  1. It just hit me-in order to celebrate them winning "Best Group", we decide to put up an avatar of...Chris only :laugh3:. Poor Jonny, Guy, and Will. That's fine. We were starting to confuse everyone else here on the boards . It was nice seeing mulitples of that picture, though...
  2. :laugh3: Yeah, 27 is a bit young yet. Just doesn't feel that way some days when I think about things I know about that people younger than me don't! I'd go for Arizona, myself, simply because it has mountains and I can therefore go and at least get my dose of snow every winter. Florida, the chances of snow are pretty slim. Not impossible. But slim. I'm from Iowa. I'm used to snow. What can I say :p? (Hence why this winter's been bugging the crap out of me) An 8 year old coming in this thread would be a very frightening prospect indeed. An 80 year old in here, though? I'd kind of have to cheer her taste and ability to get pervy with the best of 'em . Agreed on your comment about Coldplay's fanbase spanning all sorts of ages. I love the way music can bring all sorts of people together like that *Gets all "We Are The World" for a moment*. And it always makes me smile when I see little kids getting educated in music by their parents, 'cause that's how my parents were with me. I was probably born listening to music, I bet. My parents loved it and passed that love and interest and knowledge on to my sister and me. Plus, my dad was a radio DJ and worked at pretty much every type of station imaginable. So that was a factor, too. Hahahaha, I thought the exact same thing when I was typing that out. I almost did make a typo and forget to put the "t" at the end of "Christ"! You know you're addicted to Chris Martin when... Watching him bend his body like that will never get old. The thoughts that run through my head each time I see him do that... Loved the other pictures, too. Hope the day goes well at your prison-er, I mean, workplace! So, in regards to Row's comment in her post about being surprised at someone focusing on Chris's guitar (which I do agree is quite fabulous-looking, and I want one like it for myself), I would like to continue that thought a bit. I'm sitting here tonight, watching the Brits performance again, bopping along, mouthing the words (really, this performance gets more and more awesome each time I watch it), smiling away and minding my own business and just enjoying the greatness that is Coldplay... [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nT9T2VCv9H4]Coldplay - Charlie Brown (Live at BRIT Awards 2012) HD - YouTube[/ame] ...and then it gets to the 1:30 mark. Let's just say the cameraperson got a VERY good shot at that point and there's a subtle yet nice small bit of wiggling going on there . I dare anyone to try and focus on the guitar after that :D.
  3. Hi, Lisa. I'm Angela. *Waves somewhere in the general northern direction* Ha, you hated them at one time? What a turnaround ! Glad to see you've changed your thinking.
  4. Oh, yeah. You have to have someone around to bring everybody back down to earth and give constructive criticism. They've had their moments of disagreement and whatnot-what band doesn't, after all? But they all seem to know how to work it out. Seriously, as this thread attests, there is a very deep friendship and love between the guys, so as long as that's there, they'll be fine :). You're welcome! Yeah. There's always a chance, definitely. They're still young enough and have plenty of time ahead of them. I feel bad for not saying "Welcome!" earlier, by the way. Hope you like it here.
  5. I wouldn't worry or put too much stock in that :). I've heard he says things like that often, but what he means is that the band likes to approach each album like it was their last. Something about it helping them focus more or whatever. But depending on the interviewer, that can be mistranslated into "This is it! They're done!" Chris often tends to be pretty self-conscious and a bit of a worrywart, so it doesn't surprise me that'd be a fear of his. I think every musician fears that at some point. So I'm quite certain you'll get another opportunity someday when their next album comes out. Sorry you aren't going to be able to see the band this tour :(. I hope you do get a chance again someday. Buying up something else of theirs is definitely a nice substitute. Yeah. I'll poke around and see what's out there.
  6. From what I hear about him that's a pretty apt description . I like how Jonny's head is bent and he's sort of leaning a bit, like he's trying to make sure he's even in the shot :laugh3:. That's an awesome picture. Very cool shirt-I want one now :p.
  7. Got it, then :). Yeah. I'd read something somewhere that put Will as being born in 1977 :p.
  8. Oh, is he? I'd noticed some conflicting stuff on that when I started reading up a bit more, so I wasn't always sure what was accurate. Fair comparison :).
  9. I totally missed that. I'll have to go back and look for that again. The guys being all affectionate with each other will never get old :). Very meltworthy, indeed. I like the pictures in here of Will smiling-he's always got that gruff look about him, he's a bit of a burly guy, and we joke about the "evil eye"-but you know he's a big teddy bear underneath it all.
  10. Indeed. And sometimes depending on the photo it can look worse than it is, 'cause clearly he looked just fine and well at the show, so... Smart move to cut back a bit on that. Nothing wrong with a drink every now and again, but yeah, moderation is a good thing. Just watched the performance again. Wow. It sounds and looks even better than it did on my TV. Just fantastic :).
  11. It's cool, viva, you make a good point :). Everyone's entitled to their own view on the matter. Exactly. Heh. I hear that. He is the youngest of the guys, and the others are all settled down with wives and kids now, so perhaps he figures someone's got to take up the party/dating around flag, right ? Lovely pictures on this page of Guy. I'm particularly fond of the second one, even with all those dark spots all over the picture :p. I like how messy his hair looks in it *Wants to ruffle his hair*.
  12. :laugh3: . I've often thought that, too-given how so many bands/shows/movies I like and men I have a thing for that come from Britain, it's a really good thing I wasn't around in the 1700s. I would've been accused of being a Loyalist for sure . But I can't help it! That area of the world produces so much good entertainment! And so many hot men! I LOVE that photo of Jonny in the red coat. Wow, he looks good in my favorite color.
