Dear Coldplay, Hiring shit DJs to do shit club remixes does not count as giving us b-sides. Finish up Spanish Rain and Famous Old Painters, and give us those instead with Tomorrow, Great Expectations and Princess of China minus Rihanna. Thanks, Coldplay fan
  2. What time signature is it?
  3. I think it's metaphorical but just the idea of Chris swordfighting under a chair makes me laugh.
  4. Much better than the first song I ever wrote, and to echo, yes very Coldplay. ...If you want to improve as a songwriter though, the best piece of advice I was ever given is that concrete images are the key to writing. Concrete images that you imagine in your head, something different that makes you think. A good example of this would be in The Smiths' Stop Me If You Think That You've Heard This One Before, where Morrissey claims "And the pain was enough to make a shy bald buddhist reflect and plan a mass-murder". Of course, not all lyrics are that graphic, and something like "I've got my right side fighting while my left hides under the chair" also gives a nice picture. Not a criticism of your piece, just a little advice I picked up! :P
  5. Baw8cc has summed up everything brilliantly, so all I'll say is that no one, least of all the band, is forcing you to like Coldplay, so don't make your piece seem like a crusade of righteousness that the world is forcing you down.
  6. Doesn't help that the first time I saw it, they fucked it up :P I just don't think that it's as good as other previous slow moments; the start of 42, The Scientist, Green Eyes...
  7. ...Or is this the most complacent moment from Coldplay in a while? People praise it lyrically but it doesn't really say much, and yeah, it's acoustic, which is alright if you like that... Is this song ever so overrated?
  8. I think Coldplay work better under pressure, regardless of producer. A Rush of Blood to the Head was made under pressure to better Parachutes, and Viva was made under pressure to become a better band, and those two are the two best albums. Mylo Xyloto is the sound of Coldplay being as comfortable as they've ever been. Sloppy? Complacent? Maybe. But that's down to the band.
  9. I'm seeing Coldplay at the O2 in December - if they dare play something rejected over Death and all His Friends, Strawberry Swing or 42, I won't be a happy bunny.
  10. I heard Amsterdam being played in a shop once. Random does not cover it.
  11. Thanks, it's nice to know it was appreciated :)
  12. Thank heavens for small mercies, it could look like this:
  13. I have the Coldplay edition of this also. No review. Q Magazine are fickle beasts though. Gave Flying Lotus 3 stars for his masterpiece Cosmogramma in May 2010. In March 2011, they told us they'd given it a 4 whilst comparing it to King of Limbs. This happens a lot.
  14. (Sorry I want another go) Good: MX/Hurts Like Heaven is the greatest opening to any album since, well, Politik. Bad: The lack of piano.
  15. One good thing: "You're holding in your hands the two halves of my heart" One bad thing: Not nearly as many lyrics that pretty.
  16. If it's already got old for you, you've been listening to it too much. That's me being very honest with myself. I think you need to go and write for NME. You seem convinced that your opinion is gospel.
  17. If you look at it from a distance, the main colour I would say, would be blue. The same as Achtung Baby, an album that drew comparisons with MX's cover when it was announced.
  18. It's reversible. So you have in actual fact, got both.
  19. Mark replied to Voskhod349's topic in Coldplay
Damn you for making me choose between Amsterdam and Death and All His Friends. -.-
  20. Which one's better?
  21. I've got the U2 cover... No Coldplay review... They do however mention halfway through "Coldplay's stunning 5 star album, Mylo Xyloto"
  22. Why do we need to compare them? Obviously, we all enjoy some more than others, but I don't think I can pick between ARoBttH or VlVoDaAhF. That's one of the great things about a band like Coldplay. Their albums are all completely different. Lady Gaga will always release the same brand of pop music, but bands like U2, Radiohead, Coldplay and the like evolve.
  23. I might if I knew the song, the band and the album it's off. Give us a hint, mate.
  24. X&Y is so bad, I can't believe they made it.
