I came across a cartoon book one day in the bookstore, about a letter of travelling, I guess, half a century (by incidents and all you may or may not imagine to push the letter off the normal track, and the process illustrates quite a few world events as well as daily stories - a nice "design" by the author) to arrive at the receiver's mailbox, while the sender, actually, just lives to the opposite of the street. it is a big metaphor, maybe, or a message.

When you listen to Paul's My Valentine, sth. is till there; When you listen to Eagles' live, it still lives the time/space of California Hotel; even Bob Dylan, when the voice (although some never like his voice :p) changes to be an authentic old man, the Gemini spirit is still there...and we all hope, coldplay would be like that...it takes time I guess, still in the process but in possible right directions. Personality could be changed, by awaress and conscious spiritual practices, or other "events" triggering etc. As in spiritual level (especially in Buddhism), "I" is only an identification by ego level's illusions -- most of our emotions, thoughts, reactions, instintive reactions are confined by/stemmed from the ego level, until the soul wakes up. But this is only my expriences/learnings... a way to reach into your inner depth -- is always being aware of the Reasons/Causes (layer by layer...psychology is one of the layers), till the very original one, which might disclose the truth of life, then we may set ourselves free of this cause/effect net/cycle of reincarnations. No intention to argue, just a bit sharing~ Rumi's poem is a nice description.

wooo, Yellow has such a behind story...maybe the rain means sth. ... that video has a very direct impression on me that would define Coldplay when I got to know them in early days. It is really sad to lose parents at that age (I have a college friend who lost her father in cancer in her twenties and she kept all that rational look, controlling her emotions inside, said many months later that her life could never be the same again afterwards...)...and one can hardly feel those personal trauma/sorrow from the other side - the music is very promising and uplifting, and there is always a happy/joyful aura around the band as if they are so lucky, free of most hardships...maybe it is a blessing and a faith too, and the members are like brothers and shoulders for each, which they value very much from the very beginning, and that makes this shared journey walking further than others. They are always grateful about life's offerings, and this indeed a true fortune for them and for us too. Cancer nowadays is really a threat to many families, but some natural therapies have few side-effects and even some III/IV stage patients have the potentials to survive and recover~ This is a bit off-topic, just noticed that the band members really got married at a relatively young age~

Like in Christa42's recent "revealing" post that, Chris, like other musicians, shared that most of their songs come from a higher place, rather than intentional making process, like channeling those energies into music people could enjoy, connect to, even, feel united and empowered. I guess, it is a matter of time, when you were connected to those energies; and in another, current, or future, the new energies. Listening to X&Y, like taping into that time/space - quite important page of my life. And, as life unfolds, they move on with both music making and personal lives, so as everyone and everything.

I don't know his mom passed away so early, but also, what a blessing for a family with wife, daughter and twin sons:) Nice inspirations for younger musicians, and an important/precious Rational mind to a music band. Sometimes, I think, the drummer in the live need lots of physical energy to fulfill all the beats...it is not an easy labor, like working out in the gym:cool:
