  1. I downloaded the Friendly Fires and Arctic Monkeys EPs from this year. Arctic Monkeys have poor sound, and Friendly Fires have poor tracklisting. Not sure I can take a third disappointment from Coldplay - especially as Leftrightleftrightleft was so perfect :/
  2. The first song that comes to mind when I hear it (and I've only heard it once) is Yes. I may be way out on that, but I'm sure the band are looking for more of a Viva La Vida vibe this summer, with say Charlie Brown and Hurts Like Heaven. When Coldplay fans are paying especially to see Coldplay, they'll drop the favourites in the set, but at Glasto etc, they have to crowd-please, let's be honest. As for the screen theory, I don't buy it. I would let nothing stop me from playing a song I enjoy live.
  3. I do love Hurts Like Heaven. I'd quite like some of the better tracks to remain unreleased though. Sacred for us album buyers and not picked up by the riff-raff of the public! :D
  4. I don't think there's necessarily a reason guys, but that's my opinion. Politik looks rather beautiful as a word though. The "k" to me seems to be guarding the "i"s. But maybe I'm mental. Prospekt also has a strange "k", as does "Lukas". It is one of my favourite song titles ever though. I'm in a band and wrote a song which I named Potencia in Politik's honour.
  5. Just to be clear here, a lot of you are referring to Charlie Brown as "first" and "lead" single, when it's Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall. Q said it was a confirmed track, they've mentioned it's going to end the album, etc. I would place my house on ETIAW being on the album. That aside, I think Charlie Brown will be released at some point - definitely the first song of the ones we've heard. It's between Charlie Brown and Up With The Birds for second single imo ;)
  6. Opener: Politik. Although I do love MX. Closer: Tempted to say Death and all His Friends, but will plump for Amsterdam.
  7. The album will be big, especially if Radiohead can get away with telling everyone ten days before. The world are hanging on the band's every word.
  8. I'd imagine it to be a slow-burning track 9, just before the massive crescendo of track 10. But then guessing a track by its title isn't always clever: who'd have known Rainy Day was that upbeat?
  9. I always thought it'd take up two spots on LP5. And I'd count that as two tracks, because I'd still count LiT as Track 1 and Cemeteries of London as Track 2. So it'll be a "/"?
  10. This was the question and answer! July 26, 2011 - submitted by Samina, United States of America Q. What songs did Coldplay perform at the iTunes Festival this year? The Oracle replies: It was pretty much the same setlist as most of the other festival shows but with the addition of Moving to Mars making its live debut. *Hurts Like Heaven Yellow In My Place Major Minus Lost! The Scientist Shiver Violet Hill God Put A Smile Upon Your Face Moving To Mars Us Against The World Politik Viva la Vida Charlie Brown Life Is For Living The encore: Clocks Fix You Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall *I know some will say they began with MX, but I'm not counting that as a track... What should we make of that? I'm confused now :(
  11. You'd only pick one? :P Have to agree with there though. :)
  12. Love in a Lethal Dose is my favourite. Sounds dark, reminds me of Arctic Monkeys' Love Is A Laserquest. Under One Roof is another title being thrown around. As for the mystery, I reckon it's pretty mysterious scrawling notes all over a piano and letting us work out what they all mean. Radiohead gave away lyrics to Amnesiac (2001) on Kid A (2000) and labelled it a portal to the future. That's mysterious too I'd say, despite giving fans an insight.
  13. I expect Strawberry Swing to be a song that started with the title. Rather like Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall, Hurts Like Heaven, A Rush of Blood to the Head, 42... Of course, I don't know if any of these songs actually did start with the title (apart from 42), but they're all wonderful phrases that must've come to mind before the rest of the lyrics.
  14. Welcome along, friend. I'm new too, how you finding the forum? I'd expect parts of Spanish Rain to be on the record, but not in its old state. The "Ole ole ole" section seemed a bit daft to me, but it was a decent track. It was written before Will said they scrapped the lot, too. Famous Old Painters is probably here and there in the new material. Same with Leftrightleftrightleft. We'll probably find MX and Mylo Xyloto to be the same song. Other than that, I don't want to Moving to Mars on the new record particulary - decent b-side but everything on aRoBttH and VlVoDaAHF is easily better than it. And they're going for a masterpiece remember...
  15. I'm going with Coldplay and David Bowie :D
  16. That looks good to me. I just hope it's not called Mylo Xyloto >:(
  17. This is why I couldn't understand why people thought Viva was a rip-off; Chris has always admitted to samples... They were going to work with Johnny Cash before he died; I wouldn't put it past them to get Leonard Cohen in on a track.
  18. The wreckage of a universe floats by.
  19. Oh sorry :(
  20. Will recently did an interview with Q magazine. Thought I'd share with you the major bits. 'The title is among an undecided "shortlist of three", the tracklisting "isn't quite there" and they're still mixing and overdubbing bits as they think of them... "Yes, typical Coldplay fashion," laughs drummer Will Champion. We're leaving it to the last minute. We'll keep going until it literally has to leave to get mastered and pressed.' '"We're prone to saying things before we write an album that prove to be totally wrong," the drummer explains. "There came a point last summer when we realised we had different types of songs in various styles, so rather than make an album that's all stripped-down we decided to throw everything into one basket. It's true we scrapped stuff but a lot of those songs became antecedents of what you'll hear on the finished album."' There's a section about the Beehive. Will explains how being in a rehearsal hall got them closer to how the songs would sound in live form. Which is good news for the next tour I guess! It then claims that confirmed songs are ETIAW, 'U2 a-like Major Minus, Hurts Like Heaven (a likely single thumping to the echo of Springsteen's Dancing in the Dark), the dubby Princess of China and instant classic Charlie Brown.' The confirmed tracks in the little box at the top left-hand corner however only confirms Teardrop and Charlie Brown. Will also calls the album "vibrant". Hope you found that interesting :)
  21. No seriously, I'm gonna do the same. I'm a big Muse fan, as well Radiohead, and I've spent £60 and £30 on their last respective albums. Coldplay though I'm prepared to spend even more - I have every B-side, a few demos, every live thing, each album, and I got the ETIAW bundle of vinyl, print and CD. If anyone calls you sad, just remind them how much it'll be worth one day!
  22. For those of you wondering where the Coldplay is, my spare X&Y's there, Parachutes is in my sister's room, and Viva La Vida and Rush of Blood are both in my mum's car. I didn't want to stick up my favourite CDs in case I couldn't get them down.
  23. I was one of those who thought it was dreadful first time round, not gonna lie. But on second, third and fourth reflection, I soon realised how good it is. As singalong as Clocks, as grandiose as Viva La Viva, and as contemporary as anything in the charts, without sounding dull and Daft Punk-lite - as much chart music sounds at the moment. And for those that claim Coldplay to be "boring", well it don't half shoot them down. 50% of the time I hear it, I'm in the shower, so I'm learning to resist the urge to dance to it.

Thanks guys, sorry for my impatience! Just thought no one liked me :( I'm really looking forward to using this forum, as I'm a pretty big Coldplay fan. It's nice to meet you all, thanks for your warm welcome :) <3
