1. I'd definitely appreciate a PM too! I heard one on reddit but wasn't sure if it is the same version or not! Cheers :)

I am glad you like AHFOD and those tracks! If somebody doesn't enjoy something that you do, you should never feel sorry for yourself! After all, I WISH i could enjoy Fun and Army of One -- they just aren't to my taste. I'm jealous that you enjoy them :)
3. Intriguing news... I wonder what he means by 96 mixes? LIke does that mean there are 7 live versions of AHFOD that he's trying to combine? Or is he literally referring to creating 96 mixes tnat they'll widdle down to 15? I really hope we're in a for a huge surprise on this one. Does anyone think we'll get updated "Remixes" of certain tracks? I mean, Coldplay has never really done this, but how cool would it be if we got demos/remixes of album tracks? LIke imagine the alternative, more rocky version of AHFOD, or a way more weird synthy version of Army of One? It'd be bad timing now with the death of Avicii, but I still really want to hear the non-avicii version of ASFOS! Feasibly they could use this live album as a celebration of their career and release a bunch old demos from other eras too!

Agree with Zero. Its such a mid-tempo track that its hard to imagine where it would fit in to a 2-hour setlist. It is shocking that they didn't play it while touring together -- even an acoustic version. I mean Chris came out to do Homesick with Dua Lipa for god's sake. Not to add even more speculation, but I wonder if they just straight up don't get along hahaha. Maybe there's bad blood between her and the band? I'm sure many of you disagree, but I thought her last album was objectively painful to listen to. So it's no surprise then that Fun is my least favorite track on AHFOD, but I could see it being really elevated in a live performance with a more straightforward play style and less schmaltzy production. My second least favorite song is definitely Army of One, and I though the live performences of that were stellar. It's definitely a pity.
5. I don't think LiB will get a live release for one simple reason: they never a got a clean recording! Hahaha By the time they got to South America and played it with the professional sounding structure and the little kids singing "Do to eachother as you would be done," Chris never got the lyrics off clearly. In one version he says "Let the Hummingbirds Blossom, the Hummingbirds Hum" instead of "flowers blossom" hahaha They'd have to heavily edit the live version which would be tricky. Unless they can mix a rehearsel version or something??
6. Just wanted to be the Devil's Advocate here but: This article really has no evidence that something will be announced this week. Seems to be purely speculation. Given the other signs, however, we seem close to something. I'm about to have a long road trip though, so if they decided to drop LiB this Friday I'd be very grateful to have new Coldplay to put on repeat for 6 hours.
7. My predicition is AHFOD Live DVD with a 40 minute documentary celebrating Coldplay's career--like a shorter less produced version of Supersonic, Mat's Oasis Documentary. Also--I can't help but wonder if they re-release Viva La Vida in June with some additional B-sides from the recording sessions??? I mean, we got ALIENS which was technically MX...but still.
8. The 2021 news doesn't mean much. First of all, that could be totally tentative. Second of all, it doesn't mean they won't release music before hand. Remember that Ghost Stories technically didn't get a proper tour, but that was an era that gave us 12 great tracks! Like others have said 2021 might imply that we get a more commercial, big sounding Coldplay release around 2020. But they could release an acoustic EP or album and maybe some old B-sides or do a big rerelease or some collabs. Who knows. With Chris always writing, something has to come.
9. Mylo is very underappreciated. People criticised it for being too clean and shiny at the time, but it really is a unique sounding album on its own. Some of my favorite Coldplay production choices and some of their best songs! People go after it for some reason when GS and AHFOD are objectively pop/vocal/r&b records and MX is actually a rock record... Funny enough though I've never liked Up In Flames. Always thought it was the lowpoint of the record along with UFO for sounding way too sappy and crisp. The piano and guitar almost feel fake they're so clean (for my taste).
10. Black Panther--- 9.7/10 THE HYPE IS REAL! This movie made me laugh, cry, and most importantly, think about important issues in our world. Best Marvel movie by a long shot.
