  1. I'm sorry but it's wrong for all the reasons been laid out already. It is selling the song, whether it's with money, attention or audience. What about the whole image that Glee has? Everyone in the music industry sees them as filthy parasites so what does it say about Coldplay for giving them their work? It's not good publicity at all.
  2. I do see what you mean. But should we judge it as a song or an interlude? The same as whether we should judge Paradise as a hit or a chapter? I'd say it's a decent hit, and a very good chapter.
  3. Right. Albums like Dark Side of the Moon, Kid A and even Viva La Vida should be judged on the concept, in my opinion. But hey, if some don't agree, that's up to them.
  4. Yeah I'm so bragging here. You're the one that brought up being a musician, I merely counteracted it by saying that I was one too. All I was trying to say in the first place was that regardless of whether the song is good or not, the concept behind the relative key thing is clever. If you don't like the song, fine, but it doesn't affect the concept.
  5. I write music myself, I'm aware of these things, thanks. You might have noticed though I talked not the song up, but the album. Or perhaps you'd prefer if I sang it to you, given how gifted a musician you are?
  6. Well that's it then, there's no chance of conceptual brilliance, storytelling or even the songs being in similar keys if the song's shit. Thanks for that bollock-blowingly brilliant contribution.
  7. Back to topic... Car Kids is obviously a theme of the album. Who cares about the song? If it's not on the album or the following singles, it's not good enough a song. Simples.
  8. If you do get hold of Q... ...I'm one of the 25 readers who talks about an album on the last page! :D Mine's the Suck It And See one.
  9. My bet would be the Swedish House Mafia mix of Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall.
  10. They might be able to count Prospekt's March, or bring out a Greatest Hits.
  11. I could understand your fury, if Coldplay had released them...
  12. I think Wedding Bells didn't make it simply because it wasn't good enough...
  13. You're pretty much basing the public perception of the band on your own opinion. "I think they've released three good albums". A lot of people would actually rank A Rush of Blood to the Head as one of the albums of the last decade. A few would say Viva La Vida. If you want to go into why Coldplay won't release anything considered "legendary", it's probably because pretty much everything has been done, and since the turn of the century, bands have been looking band and going retro, not forward. But that's a whole other discussion. As is the fact that no critic will openly call Coldplay the greatest band in the world for fear of being laughed at. You are aware of the Coldplay hate in the world, I assume? But hey. Give it time. The Joshua Tree wasn't a classic album over night. Albums need to mature like wines, and then you gauge its impact on music.
  14. I've ordered the pop-up edition for myself, but it's going to my home address - not my university address. My mum will also want herself a copy of the album, so I'm taking advantage of my local record shop. It's probably the cheapest, no p+p, and I'm helping to keep a small business going. Not meaning to preach or what have you, but I'd seriously recommend to those of you that buy online, you'll feel good about yourself if you buy from your local record shop :)
  15. Coldplay site is probably more expensive, but more money will go to the band if you buy it from there.
  16. I don't understand the big thing about Moving To Mars. It's alright, but I'd rather listen to Charlie Brown or Us Against The World.
  17. The only thing that annoyed me about the first play was Comedy Dave on Radio 1 (most inappropriate nickname ever?) talking over the end, saying "They should have cut this bit off."
  18. Glee are parasites who should write their own songs instead of taking everyone else's. Where's the culture in covering week after week? Where's the fairness to artists who write their own songs but can't get airplay over a manufactured kids group singing Journey? Where's the soul in any of it? I hope to God Coldplay don't partake in this charade, as it's just wrong.
  19. +1 I think people need to get over this. They chose Rihanna. End of.
  20. Think you'll find Hurts Like Heaven is in Bb. And I'd be very surprised if MX was in 3/4...
  21. Actually, it's saying a lot, at least Rihanna had some control in the direction of each of her albums. And most artists tune their vocals, even Coldplay, but Rihanna is someone who doesn't heap tons of autotune onto her voice. As I said, I don't like Rihanna (but that Only Girl In The World song is pretty good) but it could've been worse. They could've picked Katy Perry, Justin Bieber, JLS, The Wanted or The Saturdays to work with.
  22. There's a clip with them playing Paradise? Is that the video? EDIT: It's alright, it's not :P
