LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
Whatever it is, we'll never know. I mean, they could have been a better band but we can never be sure of that. We can only presume, we can even dream about it... but that's it. I really do see your point man, nobody has the right to be mad at you. Though I'm okay with the "new" direction the band is taking, sometimes I too wish for a more raw, more rock sound. It was inevitable really.. considering the fact the it was the sound Coldplay presented to us since their birth as a band. But there are so many things to consider these days. And for a band like Coldplay, There's always the pressure to release a great album. I remember Chris Martin said on an interview (MX era) that he wanted everyone who bought their albums to enjoy it, like eating a really good sandwich and I think they achieved that somehow. We can all see that the band is trying and incorporating a lot of styles since Viva and I respect that. It produced memorable and great tunes. Evolution paid off. But our what ifs will remain unanswered.

I see :happy2: though I hope they release "Songs of Experience" soon.

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
Will U2 release a new album this year? As for Coldplay, a 2015 release is still on target at the moment considering that they started recording A Head Full of Dreams.

Mumford & Sons
:husky: The Wolf is really catchy (Mumford & Sons sounded like Foo Fighters on this one)

Most notable would be The Fray. Already mentioned are Bastille and Imagine Dragons. Mumford and Sons' 3rd album sounds like Coldplay. You could also include Kodaline on the list. I suggest you listen to other post Britpop bands like Elbow.

Never had been the trend setters but always the band that is brilliant on what they do. Someone also mentioned earlier that Coldplay is a step ahead of everybody and I agree with that. No wonder bands emulate their style :laugh3:

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
I really do think that Coldplay is very much aware of what's going on in the music industry. Somehow it helps them to stay relevant. It would be repetitive and uninteresting at the same time if they keep on making songs or albums using the same style or genre. Not that I don't want another A Rush of Blood to the Head caliber album but I know the band has the ability to make great songs while exploring other styles and genres as well. Take Viva la Vida or dare I say MX. They carefully utilized what was trending on a specific period and treated it as their own... adding twist in their formula-based sound. I was initially alarmed when Chris said on an interview that they don't care anymore on what people might say on what they are going to release. But I realized that it was never an issue because they never had challenged the music soundscape. Yes, they had innovated their sound but never changed the game plan for music. But it all worked for them and worked for us. It's like every album is a summary of a particular point in time.

A new blog from Roadie 42 will satisfy my thirst for news. Oh, I forgot the website is down.

It would be great to have Eno back either as one of the producers or as a player (his role on MX was not really as a producer but more of a band member. The band actually gave him credits for most of the songs for his additional compositions, coining the term "Enoxification").

Yes it definitely is. I wonder if they have new a producer other than the Norwegian one.

The change in producers means stepping out of the comfort zone or maybe stepping out of the box. Hopkins had been a long time collaborator of Coldplay and he contributed a lot of amazing things. That being said, the change will somehow bring new ideas for the band to work on or develop certain areas that need more emphasis musically (ex. from Ken Nelson to Brian Eno). On the other hand, it is a risk for the band. At this point, I'm not sure what to feel about the change really. It could be good or bad. Sometimes, it's also beneficial to stick with someone you know because they are already familiar with what you can do and what you can bring into the table (ex. Nigel Godrich and Radiohead). But it could also start the possibility of mediocrity..

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
Yeah, it's highly unlikely that they'll do such thing. And I would prefer to hear the stuffs they are currently working on. Don't get me wrong. I really do love Don Quixote (part of its lyrics were used in Christmas Lights though) and songs like Ladder to the Sun (much like Gravity and Sleeping Sun, I regret that it didn't end up in the album [excluding the Tour Edition]). But I just want them to be in a separate album. Sort of a B-sides album like Dead in the Boot by Elbow.

Yeah... Any news or rumors will definitely excite too many fans esp. at this point in time. He can do that with an indie band but not with a massive global artist like Coldplay. They maybe past their prime (arguably) but their fanbase is rock-solid. If a question is like a rocket, he'll probably get thousands of rockets at his back.

I would like to add that GS songs were also revealed (in snippets) on the interview with Zane. Although they haven't played much of it live, almost all the songs were played on that interview. And with just nine tracks (excluding the songs on the deluxe edition), It was pretty disappointing.

Happy 10th Birthday X&Y!
I've got to say that this album was so underappreciated and over-criticized. Honestly, I enjoyed it more than Parachutes and their latter releases. X&Y is the X factor of their catalogue

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
Well about playing live soon, I don't think so. I guess they'll announce something about the album first. Unless they will emulate the release style they did with mx (on which almost half of the new songs were played live before the official news of MX's release.) What I'm waiting right now is for the first single to drop. If AHFOD has a target release date of Q3 2015, I would be surprised if we don't hear anything on the span of 2 months. The hardest part begins... Waiting.

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
I'll buy the physical copy when it comes out. There's usually a delay in terms of release in our country so I'll listen to the album leak first.

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
I had this feeling that the band is aiming to top the charts again. I mean single-wise. Sort of a follow up to Viva la Vida's success.

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
They will sound like Coldplay

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
You nailed it. Expectations basically just make you want to hear something that perhaps the band will not create. That's the lesson I learned from the GS era. The album was so different from what I thought it would be. Of course it's not bad to wish for something groundbreaking or the "back to the roots" thing but sometimes it's a lot better to just wait and let Coldplay surprise us all.

25 or 53 Songs In the new album A Head Full Of Dreams (According to Davide Rossi)
I think they're nearing the screening process where they pick the songs that would fit in the album. The idea of a double album is too good to be true. I hope we'll get more than 10 songs

I really do enjoy MX and I enjoy listening to GS too. In fact, Coldplay had never let me down. I do love all their albums and as a result, I'm still a solid fan until now. I'm not worried for LP7. I'm much worried about loosing my patience for waiting :P
