  2. gentleparachute replied to a post in a topic in Coldplay Games
Argh... tough! I'd have to say 'Don't Panic' Fix You or The Scientist
  3. Good luck everyone :) Keeping my fingers crossed for all you guys back home!
  4. gentleparachute replied to a post in a topic in Coldplay Games
Sleeping Sun 1.36 or I Ran Away
  5. ^ So what's the next one? ;) I'll start... "you're not just anyone"
  6. Thank you so much!!!
  7. And since a proportion of us here are into Bush bashing, here's a link that'll get your day moving... It sure made me laugh http://www.planetdan.net/pics/misc/georgie.htm Apparently it's the most popular screensaver in the US. Hmm... I wonder what that implies  HINT: If he gets stuck, move him with your cursor... He can even be thrown around (I sure found that therapeutic... though the reasons behind this reaction are somewhat disturbing )
  8. Twisted Logic "what could it possibly be"
  9. gentleparachute replied to a post in a topic in Coldplay Games
Brothers and Sisters (the quieter version) Careful Where You Stand or 1.36
  10. Tis true... At least in the parts of the world where I come from. Clinton might have had a big no-no personally, but both of them are recognised and respected as top-notch statesmen. Colin Powell as well - at least until he got himself entangled in the Bush Administrations web of unintelligeble lies. Bush Jr. on the other hand... Frankly, I've never seen or heard a worst elected national leader in a functioning democracy in my life (all other past Prezzies / PMs throughout history included). I'd be ashamed to have him as my prime minister!
  11. Wow that's sooo cool. Nice to hear they're visiting that area. Too bad they're not dropping in to KL :( Good luck with your tix :D
  12. Glad you've got a couple more RH albums Julia, they're great aren't they? So stimulating to hear... :D I know I should post this in the Muse thread but I'm too lazy to keep up, so could any long-time fans recommend one or two Muse albums I could start off with? First heard them @ Live8 and haven't been able to shake them off since! Their sound's good and they really rock
  13. Hey that's optimistic already... Some music sources are predicting next year!!! :o Now that, would be long.
  14. ^^ Why do you always hit it on the money? :laugh4: Semi-normal... Hmmm, I s'pose Moses is better than Mortimer (as the Channel 7 Sunrise Team [Australian TV channel breakfast show] quipped). And Apple's a pretty hard name to beat   Neways, it is a good name, especially a song your father wrote for your mother... How sweet. I was so surprised when I heard heard the news on TV this morning. Glad everyone's happy :D
  15. ^^ That's bureaucracy my friend, loads and loads of it. While others call that negotiating
  16. Just did a little research on the song... Youth Group did a cover actually. An '80s German band called Alphaville were the original singers and their version is featured on the OST for the film Napoleon Dynamite :) I just bought the single (Youth Group's version) over the weekend and uploaded it as a small treat for you guys :D http://rapidshare.de/files/17623187/01_Forever_Young.wma.html It's the full-length version and ripped in WMA lossless format (192 kbps) so it's a pretty huge file i.e. 29 MB. I'm planning to re-rip it in a smaller file size for uploading into my e-mail account... so anyone who wants a smaller file can PM me with their e-mail and I"ll send it on :)
  17. I seriously hope (to whoever's or whatever's up there) that there was no internal conspiracy, no cover-up... that the events of 9/11 were not self-inflicted. I would find it very hard to accept that a western government / organisation would knowingly and deliberately allow the loss of 3,000 lives on its own soil just for the sake of pinning the blame elsewhere and getting public support to start a war. However if I did have to come up with a conspiracy theory, it'd be the Bush government using this crime against humanity to distract the American public from how incompetent he (and the administration he leads) really is rather than as a direct excuse to invade the Middle East per se.
  18. What song Bonnie? If it's about Forever Young then thanks but I already have it... I've bought the single @ HMV, over the weekend, yippeee!!!!! It sounds soooo goood, and I've played it like 12 times in a row!!! :o (I'm just deliriously happy to finally have this song) :D Oh, and I just totally lurve the music video (now that'd be cool to have *hint hint* :wink3: ) Any other song, I'd be happy to have *starts getting excited* And yes Bonita, thanks for asking... Aussieland is one of the best countries in the world (not that I've been to that many )! Be happy and proud to live in it! Though at times I have to admit you guys can occasionally border on loopy  and be a touch too self-absorbed in your own affairs and forget that any place else exists in this world ... But it's all going great. Loving the people, the weather, and especially the life-style... And I'm glad to say that I'm finally enjoying my studies, which wasn't the case earlier back home... Just lovely all round :D Val how're you? Thanks for welcoming me back... No worries about the e-mailing, I've been equally negligent... We've a lot of catching up to do, don't we? How's your cartography getting on?
