  1. I think the excessive simplicity of the lyrics is pissing people off. Chris does come up with good lyrics like Viva and even many of the lyrics of Mylo. Maybe, now that he has more free time he can come with an album with more complex lyrics. The melody need not be worried about.
  2. PS. Some new photos from this era since it has become so scarce.
  3. This is what I am saying. Maybe I am being a girlie girl and I have nothing against Alexa Chung, but if Chris does belong to someone its GP. There I said it. To each their own.
  4. I hope he doesn't date her.
  5. Review: Coldplay, Ghost Stories The Huffington Post http://www.huffingtonpost.com/judah-joseph/review-coldplay-ghost-sto_b_5327066.html Scheduled for American release by Atlantic Records on May 19, Coldplay's Ghost Stories is worlds away from their previous work. Ghost Stories is at once both a stripped-down experimental project and a progressive EDM album. With production credits to Paul Epworth, Rik Simpson, and Avicii, Coldplay has simultaneously honored the old and welcomed the new. The songs on this album are deep and airy, haunting and cheery, and typical and progressive. Ghost Stories sounds like an alternative direction Coldplay could have taken post-Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends in 2008, rather than the one the band chose with 2011's Mylo Xyloto. The album artwork of a medieval-styled white etching over a night sky and dark ocean lend the celestial quality to Ghost Stories that sets it apart from Coldplay's earlier work. Opening and closing with the same sort of angelic children's choir's sustained vocals, the album as a final product is delicately curated, each song serving a unique purpose. And with the hymnal mélange of vocals and synthesizers, "Always In My Head" adds steady percussion with long waves of relaxed guitar riffs. With an abrupt ending, "Always In My Head" leads directly into "Magic," the first single from Ghost Stories, originally released in March. With more pronounced percussion than before, Chris Martin's almost mournful voice fades in and out of cooing and calculated praise. "Magic" seems like a tribute of sorts to love and the sheer wonder of it all. Keeping in the theme of heavy percussion to lead a track, "Ink" surprises in just about every other way. Musically, this track is upbeat, but lyrically, it's pained. By incorporating female background vocals at parts in the song, Coldplay adds another dimension of depth to a song whose vocals could have very well been shallower. In addition, the band very successfully uses a sitar to introduce the Eastern musical element of raga, which substantially complexifies the song. "Midnight" was the second single to be released from Ghost Stories, co-written and co-produced by Jon Hopkins, the same collaborator whose influence created the ambient "Life In Technicolor" masterpieces on Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends. Distant, distorted, and difficult to understand, the vocals on this track are truly discomforting. About halfway through the track, the whole song shifts dramatically toward formulaic, fast-paced trance music. "Midnight" leaves you pleasantly confused, somewhere between wondering what you just listened to and glad you'd heard it. For a moment, you might be fooled by "A Sky Full of Stars." Its opening piano chords sound like an up-tempo rendition of A Rush of Blood to the Head's "Clocks." Very quickly, the song's influence from Avicii shines through. As Coldplay's third and final single before Ghost Stories' release, "A Sky Full of Stars" was surely a surprise to fans. Characteristic of EDM, the music is repetitive, the lyrics shallow. There's reverb and synthesized tambourine, but there's also acoustic guitar and Chris Martin's voice in falsetto. Initially, it's hard to call "A Sky Full of Stars" a typical "Coldplay song," but this single eventually proves itself to be an evolved version of the Coldplay archetype. At each refrain, you can imagine Chris Martin dancing in ecstasy on stage, arms flailing animatedly. Despite all the low-end frequency and heavy production, "A Sky Full of Stars" is surprisingly light and airy. As the song fades-out, flighty, ambient notes dominate the soundscape. "A Sky Full of Stars" is a song whose dynamism increases with every listen. Ghost Stories is undoubtedly a departure from the comfortable for Coldplay and for fans. The variety of songs on the album is vast, with songs about love and loss seemingly scattered all over the place. The bookended choral music acts as a soothing agent. An experimental concept album, Ghost Stories hints at another freshly-tapped side of Coldplay that will hopefully come forward in future projects, as well. Immensely diversifying Coldplay's catalogue, Ghost Stories is a beautiful piece of art manifested.
  6. 1.Rush Of Blood To The Head- I have heard this album too many times to recall but its so irresistible than I can't stop myself going back. It made Coldplay what it is today and mixes simplicity with grandiose in such a profound way. Lyrically, its is one of Chris' best works and is in itself a complete piece of Brilliant music. I cannot say much about it because I love it too much. 2.Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends- This is Coldplay at its most revolutionary and challenging. It questions the odds and the basics of todays society. The musical experience is varied and inspiring from african beats to very-unlike-Coldplay backgrounds, and the album stands as one of the best albums of modern times with or without the legacy of Coldplay attached to it. 3.Ghost Stories- It just released and is always probably going to be approached with care when talking about Coldplay, because it is Chris' break-up album. And the album itself is one of Coldplay strongest in terms of melody. It does have simple lyrics but the whole atmosphere it creates cannot help but move me. It is a homage to love-past, present and future. 4.Parachutes- Its a lovely sweet album of a group of young guys making nice music. Its in-offensive but a little too monotonous sometimes. There are lovely gems all over and is one of the strongest debut albums of modern times. Chris, I believe was still finding his trademark voice and sounds really emotional. 5.X&Y- This album has 'Fix You' which is brilliant mind you, and is one of the strongest collaborations between Chris and Jonny. The guitar is very strong in the album but as a whole it kind of sounds the same. It is very melodious but never makes me just sit up and get startled. I think the exceptions are 'Swallowed in the Sea' and 'Twisted Logic'. 6.Mylo Xyloto- I don't really like this album. 'Major Minus' kind of stands out for me and 'Moving on to Mars' from this era but else than that I can't define this era as positive. I think the perfect word for this album would be "too much". There are some nice lyrics but the huge-ness of it made me kind of shrink away from it.

