  1. Interesting to see the varied opinions on "Hoodoo". I agree with dry_pretzels, there's something in particular about hearing that song on piano that really makes it that much cooler (sorta like how I absolutely adore the piano version of "Cave" I've heard, and may actually prefer it a bit more to the original version). Yeah. I've always liked that song, I like how dark and dramatic it is. But hey, to each their own :). Wow. Lucky you. I don't doubt you'd be right about the mob, too . I've not heard anything by Vicky Cryer, you have me intrigued to hear them just to see if they're as crap as you claim they are! But fair enough reasoning-when they tour again you'll have another chance to see them, so... Yeah. I just love that song, it's my favorite off The Resistance, and I'm glad to see I'm not alone for once in this opinion! I don't know why I love that bass clarinet at the end so much. I just do, though. Go figure. First time I heard the song I actually cracked up laughing. But you know, like you said, it's so bizarre and wacky, and isn't that one of the reasons we all like this band to begin with? Because they're willing to try weird stuff like that? I will always admire a band who gives something strange a shot-whether it works for me personally or not, it's always cool to see bands not be afraid to genuinely have fun (which I sometimes think is sorely lacking in rock music nowadays, everyone's trying to be so hip and cool and oh-so-serious) and try new things. Plus, Matt sings in another language halfway through. Come on, how can a girl object to that :p? Megalomania, yeah, if you can work out a cover of that song, share it, I'd be happy to listen to it! ticking_clocks, glad I'm not the only one who noticed the similiarity! This isn't a bad thing, either, mind, 'cause I love that Elvis Presley song, so hey. Haha, nice. Yeah, that can be your song for anyone you hate. I used to think of President Bush every time I heard that song :D. It does. It took a few listens for me, too, it is definitely a "grow on you" type of album. It may also wind up being one that you have to be in a "mood" for, too, there's a few albums like that for me as well. But I do like the album, there's some great stuff on there, and given how odd some of the music on there is, I'm dying to know where the hell they'll go next. The symphony is fantastic. The third part, the "Redemption", that's my favorite section. That piano is utterly beautiful. And I'm kind of a sucker for piano-heavy music. And yay for finding fellow October babies! Quite a few of us here!
  2. *Eyes get wide, coughs* Oh, my...! Um. Ehem. So. Anywho...yeah, I agree about the paparazzi stuff. They can be so intrusive and obnoxious. I'd be terrified to interrupt a celebrity I liked if they were at dinner-I wouldn't want to be seen as one of those annoying people. I'd just simply stand and admire for a moment from a distance, do a little, "Squee, omg, there's so and so!" in my head, and then leave. Right! It's all Chris' fault. If he weren't so damned handsome and talented and nice and funny and smart, none of this would happen! Haha, I kinda want to see this dream scenario of yours! (Course, I'd substitute myself for Salma, even though I look nowhere NEAR as attractive, but...y'know :p) Could he make it as an actor? Eh, it'd be fun to see him try something just for the hell of it, and I'd check it out, and who knows, people can surprise you sometimes. But nah, I agree, I think he's fine right where he is as a musician who creates lovely songs :). Shame that video doesn't have an ending, though-damn cliffhangers! LOVE that soccer photo. Normally I don't care much for sports in general, but I'd gladly watch him play a game or two, yes, indeed (wouldn't dare play myself-nobody needs to see that tragedy unfold, I promise you).
  3. Hm, that's sort of how I feel each time I see those lovely arms of his :D. Yeah! Done right, facial hair can make a man look very distinguished, debonair, all that sort of thing. *Raises her can of pop* Hear, hear! Babble away, it ain't exactly like any of us are going to disagree with you :). "Bizarre" is definitely an appropriate word for that Ash video! Looks like a typical student film. But it's kinda funny, though (rather impressed with the way the bathroom scene with that girl panned out, that was pretty realistic!), and watching Chris get all Sherlock Holmes on us, well, I won't complain about that. I want to know how it ends. And "Lemonentary". Oooooooooooookay, then, Chris .
  4. Gotta try and keep it somewhere on the "family-friendly" scale :p.
  5. That is a very important question, my friend. Yeah. That yoga picture is nice. This is further proof that he's very flexible, you know. Glad I'm not alone :D. I bet he could do a pretty convincing job on it, too.
  6. 1, you have a very lucky friend. 2, October? Ooh, my birth month! Good present for me, then. Yay! Hahaha, I know, the similarity is definitely noticeable, yeah. But yeah, I too would prefer "Invincible" over "It's A Small World". "Map Of The Problematique" is a great song. Kinda Depeche Mode-y. I like the trumpet, too, 'cause, you know, why NOT have a heralding trumpet in a song? It's the same reason I love that bass clarinet towards the end of "I Belong To You". It's just so random. Am I the only one who, when "Soldier's Poem" starts, feels the urge to want to break into Elvis Presley's "Can't Help Falling In Love"? The two sound very similar. I always liken Black Holes & Revelations to a big ol' blockbuster action movie in CD form. "Take A Bow" is great, too-I'm often torn between those two songs as well as to which would make it into my top 5. I like how damning and angry the song is. And "Hoodoo" is just flat out awesome. Another favorite.
  7. Ah. Eh, well, yeah, always cool to see their music on TV nonetheless :).
  8. Hahahaha :D. I'm 5'6". So...that's...a little better. I honestly didn't realize he was that tall. Wow. *Has a sudden urge to want to take yoga lessons* Hehe, I love that. It's so random. And it makes me REALLY want to hear him do "Sexyback" :p. Will have to check out that Ash video after I'm done watching what's on TV here now (which is a pretty depressing program, actually...I'll need something light afterward). I love the beardy pictures, too, by the way. He looks good with a bit of scruff on his face.
