it won't be any longer than a minute. Don Quixote won't be on the album. Seriously, how does anything mentioned in Don Quixote relate the to theme of Mylo Xyloto?
  17. Will I buy it? Does Chris Martin shit in the woods?
  18. This song changed my life. It completely inspires me every single time I listen to it. It grounds me, it makes me happy and it acknowledges my belief in myself. It is without a doubt my favourite song I have ever heard and it elevates me. And yet to others it is the worst thing Coldplay has ever done. And yeah, I've adored Coldplay since 'Chutes. Sorry for sounding like a dweeb. It's just interesting to see how different people are.
  19. Because it tears the album apart, that's why. X&Y is a classic example. The reason it was canned by nearly every music critic on earth and is most people's least favourite album is because it's long, it's messy and it is all over the place. Lady GaGa is another person who writes very popular music but her albums are convoluted messes. An album has to flow, it has to be accessible and it has to hook you. Long albums can't do that. Also, when Chris Martin was asked what one thing would he do if he could travel back in time he said he would travel back in time before X&Y was released and cut it down. So Coldplay themselves are very much against long albums too. This is why these "fourteen" tracks will probably end up being around the same length as VLVADAAHF. There are 13 tracks on Viva, counting Chinese Sleep Chant, The Escapist and Reign of Love.
  20. But I hate Snow Patrol! DAMNIT!
  21. Creating a good setlist is just the same as creating good pancakes. Remember, you gotta add egg. It's crap without egg. Remember. Egg.
  22. Bah! Fuck, that's ages away!
  23. No, this isn't a sex thread. I have a very good friend who is one of those Australian people. I'm wondering, because Australia is only seven hours or so away from the 12th of September, will Paradise be released on itunes in Australia in seven hours? Or will it not be released until it's the 12th according to UK or US time? This always confuses me, do any of you know? Thanks! :)
  24. I don't mind someone being critical, I just can't stand arrogance. I've seen a few posters quite blatantly declare that many of the songs on MX are objectively worthless and that they could do better themselves. Yeah, that doesn't sit well with me at all. Really, all they are saying is that they are fans of indie rock and Coldplay don't play indie-alt rock anymore like they did on Parachutes. But they are saying it in such a damn annoying way.