This song is the best song of the album ....All your Friends is so good too! WHY !! OHHH WHY WERE THEY NOT INCLUDED IN THE NORMAL ALBUM TRACKLIST AND MADE BONUS TRACKS?????
  8. This album atfirst did not hit me...Maybe it was because the itunes stream wasn't buffering easily ...But now, I think this album is basically one of the most profound and honest piece of work Chris has ever written. I was basically sobbing through the whole thing...It hard not think of her when talking about this album because every song is just about her . Hope their relationship remains in whatever form they wish it. But I just want thank Coldplay for this album because it made me feel so much.

This is a really nice track...especially JOnny's solo in the end is so haunting!
  10. I really do not care how many radio stations play it...I don't like what the radio plays anyway. This album is probably not going to be liked by many ...But thats what coldplay wanted I guess. I think Chris made this album more for himself than anybody else. Making this album was his breathing space when his personal life was in ruins. I personally, love the album though I am not a huge fan of "Ink" ...else than that I love it...even A sky full of Stars...I doesn't matter if it is a hit or not. The lyrics are as true and honest as you can get. It almost sounds like we are peeping into Chris and Gwyneth's conversation. I think I make meaning of that weird Conscious Uncoupling thing better now. It will be part of their discography and I will cherish it as a part of my collection. PS> Some songs are amazing. I mean, find me a single melody in modern music as good as Oceans!
  11. On twitter... @caro_eleanor Guys I'm sorry but I just had drinks next to Chris Martin and Alexa Chung on a date and they talked about narwhals. That is all https://twitter.com/caro_eleanor/status/463912980933914624
  12. This thread got so funny and I was actually so sad after hearing the Zane Lowe interview. I guess they are kind of family, unlike other hollywood couples. Their relationship is in a place which has the "It's complicated" facebook status I think. Hope they make it through together.
  13. He is still kind of broken really...He seems to be in a very vulnerable state of mind...

I was waiting for this. Thanks for the official lyrics. This song is sad as hell. I hope he flies next to her someday! :(
  15. This song is going to be my favorite song ...I know it. It resonates with my life , my experiences and Chris' reaction just validates this for me.
  16. I saw this while browsing. I don't know if she is related to this website anymore but she was and is kind of an important person to Chris. So I'm posting. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-2615573/Gwyneth-Paltrow-sings-backing-vocals-Holly-Williams-Hollywoods-Roxy-Theatre.html
  17. Aww Chris ...I love when he dances and is all happy!
  18. This interview was very heartbreaking. I love Chris. He is so inspiring and is so sweet. The interview allowed us to get into Chris' head. He is allowing himself to be so vulnerable. It takes so much courage to do that. He loves his music and gives everything to that. I feel so sad for him. Hope everything goes well for him and them. He is still in pain, I just hope everything settles down for them whether they chose to be together someday or not. Chris needs someone though, I hope he gets something to hold on to.
  19. I just want to hear how he came up to writing these songs , but by the sounds of it every song seems to be personal in this album? I wonder what Gwyneth thinks if and when she listens to these songs...Chris is quite cool and I just hope both are happy. Whatever he decides to do , I just hope he doesn't talk about justin beiber and One Direction the whole hour to divert answers from his personal life. Talks about the songwriting process.
  20. The break-up itself got so hyped and reported upon , that no matter what Chris writes people will look into it and analyse it from that point of view. The album also seems to be very personal. And the thing I commend Chris Martin for is that he has managed to turn, from what we have heard so far his moment of great pain and sacrifice into a creative moment of great beauty and brilliance. The pain is very evident from all the songs but are exceptionally beautiful and has a kind of positivism. I don't care if it is critically acclaimed or wins Grammys (Bob Dylan has only 10 Grammys people, it doesn't matter), I just hope that this album makes Coldplay attain a new maturity and people like it.:)
  21. The trailer is sexy. Chris falling into the water....Ohh God!
  22. I think Moyes deserved a little bit more time but the Everton game sealed the deal, I think.
  23. teernabh5 replied to Tash's topic in Oceans
I think he said "I'm ready for it all love" ...didn't he?
  24. He already has a girlfriend? Wow...I thought there still was time.
  25. I find it hypocritical that they can be amicable enough to go on holiday together but cannot stay together for the kids, till they grow up. I know how horrible it is to have divorced parents. Its shitty and very sad.