  13. Agreed. I don't get that unspoken rule, either, I think it's a really strange thing to measure one's fandom by. I know many Americans who have great taste in music *Shrugs*. But again, it's all subjective.
  14. LOL, no, it's not-I'd feel an urge to want to do that, too :D. The shirt sounds cool, I want to see a picture of it! *Thinks to self: I should get a Coldplay T-shirt * I can't see that Chris/Jonny video :(. Says it's "blocked in my country on copyright grounds". Perfect. Ending. That needs to be screencaped and gifed. (That was a really good performance. One hell of a strong stomping beat throughout, and I liked Chris throwing in a swear word at one point )
  15. Yeah, I definitely remember hearing the big singles from that album a LOT on the radio and TV when that album was out. I've lost count of how many times "Clocks" got played. I've only ever heard "Paradise" on the radio here so far. And one time I was in a store and heard "Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall". And that's been about it. I happen to like both their new and older stuff, and have liked them pretty much the entire time they've been around. But I don't get why people who come onboard as newer fans automatically always get sneered at-you can't always help when you get into a band. All That You Can't Leave Behind is what finally made me pay more attention to and become a bigger fan of U2. I'd liked them before then, but it was that album that finally made me want to check them out further. I suppose it is irritating if ALL the newer fans listen to is the new stuff and don't bother to delve deeper, but then again, so what? If it's a passing interest, those sorts of fans will be gone in time and the ones who delve deeper into their work will stick around. And I wouldn't automatically tie radio airplay to Americans' music tastes or lack thereof. What gets played on the radio is more and more decided by corporate interests like Clear Channel, who have come in and pretty much brought up tons of stations and turned them into automated stations. Either that, or they have a small playlist of songs that DJs are allowed to play. My dad worked in radio for a good part of his life, and he had to deal with that crap in more recent years quite often. And unfortunately the playlists tend to consist of the same 20 or so songs-it happens on all sorts of stations now. Even oldies and classic rock ones, where you'd think there'd be the most variety of music. Many Americans don't even listen to the radio anymore, and those that do, I don't think they have all that much control over what gets played.
  16. *Sits here oohing and aaahing at the sheer cuteness* Can I keep him? Please? Those drawings are adorable. LMAO. God bless you for that image at the end *Salutes*. I love the other stuff here, too. You be a funny lot, you girls.
  17. OMG...:laugh3:. You girls. I love you. It is. But we love 'em for it (well, and for other reasons, too, but...yeah). Well, when I typed that it was, like, 5 something in the morning. This time off from work is doing a number on my sleep schedule! And it's very easy to lose track of time when you're looking at pictures of a very hot man. Also, yay, video! Will be watching tonight. More than happy to relive last night's show again. *Covers mouth to contain her laughter so her mom doesn't look at her weird* I like the way your mind works :D. We'll just go start up a retirement community, then :p. Or move to Florida or Arizona or something. That's okay :). Thanks. I'm 27, so yeah, I've got a ways to go yet on that. I'm just so used to being a younger fan on other boards for bands I like, here the roles are reversed and it weirds me out a bit sometimes . Now, see, you tell me to just breathe, and then I see THIS: :stunned: Jesus tap-dancing Christ. *Scrambles to go find that bucket of ice cold water she talked about last night*
  18. That is one of my absolute favorite U2 songs. So beautiful.
  19. Cuuuuuuuuuuuuuute . I want to see that. I agree with you on the picture, too. Yeah. Needs more excitement. (Seriously, woo, rock on, boys!) I was going to say something about how they fit together like puzzle pieces, but lord knows where your pervy minds would've taken that :p.
  20. Someone else here is kindly going to make another avatar for me at some point, too, so once that one comes up I'll change mine, too. I agreed to join in 'cause, hey, now it won't look blank under my s/n for once! And, well, 'cause I liked the picture, too :). :stunned: Worst dream ever. Don't even want to think of that.
  21. *Shakes head* Don't try to fight it, hon. Can't be done. This thread rules. I am laughing my head off right now. Best idea EVER. LMAO  . That's what I was thinking, too. Like the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland. Another excellent idea. ...that sounds less like a theme park idea and more like the start of one of the 'Saw' movies :p. I like the water ride ideas, too. I didn't realize Coldplay had so many water-themed songs.
  22. Great. Thank you :). Agreed. Try running around the way they have been and see how great you look after a while. Did look a bit thin, though, yeah.
  23. *Takes bow* Agreed. I like that we have to explain to people the difference in their outfits. That's hilarious. When my mom commented on their outfits at the show, I found myself having to explain to her the band's unique fashion sense. These are the things that happen when I'm up late and bored :p.
  24. Yeah. Proof positive that we have lost our collective minds :laugh3:. I don't know, but christ, that performance was HOT. 2:08 to about 2:20 or so...yeow. And then later on, too, out near the audience...heh, ohhhh, yeah, I'm quite certain some of those hands probably wound up in some very interesting spots. He's got to be more careful out there, that boy. Excellent performance. I liked whatever the heck it was Chris kept mumbling throughout in certain parts of the song, and I liked the ticking clock on the background, too. It occurred to me, too, watching that, that one day, we could see Coldplay accepting the same sort of award Blur got last night. Which would be pretty freakin' cool.
  25. *Sigh* Long story :D. Check out the Chris thread, go back a few pages and it'll slowly become clear :p. *Tries to see if she can find exact spot where it started* Edited to add: Here you go. Start on this page and work your way forward a couple more. http://www.coldplaying.com/forum/showthread.php?t=77867&page=534
