  1. I'm reliably informed it's 6/8 and then 4/4.
  2. It sounds like a bar of 6/4 followed by three bars of 4/4. Which wouldn't be a surprise as Violet Hill's chorus enters 6/4. But as I say, I'm clueless.
  3. It doesn't sound common time to me. Maybe 7/8 or 5/4? I don't know. I can't play anything out of 4/4 or 6/8, but maybe some talented musicians will know...
  4. Are you on something? Codex all the way!
  5. There's obviously a lot of speculation about a Prospekt's March EP. Will they really do that again? Especially as there's a pop-up book edition of MX. They're doing so much for 24/10 edition, it seems a bit of a rip-off to release a deluxe album a year or so from now. What other alternatives are there to the following EP do we reckon? And what would we like to see on it? I personally think they should hide CDs with tracks that didn't make it, and then do graffiti clues in big cities, leading to their whereabouts :P
  6. Agree that those tracks are amazing, especially Codex. But remember, that's half the album. So a 6/7 is perhaps fairer imo. It depends on the reviewer, and Coldplay are disliked by many indie publications because they're so commercial. I'd suggest reading Q magazine - they're kinder to the likes of Coldplay, U2, Oasis, Arctic Monkeys, Muse...
  7. Coldplay still amaze me. They're doing a concept album, with a story, and they've only just decided the tracklisting!?
  8. 1. Paradise 2. Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall (Swedish House Mafia remix)
  9. Mark replied to Mark's topic in Past Releases
I doubt it would ever happen either but it's fun to speculate! Could you imagine a Coldplay Exogenesis? Clocks would be very interesting, especially for the middle eight!
  10. I don't know what you guys are all into, other than Coldplay obviously, but I recently went to see Basement Jaxx with an orchestra. Got me and my sister thinking which other bands we'd like to see in a symphonic style. The obvious one for us was Muse, as we're big fans, and they're known for their classical influence. But I suggested Coldplay, and we were thinking of a decent setlist for orchestral arrangement. Viva La Vida, Strawberry Swing and Yes would be perfect for strings and added brass, Talk would be interesting, White Shadows maybe, 42, Yellow, Trouble, Everything's Not Lost in a jazz style, God Put A Smile (but more like the Mark Ronson version?), A Rush of Blood to the Head... The list goes on. What do you reckon would work? And would it EVER happen?
  11. Viva got 6.9... That's pretty reasonable for them guys... I'm going for 5.8. But I reckon Q will give it 5/5 and NME 9/10.
  12. I'm a massive Kanye fan myself, and I've only recently been to seen him live. I find My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy to be the greatest hip-hop record of a generation, and a landmark in not only the genre but music. By playing the new songs live for a while, Kanye West could tweak, fiddle with and perfect the songs he had. I remember him saying that he works so hard on every tiny detail - which runs parallel to Will's "They'll have to prize it out our hands". You know what though, I would sacrifice six new songs for Coldplay to have an impact like Kanye's just had. I love them to pieces, and I want them to be as revered and successful as possible. I watched the Glasto performance on TV and it was a special thing. No one can take away the breathtaking moments of watching Charlie Brown and Hurts Like Heaven for the first time. So it's no biggie for me, knowing half the album.
  13. Don't get me wrong, I think it'd be great to give a message of the album from the title. But I prefer the graffiti artist interpretation personally :)
  14. I'm struggling to comprehend why they'd research so much into the etymology of gobbledegook noises, and form it together as a title. That's insane. Even by their standards. I stick by my theory. Mylo Xyloto is a name. And re: Ronayne94, you can believe whichever theory you like, mate. I find bdevil89's theory is utterly bonkers, but I'd love it to be true.
  15. I admire your determination, but I really don't believe any of it. Chris has said it's about two characters fighting against an oppression. Paradise is third person. Perhaps the protagonist is Mylo Xyloto.
  16. Don't the 42.5 and 490 sound rather precise to you? Like when someone says, "I dunno, 60,001 times" or something along those lines? I don't think they'd count the number of songs they'd started, just the ones they finished. Perhaps he's saying 42.5 minutes because that's the golden time they wanted Viva to be. Aaaaaannnddd maybe with a little bit of luck... they'll release slightly more by accident. Like I dunno... 45696 minutes worth.
  17. I'm a songwriter, and I have to say, I'm inspired more by Arctic Monkeys' Alex Turner than Chris Martin lyrically. But Chris Martin has written melodies that will be etched in my heart longer than any words will.
  18. No problem :) If you haven't already noticed, "." and "," are tears, "-" or "_" is the Moving to Mars rocket cloud and "Ø" is the Major Minus eye ;)
  19. Someone's clearing forgetting FIX YOU :P
  20. 1. Download the .zip file. 2. Unzip the file. You can do this either by extracting via Windows Explorer or programs such as 7Zip. 3. Open up a new window, and go to your Control Panel: head to Fonts. 4. Drag the fonts from one window to the next. 5. Revel in the fact you are now awesome.
  21. Wow, I hadn't noticed the U1R! :O I need to pay more attention >:( In black spray paint, I reckon it might say "Leaf" towards the bottom right... Maybe "Leaf over"?
  22. A cross between Clocks and Viva La Vida. Sweeping arpeggio, heavenly harmonies and a thumping drum beat from Will. But if it's half as good as I'm expecting, I'll be over the moon. :D
  23. LP6

Mark replied to princesanji's topic in Ghost Stories (2014)
I think it'll be different. Massively different. LPs 4 and 5 are very much Arcade Fire-esque art-rock and the first three are often referred to as a trilogy. So you know, LP6 has to be a new era. But hey, we're looking at 2014 at the earliest for LP6, so let's just enjoy LP5.
  24. Muse are back in the studio next month, and reports suggest the next album will be more introspective, Floydian and featuring a vibraphone lullaby.
  25. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lCFOw1ukQF0]Coldplay - Rainy Day - YouTube[/ame] I can't hear her. Can someone point out when abouts she comes in please? :P
