  1. Frankly, the song's already been written for her, and she's merely a session musician on PoC. She's not intended to bring something artistic to it. But if you really want to talk about what's wrong in music, X Factor's a better place to start. At least Rihanna didn't skip a queue to get where she is. EDIT: Also as a point, it will open the doors for Rihanna fans to check out bands like Coldplay if they like it? I don't like Rihanna all that much, but if I was working with Coldplay, I'd want their fans not to judge the song before it's been heard...
  2. MX is always going to divide opinion, but I look to this album with an open mind because I realise how difficult it must be for the band to move forward. If we're going with "two songs makes a good album", then the Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall EP is as great as The Bends. Oh, and don't compare just about any band to Radiohead. Radiohead are unique, and their evolution works for them, but it wouldn't work for Coldplay, as they have different talents.
  3. I think a lot of people are thinking "Shit, they've recorded a below-par Only Girl In The World/Umbrella/What's My Name/Russian Roulette". Look, half the reason Rihanna is crap is because she has crap songs. Didn't we all like PoC originally? As the other half, well that's her voice. And she sounds "completely different". So it's worth giving a chance? I just wouldn't expect Coldplay fans to turn their nose up at other artists like this. Coldplay's music is all-embracing and appeals to the masses, so to be biased against certain artists working with the band is a bit daft if you ask me. By all means, dislike it. When you've heard it.
  4. The guitar line. The chords pop up in the "love over this" part of Politik, the chorus of Lovers In Japan, the verse of The Hardest Part and the whole of Lost.

If Chris Martin got away with selling millions of records containing a fart-song, I'd call him a genius.
  6. I think it's my favourite too. Although, I love everything from that album <3
  7. Thanks for the review, I am more somehow more excited than before, which is some feat. :)
  8. Paradise is an emotive, optimistic and well-produced pop song, with a heart and soul lacking from anything in the charts, that demonstrates a band's bravery to move forward and embrace all genres... And I'm looking forward to Mylo Xyloto more than I've ever looked forward to any record before.
  9. They won't group all sales. It really does suck that Paradise isn't eligible, because people who want JUST the single, download JUST the single. The ways we have to buy music has to change.
  10. Rihanna appeared on our version of X Factor, and sang with a guy who sings in falsetto. This is it. Don't get me started on the X Factor.
  11. Look if they didn't put "Para para" they'd put "Paaaaarrrraaaa". How many versions have you heard?
  12. If they're doing a full tour in 2012, does anyone know where abouts in the UK they'll be? I'd like to see a Wembley date again, and a Hyde Park one. But I'm doubtful of the latter.
  13. No one's forcing you to listen to it. Go on, run along and put Parachutes on repeat.
  14. Not only that, but the first four songs on the album are in relative key. So they probably all flow.
  15. Goats don't have AIDs.
  16. Oh, and by the way, guess what key Charlie Brown is in? G Minor.
  17. Yep, my mistake! Sorry about that guys! :(
  18. Oh in that case, obviously, you can shift a song from say, C Major to D Major. But not to D Minor.
  19. Released as the b-side to Life In Technicolor ii if my memory serves me correctly.
  20. Mark replied to Mark's topic in Coldplay
I was thinking earlier that what with the slow start to Viva, the album could've started with Life in Technicolor, moved onto Lovers In Japan, Lost, 42 and then placed Lhuna at 5th track as the ballad. Then gone Yes/Glass of Water, Viva, Violet, Strawberry, Death.
  21. I don't really understand the question, and I can't read or write music, but I write songs, and I'll try my best to answer. You get different modes within keys. Like in G minor, could could play a D Major chord, and it's changed the entire tone of the song you're playing. So if what you're asking is "Could any song be shifted to any key?" the answer is yes. But is every song in every mode: no. Hope that helps :)
  22. You could say that about any song in the same key. I don't know what mode each song is, so one might use a couple more notes if it was in, say harmonic minor.
