  1. It's always good reward the old fans as well as the new ones, and A Rush of Blood is an incredible album.
  2. Yeah that's all fair, I just didn't want to seem totally negative.
  3. I'd go with UATW too actually. But what about if they release the extra EP? There might be a new LiTii for them to release...
  4. I hope not? It's my favourite, I don't want little girls to sing it because it's been on MTV on repeat. Release Up In Flames, do what you will with that.
  5. But hey, it's well recorded and well played. Just because it's not my thing, doesn't mean it's not someone else's.
  6. Yeah, that's what I'm saying. I think it's interesting, but it's not something I'd choose to listen to.
  7. I don't think the vocal effect works, but it's an interesting mix of things.
  8. There's a PDF booklet free with the download. There are lyrics in there.
  9. Wow, what can I say? Thank you all for listening. Re Alien Radio; thanks a lot, designed the website myself! Re BagMaster; that's the best thing anyone can say if it's not their cup of tea. Thanks a lot! Re Carefulwhereyoustand; I'm not sure I'm afraid mate. It said on the Bandcamp settings that you could unsubscribe at any time, but I'm not completely sure. Sorry :( Re The Champion; thank you for your feedback! I didn't ask for it, no, but I appreciate any comments from anyone that listens to our music. Firstly, I'm glad you enjoyed certain aspects. From what I can see, those are the mellower songs. Some of these songs are old as the band themselves - I wrote Godsend at 16, Potencia, 15 (I'm 19) - so it was important to get them out, but we are moving more in the direction that you seemed to prefer (tracks 5, 8, 10). Secondly, this was recorded, mixed and mastered by the five of us in a spare room. We have no experience in recording, other than what three of us learn at college, and we strictly decided against autotune of any kind. We have done everything; every instrument, every vocal, the art, the direction, the production. If it's patchy, it's cause of that! Thirdly, I'm sorry you didn't like the lyrics as that's my job! They're not consistently brilliant, but I believe I have my moments, so we'll agree to disagree on that ;) Thank you all again, we're overwhelmed by the response to this record, and we hope you enjoy it.
  10. Also... what have we learned about VlV? I missed that :(
  11. It's similar, but what I'd say is that you could find it in any song if you look hard enough. Sorry if it seems like I'm trampling over your hard work here, I just can't believe that they'd reeeally do something like this :P
  12. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Illusory_correlation Slow down. This melody appears once or twice in what would've been the really defining points in the songwriting: UFO, I'm guessing, is the origin of this melody. I'm guessing it's the earliest album track of this era, and maybe that's why it was favoured over some of the others? But either way, it sounds like the origin of the acoustic record. MX starts the album. MX was probably a title of a different song that wasn't good enough, so they took the UFO melody and placed it in there. Hurts Like Heaven was probably built from the MX chords, but there are so many brilliant melodies, from both Chris and Johnny's guitar, that you can't pin down the MX melody. Similarities, sure, but concrete evidence? Nope, can't hear it. Don't Let It Break Your Heart is the antithesis to Hurts Like Heaven; stadium-rocking anthems that starts the album and it's encore. Thus, an MX antithesis has to follow DLIBYH. You're correct, AHT is a reprise. The latter half of Up With The Birds is another huge moment on the album, as it closes the record. It's the polar opposite, the end of the record. So the melody's use here is sorta self-explanatory. I cannot hear it anywhere else. I think what they've done is perfectly natural considering they've called MX a concept record. And MMIX is not a stretched out MX, fact.
  13. Can't thank you both enough. Same goes to anyone else kind enough to download! <3
  14. http://www.weather-underground.co.uk/ Hi everyone, I'd really appreciate it if you gave my band a listen. We've just released our début album for free. I'll let you decide what it sounds like but Coldplay have been a big influence on my songwriting; Godsend is inspired by Don't Panic, Green Eyes kinda Coldplay, Nebulous Rave by Chris' wordless hooks, those are two examples. Anyway, please download, I'd be eternally grateful. Thanks for your time! :)
  15. A recurring melody would make sense two of the preludes and UFO, but I don't hear anything in Major Minus. And the "Matching up" of lyrics? That's bollocks, sorry. EDIT: Actually, now I think of it, "Might have to go where they don't know my name" has that same melody.
  16. Don't you think they would've recorded them already though? Oracle said they're not heading back in this soon.
  17. Always wanted to say this.
  18. I think it's really funny when people judge how good songs are going to be on the lyrics.
  19. Go buy Mylo Xyloto and listen to it and enjoy it and expect another Coldplay album in three years, like you would for any other artist. Okay?
  20. Hopes and Fears > Under The Iron Sea > Perfect Symmetry > Night Train. The problem with being guitarless rock, piano rock or whatever you want to call it, is that it's basically a gimmick, and it paints you in a corner that's quite difficult to break out of. That's what's happened to Keane; that a woeful fall from grace, songwriting-wise.
  21. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HlT9miMe1Ec]Keane Looking Back Subtitulado Español - YouTube[/ame] I don't want Coldplay to become this. Let's make no mistake, here; Keane haven't been for a long time/ever.
  22. "Respectable manner"? It's a single, not a nude photoshoot. "Military Wives shit is all about money money money" - well yeah, they're, err, raising money for charity? They've actually had some say in the song, they've actually written it and it means something; music is about expression, and their song is expressive. I wouldn't listen to it, it's not my thing, but it's not a "publicity stunt", it's women wanting to do their other halves proud. The X Factor on the other hand is a conveyor belt of dross that churns out a puppet each year, that has no say in their album, doesn't write its music, and aims not for art or expression but to reach out to a teenage market. The two aren't comparable. I'm just saying, if there's one year where the Christmas number one is actually fair enough, it's this year.

Oh I certainly don't love it anymore.
