  1. Some thing's that've been said... a) overproduced (blame the producer? ) b) Too much of the same old thing dressed up in a bigger sound c) lousy lyrics d) band members have personalities that're too tame :P (wrong answer... Next!) e) nothing really grabs you right away like it used to in Parachutes & AROBTTH f) sounds too much like too many other people (e.g. Radiohead, grandaddy, Kate Bush, and I guess half the artistes found in the whole universe  ) g) Chris whines too much, Jon sounds too much like the Edge, Guy & Will are too unremarkable to be criticised...   *looks evil* :wink3:
  2. Deftones
  3. Hey an_cat and coldplay_steph, chill ok? Let me give ya some  :) Sorry if some of us here (including me) ever said anything that upset you so much... I mean I get it now why you're upset that some fans here criticise / comment on how the band can/should do/improve... I mean loving the band so much and not being able to show it especially to 'friends' in school and then having to face more criticism here at the boards where all the 'real fans' :P are, I guess that can make you sick of it all... And just wanna run away to some place where everything's fine (kinda like the place described in Don't Panic... We live in a beautiful world) huh? Sorry if we make you feel like u wanna explode. But let me describe how a section of us fans here who tend to 'criticise' / 'be negative' about Coldplay feel... I think for us, music is personal and we feel that the band are inspirational... so much so that we don't care if we're labeled uncool if we like Coldplay (most of us figure we're uncool anyway). Also, for some of us, back where we come from, Coldplay are so far off the radar that it isn't even uncool to like them... It's like 'Coldplay who???'.. We're just so happy if anybody's even heard of them, let alone like them, and I guess anybody we meet who's heard of 'em generally is a fan... So for people like us, almost everybody on this board is a fan... So we've never really felt victimised for being a fan... No one comes up and eggs us 'Haha, wot? You're a fan? Loser... ' So, people like us have never felt defensive (nor felt a need to be defensive) about supporting / being a fan of Coldplay. To us, we just comment and react to what we perceive about the band without giving it a second thought coz I guess we just didn't realise there are actually people out there (or here actually :P) who've been 'persecuted' for liking Coldplay... Sorry then, if sometimes what some of us say/express sounds too negative / harsh for you to bear... We're commenting on the band and not criticising your choice in music at all. Also, just because some of us don't like / think certain parts of their songs/albums/way they do things could be better, doesn't mean we don't like / appreciate the band / are not fans... We are here, after all. And I guess we got very high hopes for the band (more than others bands coz Coldplay are special ;) )... And inevitably some of us think they could do better, and say so... We are humans after all, with feelings and opinions  So don't take it personally ok, coz we're not having a go at fans like you... We're just expressing something that we hope some of the other fans on here share too. You got a right to like the music that you do without people booing you for it... And different people have got different reasons for liking something so it's only natural that views differ. Oh, and for all it's worth... I know it can be hard when all the people around you are mindless idiots who don't know what good music is, but those 'friends' who ostracise / make fun of you for liking Coldplay (or whatever else that goes under the heading of personal preferences)... Ditch them. They're not worth your time and energy. You're much better off with Coldplay fans and the people here... We may criticise aspects of Coldplay now and then, but we'd never seriously laugh at you / make you feel bad about liking the music/bands that you choose (be they Coldplay or not). And most of us still support/have hope for the band no matter what we say anyway... So have heart, ok? To most of us here at the boards, Coldplay are THE band. Keep The Coldplay Pride Alive? :wink3:  :D
  4. You people...
  5. ^ Erm... Nope. But, it is different definitely... Love Chris' voice in there :smug:
  6. Mark, it's Ai Ling... as in I (i.e. the I of I, you, we, they, he, she, it...) It's been great trading to-and-fros with you today too. I'll throw u a few more BSB surprises the next time, eh? Can't wait to wind you up :wink3: Til then, buh bye :)
  7. Ai aye?? :P See, that's why I don't introduce myself too often in here... All the sniggers  But hey, it's ok... no worries. I've been called "Ai" often enough online. Ai it is then, I'll answer to that :)
  8. I know... I get that all the time nowadays  Didn't quite realise it until I got my email addys... They all have ailing_xxx  No wonder my online surveys weren't too successful... They were directed to ailing_research@xxxx Now who would want to participate in that???
  9. Bonnie, it's been nice talking to you today... But sorry, gotta go home from uni now... Go grab me a bite of dinner... Chat another day :nice:
  10. Sorry, mine's Ai Ling. Haven't figured out a western one for myself yet... Care to get me one? :sneaky: It's alright if you find it a bit weird to write out (u can call me anyfin u like)... I keep feeling my name looks out of place on the boards here :D
  11. Hyerllo. Saying hi to a ManC... *static* Hello, hello. Come in please... Earth to the blue side of Manchester... Anybody home? Haha :P :D Just glad you have a thread named after you now
  12. Aaron! Aaron! Aaron! Is there an official fanclub I could join? :P Haha kidding. But you definitely deserve a thread bearing your name :D Love reading your posts, esp those on the music :)
  13. Can I butt in? Don't know you personally but've seen you around... Used to come in here so often :) Happy birthday Hayley :juggle: :jester:
  14. Well, let's try positive psychology for once. Albie's a nice guy :D
  15. Aww... Thanks Bonnie. It's exciting... Can't believe it's still nearly nine months away, that's so long to wait :o Tell us when u get tix for the third show *nudge nudge* mc_squared, you're hilarious  That's Chris inside there "You will come to all three of our shows..." :P
  16. ^ MTV it is then. I'd agree. It may not be fair to place the blame squarely on them, but my country's changed so much since the five years or so that satelite TV was introduced. People are so image conscious now :( And the MTV culture is just all over the place! The sad thing is, people don't seem to realise how their views have been influenced by something as superficial as MTV.
  17. Well, Coldplay do have a thing about bringing out the dark side in people :wink3:
  18. ^ Good for you. But for people who DON'T want to move on just yet... Why can't we be left in peace to say whatever... I mean, all you gotta do is just not click on this thread  Hope you enjoy X&Y
  19. Have a theory on who brainwashed them? That person/organisation would be one of the most powerful in the world
  20. ^ Sorry... Not an Elvis fan so can't spell his name properly (I'm too young anyway :P)... Trust me on the BSB. Did you click the links? Hard to believe innit? Well now I'll rub it in - assuming the same people bought all four BSB albums i.e. 80 million divided by four, 20 million people can't be wrong, can they? (just couldn't resist  )
  21. Wrong. http://www.classicbands.com/bestsellers.html and http://www.infoplease.com/ipea/A0151020.html They say the biggest-selling albums in America alone was The Eagle's greatest hits at 28 million followed by MJ's thriller (26 million). BSB's Backstreet Boys and Millennium each outsold that 11 million already in the US alone. Ok... Sorry I didn't get my facts straight... It wasn't 80 million. It was 75 million... <-- Btw, I meant 80 million in total (just as a one-liner), not for any one album. According to Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Backstreet_Boys "The Backstreet Boys are among the top-selling artists in the SoundScan era. They have sold over 40 million albums in the U.S. alone and 75 million worldwide", making them the oh, 75th best-selling artist of all time according to Wikipedia  (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_best-selling_music_artists) FYI, the biggest selling artists are supposed to be who else but the Beatles and Elvis Priestley, both over 1 billion albums each. :o Btw, for the fans, Coldplay are #277 on the list at 20 million in total worldwide, tied with the likes of Jimi Hendrix, Outkast, Spandau Ballet, Hootie and the Blowfish, Shania Twain (sorry mc_squared- Rick right?) and Greenday (would you know it ) among others
