TIMBALAND DID A BASS DRUMLINE. CAN A BASS DRUMLINE RUIN A SONG? Sorry for the caps, but my god, we've heard 7/9 tracks already. If you like what you've heard, chances are you'll like these songs. Vice versa if you don't like them. Besides, if Coldplay are going for the RnB beat, I'd rather a pro do it then say one of the technicians.
  2. Yeah, that's what I think too. Idk what critics are going to say. I think if they can get past ASFOS being EDM, which I think a lot won't be able to, then there will be a lot of 4/5's and 8.5/10's. Definitely a lot of awards for this one though regardless. And I'm guessing a 78% metacritic, not it matters.
  3. They showed a good 2 minute snippet.
  4. I've been listening to O non stop and I'm convinced that this is his best vocal performance. The sadness in his voice gives me chills.
  5. Chris Canada X&Y was the first Coldplay album I listened to as a whole. I had no clue about Coldplay, mostly cause I was like 8, but I listened to it straight, in the car, for the entire trip and I was in love from the start. Every song brings something to the table. Square One, Low, Fix You, White Shadows, Twisted Logic, and all the rest... amazing album. Yeah, some people think its blotted. But if I was asked to take a single song out of the album, I couldn't do it. I love them all.
  6. So is Zane a huge coldplay fan or what? Should we take his "love" of the new album seriously or not. I'm really hoping that critics can jump on board for this album.
  7. I don't like how people say that it doesn't fit with the rest of the album when Chris explained it perfectly. After 7 songs of sadness and low key music, he wanted an explosion to end it off. Think of Oceans, that last line, "You've got to find yourself alone in this world." And then right into ASFOS. And then into Fly On. As a writer myself, its like a story. The climax usually is big.
  8. 1.Fly On - One of the best Coldplay song ever 10/10 2. AIMH - Studio version is so beautiful 10/10 3. Midnight 9.5/10 4. A Sky Full of Stars 9.5/10 - It sounds like a beautiful climax to a sad album. 5. Oceans 9/10 - The studio versions is much better than the live version imo 6. Magic 8.5/10 - Still very catchy after all this time 7. Another's Arms 6/10 - Grows on me. This album just grows. Overall, this album lays on the balance of beating AROBTTH, which is 2nd in my fav coldplay albums behind Viva. If True Love and Ink are 7's or 8's, this album will be amazing.
  9. I don't get the fuss about this song. Obviously this is the climax of a dark album as it turns from dark to light and flows nicely into O, much like DLIBYH did with Up With The Birds. The difference is EDM, which of course, might overtake the album. I expect a lot of critics complaining about this song. The Coldplay hate goes on.
  10. I'm passionate about too many things, but anything that I get to create something, I usually get into it. It was writing novels and short stories first, and then I got into filmmaking. I'm a much better filmmaker than writer though. But I really love music. I just never have the time to learn an instrument, but most of the time, I am listening to music. I also sing pretty well. Enough for me to be in talent shows and what not. Funny thing is that my voice fits coldplay songs well, so I sing them a lot since I know all the words. :D
  11. I like the word anthem for this song. I think when people compared it to Viva, they meant the "bigness" of it. I personally have been listening to the low quality version non stop. I have no shame in saying that I love this song. .
  12. Do you guys think AIMH will be played fully in the background or was it just the promo?
  13. No, i doubt it. At one point, we thought that, but I think the video shoots were for the primetime special.
  14. WHERE DID U HEAR IT *getting ready to set the wolves after you :D
  15. By then, Coldplay won't be in the mainstream and they'll be forced to either retire or go back to alt rock for their hardcore fans.
  16. Yup, Atlas was not that good at all, as well as much of the pop stuff on MX. I think thats why having a minimalist background in GS is so important because it allows us to notice that great Jonny riff or whatever. I think personally that the next album has to be a return to a more AROBTTH style with a modern twist. So we have that to look forward to.
  17. No offense, but have you listened to Oceans, AIMH, or Another's Arms? All three of those songs are guitar based or piano based. I don't disagree with you about going back to a less electronic approach, but they hardly have been "synthesizing everything." You might have been able to make that arguement for MX, but not GS. Jonny has some amazing riffs in this album FYI. GS might have some problems (lyrics for one), but synths is hardly a problem. Also, keep in mind that Ink, True Love, and O are all non electronic songs if what the people who've heard them are correct.
  18. That's good :D tbh, it sounded like u were dissing the entire album, so I kind of was snarky, but I sort of agree with you about ASFOS. I wish they'd try to make their lead single into something more along the lines of a piano ballad. I mean, piano ballads like Stay (lol by Rihanna) and Let Her Go can be #1's. Frustrating, but Coldplay will be Coldplay.
  19. I really want to say that Chris is lowering his standards on purpose but I don't know... one doesn't just start writing badly after Viva and MX (which has some beautiful lyrics in it).
  20. I get what you are saying, but its one song. I mean 5/6 songs (4/6 if u count magic) are all non-pop songs. PoC compared to ASFOS doesn't even compute. So relax and just skip the song :) but dont say they are moving closer to Rihanna when they made a song with Rihanna
  21. Fair enough, I mean a big difference between mine and yours isn't Ghost stories being worse, but A rush being better in your eyes than mine. Personally, Viva has a much higher percentage, but I think magic and ASFOS are the only two pop stuff in the album (which I don't mind), so eventually it will even out to about 78-80 for Ghost stories, at least for what I think u like. All in all, it could be SOOO much worse.
  22. I don't know about that, at least imo: AROBTTH: 87/110 79% Clocks: 10/10 The Scientist: 9.5/10 Politik: 9.5/10 Amsterdam: 9/10 AROBTTH: 9/10 In My Place: 8.5/10 GPASUYF: 8/10 Warning Sign: 7.5/10 Daylight: 7/10 Green Eyes: 6/10 A Whisper: 3/10 Ghost Stories: 49/60 81% AIMH: 10/10 Midnight: 9/10 Oceans: 8.5/10 ASFOS: 8.5/10 Magic: 7/10 Another's Arms: 6/10 Now this is in my opinion of course, but if three songs we haven't heard, Ink, True Love, and O are all relatively solid, then GS imo will be around AROBTTH.
  23. At this point, I don't think Coldplay needs to do it. I think they just need a big hit to make a difference. Magic makes Violet Hill look bad commercially since it charted well in the UK and US. If ASFOS goes #1 like I think it will, then that makes all those magazine articles and european tour dates look small. It's why Viva did so when records dont sell much. With that said, I don't think Coldplay cares much if it beats out Viva or not. This was a personal album for them and I think their nexr album which will be released sooner then later, will be a big return of old Coldplay (not really) but enough to make critics swoon and THAT will be their next big album.