  19. Can Utd win it? It's looking unlikely although if any team can catch up with the Blues Man U can. We're the only team around with enough quality (and more importantly character) to have a chance of pulling this off :smug: Four points with six games to go is not too much although since we're talking Chelsea here it's going to be a formidable task. I wouldn't bet against it :sneaky:
  20. I never knew Thom worked in a mental institution before... It was a shocker to browse through this thread and find out that he did :o. Going through my course right now and getting a chance to come into contact with some patients in hospital with mental illness, and also finally seeing the lyrics... It's amazing how much the words and style are reminiscent of the various mental disorders and how much HTTT could've been influenced by Thom's experience working with mentally ill people. A prime example is "A Wolf At The Door". ------ A Wolf At The Door drag him out the window dragging out your dead singing i miss you snakes and ladders flip the lid out pops the cracker <---- 'flight of ideas' and typical 'clang associations' of mania smacks you in the head knifes you in the neck kicks you in the teeth steel toe caps takes all your credit cards step up get the gunge <--- The way he sings this section demonstrates "pressure of speech" in manic people get the eggs get the flan in the face the flan in the face the flan in the face dance you fucker dance you fucker don't you dare don't you dare don't you flan in the face <---- repetitive 'verbal stereotypies' take it with the love its given take it with a pinch of salt take it to the taxman let me back let me back i promise to be good <---- more 'flight of ideas' and 'clang associations' don't look in the mirror at the face you don't recognize help me call the doctor <--- 'loosening of associations' in schizophrenia / severe psychiatric disorder put me inside put me inside put me inside put me inside put me inside i keep the wolf from the door but he calls me up calls me on the phone tells me all the ways that he's gonna mess me up steal all my children if i don't pay the ransom but i'll never see him again if i squeal to the cops <---- taken literally, this part demonstrates paranoid delusions typical of schizophrenia walking like a giant crane and with my x ray eyes i strip you naked in a tight little world and are you on the list? stepford wives who are we to complain? <--- 'loosening of associations' again investments and dealers investments and dealers cold wives and mistresses. cold wives and sunday papers. --------- It's chilling to realise how closely the songs mirror typical abnormal psychiatric symptoms and this has given me a whole new dimension in looking at the their music and the way I listen to it, esp. HTTT. Now I know where all the depths of their darkness come from. An upside is that I now have a more fun / interesting way of studying psychiatry :D
  21. ^ Wow, good on ya! I'll be going to the Brisbane one too on the 23rd (hopefully)... I'm sure it'll be a great show. And you're going to four!!! I'm jealous  :nice:
  22. ^ Yeah, I don't care all that much either. I've learnt Radiohead are one of those rare bands where albums = amazingly good music no matter what. (How I wish I could say I'm as sure about it for CP now ) How could you even think of the possibility the new album won't be good??? That's like imagining the day George W Bush stops mucking things up and starts makes peace on earth :shocked2: Near impossible. I'll give up music and go kill myself the day a bad Radiohead album comes out (coz life would scarcely be worth living without good music and Radiohead are the best)
  23. Hmm... I never thought of it that way. I thought the OKC comparison was more in terms of a big step forward or a leap... i.e. the progress they showed from the Bends to OKC was a big jump (unlike say OKC to Kid A which was in a totally different direction), so I think maybe Thom's preparing us for huge step forward post-HTTT? :) --------- As for fav B-side, haven't heard that many, but yeah Talk Show Host rates right up there... It's so good and sounds so much like typical mainstream Radiohead that when I first heard it on their Glasto 2003 performance, I thought it must've been an A-side  (Btw, that was the only b-side they performed at the gig)
  24. :o Wooohooo!!!!! Scandalous  Nice one Nik - how.... appropriate :D
  25. *Edit* Just removed a post requesting Forever Young by Youth Group (OC version). I've got it now (just bought the single over the weekend woohoo!!!)... whoever wants feel free to PM me :)
