  1. I think Life In Technicolor would've been better if it'd flowed into Cemeteries of London better, but you had this optimistic autoharp riff preceding a dark, Victorian rock song. Sure LiT was good, but part of it being a good opener is that it has to set the right tone. It's not the right tone if track 2 veers off into the opposite direction from tone set. That's the way I see it anyhow.
  2. There won't be a hidden track. 14 is quite enough. I know a lot of people grew attached to Spanish Rain, as it was the first sign of material from this era, but I think we have to accept, they've probably written 20 better songs in the past two years.
  3. I'm so surprised that you all agree with me! My sister was saying she couldn't give a toss on the tracklisting and she's (almost!) a bigger Coldplay fan than me. I agree that Politik is the best opener. Parachutes was brilliantly written and is the perfect blueprint for how to write an accessible, enjoyable, fun album. It's a diary of a young band, and it's immature for me. Part of it's charm. For Politik to obliterate that though. It's got the twist that breaks your heart but before that, it's cold and it's not happy-go-lucky Parachuting Chris, it's like hearing your loved one on the phone but they don't sound like themselves anymore. For me, half of the reason I love that track is because it's the start of an era. It's so exciting, it's so different, and our band are evolving and we're watching their new first steps. That's how I feel about Hurts Like Heaven. And Up With The Birds will feel like the end of the era.

There's talk of shorts and instrumentals. This precedes Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall. Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall has a very ambient beginning. Like a short Violet Hill. Anyone else think that the rest of that Violet Hill-esque intro is in fact MMIX? I'd like to think it's around 30-40 seconds long with Eno synths, Johnny with echoey guitar and an alien-like vocoder (to fit the theme) repeating the letters "MMIX".
  5. Same as me. I find it utterly nonsensical to listen to anything after Amsterdam has finished on my iPod.
  6. See here's the thing. Back in the day, track order mattered, as records were one long, unskippable art form. These days, you can pick and choose which songs to listen to, so my question is, does the order of these tracks matter all that much to you? Personally, I was disappointed Viva got off to a relatively slow start, so it's exciting to see Hurts Like Heaven (probably the most energetic track) as the one really kicking off MX. And to me, track 10 on any record is an important milestone, so here's hoping Princess of China is as epic as A Rush of Blood to the Head/Death and All His Friends :D
  7. 1. Mylo Xyloto 2. Hurts Like Heaven 3. Paradise 4. Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall 5. Up In Flames 6. Charlie Brown 7. Princess of China 8. Major Minus 9. Don't Let It Break Your Heart 10. Tomorrow Heard it here fiiirst.
  8. I think that's doable :P Just print it onto metal, cut it to the same size... Tricky, but doable :)
  9. I think it'll be download only. I don't think Viva La Vida came with a CD, so not inevitable, perhaps? And if you're suggesting a 9/11 link, rethink, there's already been a thread.
  10. Thanks for such positive feedback.
  11. I know it's obvious that we're all from different places, but it's amazing to see how far one band can really reach when we all have to get up at different times to hear the single. <3
  12. That's what I was trying to say. We can't relate to the Americans. We all think it's terrible but we don't bring it up. As for this as a whole thread, I think it's sad. We've had a fear culture since 9/11, and Coldplay make perhaps the most optimistic music of any band in the world. Revel in that. Revel in your freedom. Revel in the fact that the man who you wanted to catch has been caught, go out, enjoy your life and live for those who died. But don't keep bringing up 9/11, because if we don't move on, fear has won.
  13. I think a consensus in England is that however bad the 9/11 tragedy was, it's not our tragedy to still be mourning.
  14. LIVE COLDPLAYING CHAT DURING PARADISE RELEASE! (ADDED 12TH SEPTEMBER 2011) --------------------------------------------------- :D *Thread edited.*

I cried the other day at Death and All His Friends. But not in a sad way. In a positive way. It's just so beautiful.
  16. Could be Delibyah. Is Oracle a she then? :P
  17. I think Don't Let It Break Your Heart's a really good title. It's sort of intriguing; don't let what break your heart? And obviously, it's sad and weirdly positive at the same time, like Viva La Vida or ETIAW. I sort of imagine it a little like Gil Scott-Heron's I'll Take Care of U.
  18. If you pay for my fare to Cali, most definitely ;) Seriously though, if I'm ever in the area, I'll bring my paints :D
  19. Great Expectations I expect to be X&Y aping rubbish.
  20. I don't believe in any of them. I don't believe that you should rank music in order and say that one thing's "the best" when something else is completely different. By all means celebrate the beauty and diversity of music, but don't make it an exclusive competition.
  21. Grammy's is a waste of time anyway.
  22. I bought that guitar for £20. It's not the greatest-sounding thing, but it's not really meant to be for that price. I then superglued images on and painted the butterflies with a home-made stencil. Acrylic paints. Here are a couple more guitars I did in Muse and Oasis, and a microphone stand I made :)
  23. Really? I'd say a song that twists in and out of time signature but still has an instant likeability is fairly unique. There's nothing quite like Charlie Brown.
  24. Ahh thank you all! Means a lot :) Splintercell, my girlfriend keeps saying to do it online and get people to pay me to do it. If I start that, I shall let you know :)