  9. LMAO, weird! That's neat. I wish I could see that. Love the nail polish photos, people. Very cool.
  10. Ooooh, yeah, that whole thing is awesome on so many levels. I left a comment about it on there :D. That whole thing from 'Shaun Of The Dead' (or rather, the extra features of that movie, I should say) will never NOT be hilarious/adorable as all get out. Simon rubbing Chris' head and then laying a kiss atop it is the definition of MASSIVE cuteness. (Plus, Simon Pegg and Chris Martin in the same room=very happy me) I also love, "Is everything all right at home, Chris?", and: "This is where Guy stands and looks handsome, and this is where Jonny stands and looks at Guy..." :laugh3: (by the way, I don't know how I missed those gifs of Chris kissing his bandmates, but that's wonderful and sweet and now I'm jealous of men as well as women, so...yeah). And he looks sexy as hell in that interview with the guy with the glasses, the one with the talk about doing stuff under the tree. Dirty-minded boy, that Chris...:D.
  11. Yeah, I'd probably put it at #2 on my album ranking list :). Love "Starlight". Such a pretty song. And "Knights Of Cydonia" just kicks all sorts of ass. The video for it is completely nuts, too, so, you know, there's that as well :D. '"Invincible" actually took a while for me to warm to, but then I saw it performed live and I got a whole new appreciation for the song.
  12. We were promised cake! (as Chris mentioned in that "Jools Holland" interview in the Chris thread :D) I'm doing that, too. I have to leave about 55 minutes before my shifts at work because I take a bus. X&Y would be too long to listen to, but I can easily cram listening to any other Coldplay album into that time period .
  13. I love how he can be so awkward and modest one moment, and then throw out something smart-mouth like, "virgins and coke" the next :laugh3:. Sort of like with the Howard Stern interview. And Chris would be a folding chair? Hm. Okay...
  14. Ahhhhhh, yay for pic/gif/video spams. Lovely stuff, as usual, girls. Wouldn't we all ? You know, if you're trying to get rid of your illness, looking at stuff this hot probably won't help you much :p. Seriously, he looks sexy here. How can one video be so adorable and sweet and yet make me so jealous at the same time? Some women have all the luck in the world. (His occasional laugh during that rehearsal at Ellen's show was really cute)
  15. No problem :). We've all been the "new fan" at one time with some artist, and you don't learn more if you don't ask, right? And a fan's a fan no matter when they get into a band. You can't help things like your age or your location in the world or whatever else. I'd heard generally good things, too, about the Glastonbury shows. Especially Coldplay's (which was, indeed, fantastic-I could only watch via YouTube 'cause I'm not cool enough to live in England and actually go to this festival. But it sure looked like a real good time, and the crowd was incredibly receptive, which always tends to make a band perform that much better). Haven't yet seen U2's set from that festival, I'll have to sit and watch it some night. I'd heard about them doing "Yellow", which is definitely nice.
  16. Aw. Eh, hey, at least you've got some way to hear it, right :)? How are you liking it so far?
  17. Damn, he's got NICE arms. Seriously. Awwwwwwwwwwwww. He does look cute as can be. I want to hug him. And I love that shirt, too. Also...Bono/Chris video "fight" of sorts? Must see this. I'd be happy to, um, referee for them both. Calm them down, and such .
  18. Well, they did record the album in Berlin, so German influence in regards to the title, I'd guess. Why that specific word and title, though, not sure. I'm sure I've heard the story somewhere before, but I'm blanking on it now. As for Adam being naked? Couldn't tell ya. Maybe he just likes the occasional bout of nudity :p?
  19. Haha, SuperFitz, can definitely relate to that, too. The other morning my mom had the radio on in her room, and I was out in the living room, and all of a sudden I was straining, 'cause I was like, "I think I hear 'Paradise' playing... Ooh, it IS playing! Yay!". Then I listened happily. Ugh. Sorry :(. That happened to me in high school. The class ahead of us got a song by one of my favorite artists for their graduation song. When I graduated, I got something by a group (duo? Whatever?) called G Love and Special Sauce, whom I'd never heard of before (and whom I never got to hear, 'cause they never wound up playing whatever song it was at my graduation). Yeah. Sounds like me at another board I go to :p. I feel like I'm at "Cheers" when I go there-"Where everybody knows your name...". *Stands up* My name is Angela...and I'm addicted to Coldplay. *Group in unison* HI, ANGELA!
  20. That ACL show was fun. I really enjoyed watching it on TV :). Now if only I could've actually celebrated the new year with the guys for real...:p. It's so CUTE! Yeah. "Or something", indeed :D. *Stares at gif. Keeps staring. Even when people are waving hands in front of her face and yelling, "Earth to Angela!"* So, yeah, this sentence didn't give me any pleasant visuals or anything. Good to hear you're getting better :). And yay for finding that stuff, hopefully it works as good as Chris claims! And indeed, hard to not be cheered up upon looking at this thread.
  21. Ahhhhhh, brotherly(slashy) love, gotta admire it :D. Comicforce, ugh, sorry you're feeling bleh (seems everyone I know online or off has been falling ill lately. Sheesh). Hope it's the briefest of illnesses, if any, and hope your workday is calm and uneventful. Just remember Coldplay's there to relax ya :).
  22. Ooh, yeah, that's a good observation, postcards. I like that idea. *Starts singing "I Will Always Love You" from The Bodyguard*
