"make poverty history" ads banned
^^ I think Ofcom thinks (with or without external pressure) that because the ads imply that world poverty is preventable if the government does something (even if it's indirectly - by letting the government know through the people voicing discontent) that it's political... i.e. the NGOs are being anti-government. As for ammending the law, I suppose some politician/parliamentarian will have to take that up... Fat chance though that they will :dozey: Maybe they should just ban political parties from the airwaves and allow others e.g. NGOs to voice their views, political or not... After all, freedom of expression???

the Backstreet Boys thread!!
Do not mistake showmanship with lack of talent :D Coldplay have also started to use some pyrotechnics for this tour and are more lively on stage e.g. bounding around on stage, showing-off their guitar skills more. So by your reckoning, does that mean their talent is less now?   Alternatively of course, is that Coldplay have learnt new skills and explored new areas to become better performers now :)

Coldplay's Next Single - Talk - 7" vinyl

Coldplay Quotes
Actually, I think he may need to learn how to relax more... Of course it ain't easy with his kind of personality but I think some stress management (e.g. how to develop thicker skin ) would help. Of course but then, he wouldn't be the sensitive Chris Martin that we love anymore :( People like him and singing extensively on tour just don't go... They may just need to do less shows

Cokemachineglow X&Y review (not for the faint-hearted)..

GW ain't throwing a left hook coz he don't need one. Sorry, but I don't think you can meaningfully compare GW/the US's situation with the 3rd world situation because the latter lack the power to change their lot and also have a lot less bargaining power than the US. I think the relationship is more akin to parents vs adolescent kids whereby the US would be the 'parents' whereas 3rd world countries would be the 'adolescents'... Therefore wouldn't you say that them terrorists (who feel they've no other way of showing their displeasure/making themselves heard) acting like tantrumic kids would be perfectly natural? Speaking of which, GW sure sounded like one kicking screaming kid when right after 9/11 he announced war on Afghanistan (& the War on Terror) to ferret out Osama and started bombing the country. You can't compare terrorists' 'politics' on the same field coz the field they're playing on ain't fair in the first place. I'm not saying that all terrorists can/should be bargained with, but the situation might be different if there was a more level playing field for the 'jihadists'. I say Bush made things worse because instead of leveling the playing field and seeking reconciliation like what Clinton at least appeared to be doing, he actively sought to increase the disparity and discord between the rich and the poor (more specifically the middle-eastern countries), and never cared who he antagonised with his words and actions. Nice words, but they don't apply. Regardless who is president of our country - when foreign nations needed help and $, we're there regardless of who's in office. That did not change with Bush. Because we don't pimp our sovereignty like a cheap hooker doesn't make us "narcissistic & egocetric" - it makes us smart. Just to let you know- yes, your country does dole out help and $$ when foreign countries need it, but it comes with strings attached- a lot of it NOT stated in black and white. Offend your country, and the receiving nations get f*cked e.g. most commonly there are threats to stop funding. What kind of power maneuvering is that? Sure, nothing's for free in this world and we should all grow up but please do not kid yourself that the good ol' US of A is some benign benevolent nation that helps other nations just because they need it. Because of your size and awesome power, very often your country tramples others just by simply taking care of its own interests (which u could argue is fair, but then it still leaves other people flattened without recourse and aggrieved as well). As for 'pimping out your sovereignity like some cheap hooker', you need to explain it for me coz I don't get that phrase  Nothing up... That's just my country's flag :D . And mind you, before u think I'm some Islamic fundamentalist trumpeting jihad, I'll have you know that 1) I'm not a muslim (though I live in a country where Islam is the "official religion" - whatever that means  ) 2) I'm of Chinese ethnicity. Oh, and it's called Malaysia (sarcasm intended but no offence meant :) ).

September 11
^ Sorry I can't put this any other way, but I do think 9/11 does have quite a bit to do with politics... More specifically, how America runs her politics/policies. Its attitude towards other nations (especially since Clinton left office) is narcissistic & egocentric, and certainly incites a lot of hate and despair. That 9/11 was a terrorist event that killed 3,000 innocents is not in dispute, but I do think that this event happening was not inevitable. I will never forget that morning when I woke up, switched on the radio still sleepy-eyed, shook my head and thought the two djs had finally over-stepped the line with their bad joke of the day, only to discover to my horror that the 'joke' actually happened. I was so sad then, and still am very sad about it now. BritRock Lover, I know how you feel, about how this was so gonna happen, that it could've been helped if only people would wake up, and about feeling depressed over it. I've never reached the point of becoming suicidal because of this, but I do know how you feel and how it very much hurts. I can only tell you to take things a bit easier and lower your expectations, both on yourself and on the world--> not because you don't care about the state of the world nor because people do not have to be accountable, but simply for your own sake, to keep yourself sane and alive until you learn to handle things like this better (as you surely will then when you're older).

Coldplay Quotes
I think it may have something to do with stress. People tend to lose their voices when they're stressed out, e.g. from overwork. The boys need to take it a bit easier, though they wanna work as hard as they can- the body can only take so much.

House, M.D. (Spoilers!)
I like it a lot... Unforch it comes on half an hour before Desperate Housewives (on another channel), which I was already following before House started... Absolutely love the black humour and attitude though, it rocks! :P

The importance of being Beckham
OMG... How are these people gonna justify their actions to the people whose funding was cut because of idiotic events like this in the first place! Discussing the cultural relevance/influence of Beckham is fine, but three whole days devoted to him??? The world's turned upside down...

Yeah I know, I used to watch them dance. Lord, those moves! Smooth and original... So many classics, fills me with nostalgia :D

Coldplay's Next Single - Talk - 7" vinyl
Probably coz it's for her ears (insiders) only... The boys probably don't intend for the public (that's us   ) to hear it

A letter from Michael Moore
I'm just happy Bush cannot get re-elected. I prefer the democrats, but at this stage, I don't even care if a republican becomes the next president, I might even be happy as long as he doesn't turn out to be another Bush. Heck, I just want to see Bush step off the world stage, he's already created more mess in this world than I ever thought possible for a man (short of becoming the next Hitler).
