Radiohead
I read that too somewhere... possibly from Wikipedia if I recall correctly. It'll probably be as close to the truth as we'll ever get, given RH do not offer explanations or even speculate about the meaning of their work (music, artwork, album sleeves etc) - I guess we'll just have to be content with this explanation :)

- OH MY NO DVD?!?? Offical News from Coldplay.com via Debs!
Calm down guys... Quote: Debs Wild Webmaster Joined: 13 Feb 2004 Posts: 2125 Posted: Wed Aug 30, 2006 3:24 pm Post subject: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Have you seen the thread at the top of this page ?I'm unsure why you're celebrating a release date of something that's not happening you see. Anyway, sorry guys if you've missed it here, in other threads, news and Q&A but..... there's no DVD. Has it occurred to anyone that maybe Deb said all of this in response to the TV announcement i.e. she was wondering why everybody was getting tuned up for a DVD release when all that has been officially announced so far is a TV airing of the Toronto concert? If you look at it that way, then there is no need to get all angry and bothered coz all that Deb is saying is that she's surprised why we are celebrating / anticipating the release of a DVD when the announcement is for a TV screeing... Of course I can't say for sure this is what is really what Deb meant, but it sure could be that way. ANd a future DVD wouldn't be ruled out either. I sure hope that the DVD thing isn't permanently off their plans... But either way, cheers people - Radiohead
And you know what? I believe it would too... :laugh3: And don't be so sure that it won't actually be a good album. If anyone/any band can make a ground-breaking album of farts that actually sounds like music, the most likely answer we all know will be Radiohead - OH MY NO DVD?!?? Offical News from Coldplay.com via Debs!
Haha... Has it not occurred to anyone that even if they don't put the Toronto show on DVD that there are so many other gigs they could put together to make one? With all the footage they blow up unto the huge screens every night, does anyone seriously think there'll be a shortage of concert material? I bloody hope not!- Best non-Coldplay song today
Lauryn Hill - Doo Wop (That Thing)- Best non-Coldplay song today
Mansun - Wide Open Space- Radiohead
^ Coz they know everybody who's worth their musical salt knows Radiohead's freakin' amazing... And that no matter how badly they thrash Radiohead in their articles, it won't change people's opinions one little bit, and also what they write won't affect in the slightest whether the band think well enough of themselves to continue or not. But seriously, that aside I was quite shocked. I mean NME are not known for objective, profound or even revealing articles, but this one was... :o I'm speechless. Way up there in terms of the WTF??? scale- ripping videos from youtube
Well done Val - great step-by-step guide! I'm not sure about Riva (it doesn't seem to be able to convert the particular YouTube videos wanted to AVI format :( ), but you've just about hit the nail on Super. A few things to add... 1) Yes, choose DivX for 'Output Video Format' unless you're familiar with other formats. (*Note though: Windows Media Player requires the DivX codec to view DivX videos --> you may need to download a DivX codec. For a list of other WM player-compatible codecs, click here) 2) Taken from darkflux on a videohelp forum (hopefully this'll help us n00bs get started - I tried them myself and they work pretty well ;) )- for AVI: settings: Size-640x480 (or 320x240) Framerate-30 Bitrate-1000 Audio Bitrate-128 / 44100 for MPEG (ie if you're encoding into MPEG format): settings: Size-640x480 (you'll need to re-encode @ 720x480 later) Framerate-29.97 Bitrate-2000 Audio Bitrate-128 / 44100 My personal note on the screen size conversion (ie video setting) - I selected 'no change' (rather than 640x480) when encoding to AVI, the reason being I see no point taking up more disc space than required when the original video quality's not that good. As I play my AVI files on the Windows Media Player / DivX player, the screen size can be switched to full-screen whenever I want and unconvertible screen size is never an issue :)- Radiohead
I'd almost forgotten I had the songs - didn't know they were the HTTT b-sides... Thanks for reminding me that they existed :nice: I didn't like these songs back when I first downloaded them :P I certainly appreciate them much more now and will be listening to them more often. Some of the songs still make my skin crawl! :o- Radiohead
^ Agrees. As for NME, what happened to Idioteque? :o And There There + High & Dry deserve to be much higher up I think.- Radiohead
^ Alright, not wife... But c'mon, I don't see him leaving her for anybody else.- Radiohead
Are you kidding? "Yorke currently lives in central Oxford with his partner, Rachel Owen, a printmaker who holds a doctorate in art history, and their two children, Noah, born in 2001 (to whom the Radiohead album Amnesiac was dedicated) and Agnes, born 2004 (to whom Yorke dedicated The Eraser)." Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thom_Yorke) He's got a wife and 2 kids already lol - Radiohead
It did look too good to be true, but is it fake really? I haven't paid too much attention to the details, I mean just seeing what Jonny was doing blew me away :laugh3: Does anyone know more about the performance e.g. the story behind it etc?- Radiohead
And yeah, who-ever doesn't have this just has gotta check it out!!! It's them playing "Just" back in 1996 - Jonny's playing guitar with his other hand, AND while blindfolded as well! :shocked2: He is such a Guitar God (and multitalented instrumentalist) - I wish I had half his talent with music...- Radiohead
Well Jonny's hair still hasn't changed much :laugh3: But OMG was I shocked when I saw your first pic of Thom, dajrekshn :o !- ripping videos from youtube
In the little ("Save File As") box that pops up when you're saving a file, under "file name", type in the name, followed by ".flv" e.g. "Square One.flv" (instead of just Square One). Alternatively if you've forgotten, don't worry - just rename the file with the ".flv" added behind it after saving :D -------- A few other tips - 1) At the riva.dx website in step 2, make sure you download the right programme - Riva FLV Encoder towards the bottom of the page (and not the Riva Producer Lite). 2) To decode to MPEG or AVI, you need a programme called 'Super' to enable the Riva Encoder to decode to these formats. Alternatively, if you don't mind the flv format, you can play the videos straight in the Riva player (which is d'loaded automatically as part of the Riva FLV Encoder) without converting - saves people who're not so handy with computers the hassle of playing around with all this techy stuff :) - Just thought I'd share some of my experiences :D And thanks Nik & Dave for your help, real useful stuff :)- Star Wars vs. LOTR
Not a nice thing to do, but I second that! :laugh3: :P- Radiohead

A bit off topic, but can anyone tell me whether it's possible to download YouTube videos? It's just so annoying that I have to go online each time I want to watch one... - OH MY NO DVD?!?? Offical News from Coldplay.com via Debs!
