  1. It's much more cohesive than X&Y, but X&Y have more standout tracks. For me, GS is better because I value the album more.
  2. I see a lot more depth in Viva then X&Y or even Parachutes. Viva, for me, is an amazing journey from beginning to end. And Coldplay is at the top of their game too. Chris wrote great lyrics for every song, every band member was busy. My favorite album by far by coldplay.
  3. Um, actually majority are positive. There are two or three out of seven reviews that are negative, the rest are positive. I think it will be better reviewed then MX and maybe X&Y.
  4. Yeah, imagine if they had just dropped the album without any singles. I think it would have been better received here.
  5. Two new reviews came in, a four star and a 2 and half star. I have a feeling that this is going to be a very split album amongst pretty much everyone.
  6. When I say I don't truly care what critics say, I mean that it doesn't change my opinion. I already said why I do look at critics' ratings, which also is why I made thread - as well to inform everyone of the first review of the album. With that said, I think the way you look about it is something to admire. I personally cannot ignore the good or bad. If I think an album is good, I smile when someone agrees and frown when someone says its bad. If you can block all that, all the power to you.
  7. I don't truly care what critics say. I have my belief about the album. If I went by what the critics said about Viva, I'd think it would be an average album. What I do care about is the appreciation of what I consider to be some fine work.
  8. http://www.nydailynews.com/entertainment/music-arts/coldplay-ghost-stories-transparent-unsexy-review-article-1.1789734 2/5 :(
  9. I don't think Coldplay wants to use stuff from three to six years ago on a sad album basically about a break up.
  10. I dont get why people are comparing this to Viva while everyone is shitting on it. At worst, its still much better then X&Y and the MX. Personally, I like it more than Parachutes.
  11. Probably just a wild guess tbh
  12. You hit it on the head. I think they have one more big album in them... im thinking a return to guitar rock a bit more. But I think this was a great album.
  13. Entertainment Weekly gave the album a B, pretty much saying that it was a moody, dark album, but it is a transition into a new album in 2016. I expected the entertainment magazines won't be big fans of the low key stuff. I have a feeling Rolling Stone Magazine will give it a 4 star, NME will give it a 8.0, and overall, probably about a 75 or 78 percent metacritic rating. http://www.ew.com/ew/article/0,,20816099,00.html
  14. Yeah I'm with you. I'm afraid this album is going to cause a lot of division between Coldplay fans. I, for one, love the use of electric instument. Others don't. I think the one general thing we can all agree is that this album has meh lyrics, but we already knew that from the beginning. I'd say this album has something other Coldplay albums don't which is this dark personality.
  15. Viva La Vida vs. Ghost Stories Round 1: Life In Technicolour vs. Always In My Head Round 2: Cemeteries of London vs. Another's Arms Round 3: Lost! vs. Magic Round 4: 42 vs. Ink (tie) Round 5: Lovers In Japan vs. True Love Round 6: Viva La Vida vs. A Sky Full of Stars Round 7: Violet Hill vs. Midnight Round 8: Strawberry Swing vs. Oceans Round 9: Death And All His Friends vs. O 4.5 to 4.5 - Tie
  16. 0's? Man, u really hate this album :P
  17. I think it is better than Magic with the same chill vibe. Yeah, the lyrics are meh, but idc about that much. This album is very good at pushing lyrics in the background, which is a good thing for this album. X&Y, which also featured meh lyrics, pushes the lyrics at you.
  18. 7.5 out of 10 or maybe even 8. I think critics will see this as a return to form and give it Viva La Vida-like ratings.
  19. Tbh, I don't see overproduction here at all. People are calling this Chris' solo album when all we've heard from the band is that they are more collaborated then ever. So when I hear electric drums and muted guitar, I believe its a band decision not a Chris decision. I think people are slightly overreaching by calling it Chris' solo album.
  20. For me, the only problem is Magic. And tbh, its because I've heard it a billion times. I almost wish they had dropped this album right away. The electric drums dont bother me, because they serve a purpose. Besides, Will probably wanted to go this direction. It's not like Chris told WIll that he wouldn't drum on the record.
  21. For me, its their best album. I am a big fan of this style of music. I love AROBTTH, and so many great songs, but this album tells a story in my opinion that its predecessors didn't.
  22. Final Ranking: 1. O (10/10) - O for me is one of the best Coldplay songs ever, or perhaps the best. It will take time to answer that question, but for now, it is the best closer. Better than Amsterdam for sure. It oozes of emotions and, like the rest of the album, cuts that "fat" that MX was filled with. Fat being unnecessary noise. The lyrics are heartfelt and special, the piano is haunting, and the secret track is beautiful as well. The bang at the end is like the sigh of relief. 2. Always In My Head (10/10) - And this is the best opener. For me, it sets up the album so well. The lyrics are so simple but so amazing. And the music is superb. For me, it beats Politik, not because its a better song, but how it opens and makes a statement. And one other thing about it that I love... its honest. 3. True Love (10/10) - The last perfect song of the album, but by far not the last great song, True love has the best coldplay lyrics I've ever heard. I fell in love with this song when I saw the lyrics tbh and when I heard it done in song form for the first time, I fell in love again. And, of course, the solo <3. 4. Ink (9.5/10) - The music is soooo perfect, the only thing that bugs me is a few of the lyrics, that don't really matter, but separate it from a song like True Love. Its such a happy song and poppy song, but heartfelt and it has a sad core. Chris continues to kill on the vocals. 5. Midnight (9.5/10) - Midnight is lacking in one thing: More lyrics. I wish Chris sang the chorus on more time in the song, but luckily and can click the repeat button. Another chilling song, and I love the darkness of it. So un-Coldplay, but then its like Coldplay to try new things. 6. Oceans (9/10) - The beauty of the guitar and the radiance of the beat of the song is amazing. It's not the catchiest song in the world, but its beautiful, like the entire album. The lyrics are strong too. 7. Another's Arms (9/10) - The studio version added a few things to this song that made it a stand out track. The sadness oozes from the song, and the girl who sings has an amazing voice. Chris supplies one of his best vocals of the album here. 8. A Sky Full of Stars (8/10) - The song is great. Not special, or amazing. And the thing is, it is mediocre to this amazing album. With that said, it serves a purpose as the release. And when I listened to the album in full, it does an amazing job of it. 9. Magic - (7.5/10) - Another great track that is sounds mediocre in the company of such great songs. I really wish Coldplay made Ink as the lead single, or even True Love. Magic put a bit of doubt in the minds of Coldplay fans, that this album would be as it is, but thankfully, the rest of the album is stellar. 92 % compared to Viva's 92%. Its a tie for me, for now.
  23. 1. O 10/10 2. Always in My Head 10/10 3. True Love (only heard live recording, but I love it soooo much) 10/10 4. Midnight 9.5/10 5. Another's arms 9/10 - GOD DAMN AMAZING 6. Oceans 9/10 7. Magic 8.5/10 8. ASFOS 8/10 9. ???Ink??? 8/10 (prediction)
