  1. Coldplay + King Kong = But actually, it's a great idea, if they can somehow get it to make sense :idea2: Can't wait, so many big fantasy movies out lately... Harry Potter, Chronicles of Narnia, King Kong... :D
  2. Yeah, all the poor people who're huge fans of multiple bands... I think I'd die of stress just keeping track of so many. As it is, I can't even keep up with Coldplay  It's better this way... I'm a one-band gal :D
  3. Woot? :o You sure you're listening to the same thing the rest of us are listening to? It's brilliant! One of the top albums of the year... How could you call it the worst album of 2005?
  4. Mine was Bigger Stronger! Oops ya... Wasn't paying enough attention :embarrased: And Steve, yep it's Everybody's Happy Nowadays
  5. Just sent the rar file to victaniac... I'm sure she'll upload for you guys in a bit ;)
  6. I agree it doens't grab at you but I think it's quite meaningful (though I dunno what the song itself's about :D)... When was the last time anyone actually saw a music video about a bunch of people older than 60?
  7. one can like coldplay and not U2, for example i love coldplay but think U2 are highly overrated  just one of those things, opinions differ Sure you can like one and not like the other... But with X&Y, I find it hard to comprehend that people who like this album do not appreciate at least some of U2's work... I mean the influence is sooo there.
  8. Square One "... but I don't know, what it is..."
  9. Hey you guys, I just realised I have the whole X&Y album in one big rar file of about 50MB... I'd upload it right now but unfortunately my uni's servers don't allow uploading to filesharing sites.... Anybody care to get it from me (I"ll dropload it off) to upload on rapidshare or whatever for the rest? E-mails please :D
  10. I agree. Objectively speaking, X&Y is far from the worst album (a lot of the people who bashed it still list it as one of the top 10 albums of the year, me included). As for the worst album, have a pick from the multitudes of pop trash making the rounds out there...
  11. Haha Bonita that makes two of us... I like U2 but don't know enough of their songs to be obsessive yet  *high fives* And all you Australian U2 fans who got tickets... Congrats! Hope u guys get great concerts :D
  12. The part that I really like is this squeak at 4:27 in Fix You  I don't really know what it is, but my suspicions are it's the pedal from the pump organ Chris is playing... Anybody? :D
  13. Thanks for the link... Lovely sound - four and a half minutes of pure heaven :pleased: :D
  14. U2's how to dismantle an atomic bomb is also from 2004.
  15. ^^ Yes... great one. Husband and wife
  16. Val, you're welcome :snore:
  17. Well, I will agree your current one's pretty cool... The others? :/  Sorry, but can't say I liked the previous ones. But you're cool ok
  18. ^ Actually, is there a video or something of how Chris ends up lying between Jonny's two legs? I've been squeezing my head out trying to figure out how he did it
  19. Thanks an_cat for telling me what's going on. I 'visited' his hate thread yesterday, thought of asking him a question but decided (like you iriden) that it's better to leave it to die  It's weird actually, how someone who loves Coldplay so much can actually hate U2 that much at the same time... I mean it's so  They're quite alike in so many ways, and the things that're good about Coldplay can be found in U2 as well. To me it's like you can't like one band without liking the other (well, ok maybe u could not like Coldplay coz they came later than U2 and arguably possibly copied them, but I pretty much thought it was impossible the other way round )
  20. Thanks for the info @ Camu & RA-D :)
  21. *EDIT (final- 13/12/2005): 1) Sufjan Stevens - Illinois 2) Coldplay - X&Y 3) Doves - Some Cities 4) Bloc Party - Silent Alarm 5) James Blunt - Back To Bedlam 6) Foo Fighters - In Your Honor (Disc 2 :P) 7) Bruce Springsteen - Devils & Dust 8) Jamiroquai - Dynamite 9) The Killers - Hot Fuss 10)Starsailor - On the Outside Bigger releases of note / by noteworthy bands not yet heard this year :( --> Sigur Ros, Beck, Super Furry Animals, Turin Brakes, The Decemberists, Paul McCartney
  22. It is different, it is interesting... But emotionally - zilch. I dunno why, the thing that has bothered me about X&Y since the start is that it is nowhere near as moving as their earlier work. The song 'Talk' itself is probably as near moving as it has got for me. And I did hope (actually I was quite sure) that the band would latch on to that when making the video. How wrong I was. I dunno, it's very artistic and all, and shows us a new perspective from which to view the band, but for me, it lacks that one thing that would have made it really special... It's the same complaint that has marred my enjoyment of X&Y since I first heard it. That is, where oh where has the heart gone?
