Coldplay just posted this on Tumblr. This is the first official link between them and the poster, right?

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
"The last record was so depressing because it was about Chris' split from Gwyneth Paltrow," a source told Sky News. "But the new material is more upbeat with a pop feel." "They have already finished eight tracks, which are all completely different." Could this reflect Chris Martin's brief fling with actress Jennifer Lawrence? -via Youth Health

This makes me wonder...who is travelling all over the place putting up these 'super secret' marketing posters? Is it the record label? I imagine it is.

Well unfortunately, I only added the Coldplay comment... so unless other Tumblr users use the Coldplay tag- it's just people seeing everything before the Coldplay reply.

Ain't that the damned truth. But as the great philosopher Tay Tay once said .. "Haters gonna hate, and I'm just gonna shake.."

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
Well, it's a coincidence if you think it's a marketing strategy. But it's not a coincidence if you consider Waterloo station to be a very popular place, especially with bands that travel in that area like bands like Coldplay and U2.

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
Well, I am hoping for another Ghost Stories like album. It's just an album made for ..this sorta type of intimate experience. Not since Parachutes do I remember Coldplay really doing that in an album. And ever since AROBTTH Coldplay has been trying to be an arena band. It was just good for them to change the feel. I hope for another since they have enough arena songs. But I do think this album will be ...sorta a mix of Ghost Stories..and Mylo Xyloto. That's my guess.

Well hopefully the other songs will be better than that god-awful first single by Elle.

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
My thoughts are that...the album will be a Ghost Stories 2- sorta. Amazing Day sounds like it'd fit right in on Ghost Stories. Like they've really been into minimalism again. On GS- electronic minimalism. Though, Amazing Day isn't electronic- but neither was it's most-sounding sound- Always In My Head. So I think the odds are pretty good... And that xylophone bit is going to sound amazing in the completed song.

Well, I loved Ghost Stories...and I love the build up to ASFOS. Though, I just don't want to see a continued path of Coldplay and EDM. I thought dabbling in it was good though. The Beatles dabbled in a lot of different styles too. And as far as AHFOD being number 1- I hope the band isn't concerned with sales point commerce crap. That's the ugly side of the music business. I don't want Coldplay thinking about selling a product. I want them thinking about making art.

What's the name of the song?

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
In My Place is number one first single for me. I personally am not a fan of ETIAW. Just...no. I would say number 2 is a tie between Violet Hill and Magic. I've never been a fan of VLV the album- and there's only 2 songs I listen to (though they're very good songs) which are Violet Hill and Lost. I like 'comfort zone' Coldplay. Haha. When Coldplay starts being too experimental- I get worried. So when I first heard Midnight- I liked it, but I didn't like it...for Coldplay. It worried me that the whole album would have a lot of songs without choruses, sorta like VLV. But when I heard Magic, all was well in the Coldplay-universe ..to me.

The amount of freak out on these pages = hilarious. Well, an album that sounds like Miracles... I'm happy. :)

Rank Coldplay's albums
My ranking 1. AROBTTH 2. Parachutes 3. X&Y 4. Ghost Stories 5. Mylo Xyloto 6. Viva I'm so surprised to see GS so far down on people's list- and Viva so high up on people's lists. Though, I guess maybe there's elements I like in Coldplay, others don't. It's interesting to compare though.

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
Hey, I'm gonna just say that, I, like a lot of people on this forum, don't come here very much. It's usually in the month or two leading up to an album release. But it's really kinda exciting and fun ..connecting with that shared anticipation with others. We all do this differently and that's what this thread is about. Some use this anticipation by finding out where Chris's actual location is. Or any little news on the band's whereabouts. Some use this anticipation to have deep meaningful/enlightening discussions on what great band or album compares to another great band and/or album. It's all good. :)

Here's why I disagree on the fact that Radiohead is better than Coldplay. I'm a musician myself- and early on I was making very 'Radiohead-like' sounds, textures, etc.. Now before I go any further, I'll just say...I'm not as good as Radiohead, by FAR. But many Radiohead fans on Twitter did like my music, etc.. But it's easier for me to create ..layers of textured sound, like a band such as Radiohead or NIN would do. But what I couldn't do was just have one piano track ...and make a simple melody with simple haunting vocals- clean vocals. Coldplay almost, and to me I think is one of their biggest missions ..is to go back to the era of Parachutes and AROBTTH and be able to do- is be SIMPLE and melodic...and heart wrenching. Because Radiohead can be heart wrenching too, but not in the same ...pound for pound- simple - one piano track/clean vocals..not drowned in reverb- kinda simple. In fact, I think that's why they started working with Jon Hopkins. That guy did the opposite of what Coldplay did- he's all texture. And I have known Coldplay to try their hand at textured songs- lots going on...like some songs off of VLV. But to me- I can tell it's not their strong suite.

Radiohead v Coldplay
I wouldn't say that Radiohead is a better band. But Radiohead is an art band. And Coldplay, I love them, but they've never been an art band. They follow too close to the pop formula. They don't mess with around with the thin line of noise and music like art bands, like NIN or Radiohead..or Pink Floyd. Now do I think that Coldplay is just a more simple band that can't do that? No. Not at all. I think Coldplay chooses to make music to the pop crowd but they could go the art rock way too- but studio-heads and the people whispering into their ears..would be very upset about this. Coldplay basically has shareholders. They're their own economy. Really. And it takes a very ..up yours ..attitude to start saying..."you know...we're gonna make music that a lot of people aren't probably going to like". I don't think Coldplay has the art-rock attitude, but not that they couldn't.. go that route. Look at Moving To Mars.

In the spirit of not talking about way- too detailed monetary percentages of the band- I suggest everyone spend a couple of hours watching the movie Rudderless. It's got some good music in it. :)

I like it. I love the percussion and bass. But it feels a bit empty. I wish it'd have thom's vocals. :(

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
We definitely think differently. For me- X&Y and Viva La Vida were disappointments. Mainly VLV, because X&Y became, to me, an awesome album later on. But really the thing with Coldplay albums with me is- There's two types- those of AROBTTH and Parachutes- then all those after. And X&Y I found so disappointing after an album like AROBTTH. But after I got used to new Coldplay, it's held it's own. Every album to me after AROBTTH has something missing though. But we do agree that Ghost Stories was great. To me, it's my favorite album since X&Y- and probably tied with it. Because my favorite part of Coldplay is their simplicity. I don't like their...huge arrangements, normally. Though the live version of Death And All His Friends....woah! Chris brought the swagger for that one.

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
I can't believe I'm hearing so much hate on Miracles. That song...where do I begin. I feel that one thing Coldplay has lost...is swagger. And that's vague, so let me put it another way. The best parts of Ghost Stories to me- were well put together, production-wise, and Chris had the very soothing vocals. Basically, as of all later albums, the best Coldplay can do is soothe me. Aside from- Christmas Lights- a little bit of that had swagger- and- Hurts Like Heaven. But neither of those songs matched the swagger that was In My Place. The way Chris was yelling out...in the end of In My Place- I never hear that side of Chris anymore...except on Miracles. It's like he went into that recording booth and just...gave it everything he had. And went to ...another place. But that's just how I describe it.