11. ^ I lurked for years before the release of MX and then started posting. haha And no news, other than IT IS happening. The Director has stated on Twitter that they are working on it but completion/release date is unkown. I am not a big fan of LIve Albums myself--but the reason we should be excited is the potential of some more B-sides or unreleased live tracks, like Life Is Beautiful or one of the many other great covers they did on tour. So we'll just continue to play the waiting game, the less you think about it the faster it comes I always say, :)
12. I'm on that Americana/Folk train. Was actually at a brewery last night that was playing lots of modern folk, americana, etc. and Swallowed By The Sea came on fitting right in. Here's why now is the right time: 1. Maybe they aren't in the mood for recording/touring a whole new album cycle. 2. They could just record some old songs that they never put to record acoustically. 3. It would be true to Chris' word about this being a start of a new chapter full of surprises. 4. Critics and Music media would eat it up after AHFOD's lukewarm reception 5. A Moon Shaped Pool was basically an acoustic album and a lot of fans consider it their best. BRING OUT THE ACOUSTIC GUITARS, THE KICKDRUM, THE XYLOPHONES, THE ACCORDIANS, THE VIOLINS, THE MANDOLIN
13. I'd prefer they didn't have a collaboration as a palate cleanser after AHFOD. But any collaboration with Brian Eno, Jon Hopkins, or more production from Markus Dravs is welcome! If they did insist on collaborations, here are some thoughts: Hip-Hop/R&B: The Weeknd does some fairly slick pop songs. Kendrick is obviously the best rapper alive right now. Frank Ocean makes amazing music and has great vocals. SZA's last album was amazing and Chris has praised her before. Migos would be hilarious, why not. J Cole does great socially-minded rap. Kanye or Jay-Z are always great and have worked with Chris before, so that'd be cool. Female Vocalist: Bjork because that would mean atmospheric masterpiece. Lorde is moody and wonderful. Carly Rae Jepson makes pop songs that are pure ectasy. Brittany Howard from Alabama Shakes has PIPES. Alynda Lee of Hurray for the Riff Raff --great band check them out. Julien Baker-- saw her live this year. Wow. most amazing voice I've ever heard, great acoustic songwriting, very depressing. Rock: Brandon Flowers, The Edge, Noel or Liam, DangerMouse (producer), Dave Grohl (why not), anyone from or around Radiohead, Flea from RHCP, The War on Drugs (who hate Coldplay), Dressner brothers from The National, Metallica (seriously Coldplay needs ONE metal sounding song) and who else? Misc: Chvrches,. James Blake,Jason Isbell, Angel Olson, Sigur Ros, Flying Lotus, Thundercat, Massive Attack, Charlie XCX, Sturgill Simpson
14. Because it's taking so long for them to release a live album for AHFOD (every other live album came roughly a year after the album was released), do you guys think that they'll add some bonus content? Obviously we've already talked about the potential of a studio version of Life Is Beautiful, but what about demos for tracks or maybe even some more B-sides from the AHFOD sesisons? The only reason I bring this up is that Chris in an interview with Zane Lowe talked about a song they wrote called Voodoo that he thinks they could never get away with releasing (too political, maybe to innapropriate for young audiences?) But man would I like to hear that.
15. ^ Things I think about. 1. I also doubt they'll make a Grammy appearance. I thought maybe if they released Life Is Beautiful as a Christmas single they could perform it, but that's out of the question now. 2. Sometimes I think this, other times I don't. With any massive tour (which is your job) at some point you have to get sick of playing the same stuff over and over I'd imagine, but some people just don't show enthusiasm the same way. At the Salt Lake City show I went to I did sense the band was largely going through the motions, but did enjoy the B-Stage and C-Stage bits a lot. Like you said, it feels wrong to speculate BUT they also are millionaires and as accomplished as they are, why should they care? That is a cynical view however, and the flip side is that they all really enjoyed the new sounds Stargate brought and had fun translating that to massive stadiums. I personally felt Birds and Up&Up and Everglow were some of their best live songs in a while. Plus during interviews during their final legs they talked about how relaxed it was and how fun it has been to write new stuff! So that's a good sign. At the end of the day, I think of when Chris said around X&Y: "We can't get much bigger, so we got to get better." AHFOD had some really interesting ideas that certainly could have been better, but it just ended up trying to sound bigger. I agree with everything you say though. They really hit some highs over the last 3 albums but each seemed like masterpieces that lost steam somewhere in the recording process and ended up just being good--not great.
16. I hope that the guys find critical and fan redemption in LP8. Let me explain in this ramble... Today I was chatting with some friends, some of whom are super into music, and there was this huge sentiment that Coldplay is overrated and no longer can be considered an important or relevant group. I'm an unabashed Oldplayer, but I listened to AHFOD and GS and MX a million times and really love those albums. Over the past few years when reading the opinions of "experts," I always see lines like "yeah the first few albums were good and Viva was cool, but that doesn't make them as legendary as their influences" And let's be honest, there are big inconsistencies in those last 3 eras. More accurately, there isn't a consensus from fans or critics on whether Newplay is good or not. In a decade will Coldplay be remembered like U2 or Prince? WIll they be seen as innovators? Obviously this has been said a million times before on this forums but.... I still haven't lost hope. I feel like with Kaleidiscope we saw hints of a band that can still make moving rock music. As a Coldplayer, I want them emembered as a band that matches some of the best, not a band that had a good streak and then crapped out in the mainstream (i.e. Maroon 5). I think they could do this by going back to their roots. And yeah, maybe that's been done before and isn't inventive--but I feel this lack of simple love songs with hypnotic piano, guitar, and epic choruses in today's music. Its a formula that has been used since rock music was a invented and yet I rarely hear great, simple rock songs anymore. Rather I find myself being pushed to rap, pop, punk, metal, folk, or other subgenres of rock. If LP8 just stripped away the bells and whistles for pure and simple songwriting, then I think fans and critics would feel refreshed and could come together again. And it doesn't need to be dull, you can still include worldly or classical influences. But maybe some reverance for the soft-rock, post-brit-pop, limestone rock of the early 2000's would be exactly what our pop radio needs right now? And who else to deliver that sweet and amazing nostalgia than the best of that genre? Again, I don't dislike Newplay. Some of their best work has come in this decade, no doubt. But when you listen to Ok Computer or Sgt. Pepper, there is a rawness and energy there that reaches so much higher than AHFOD. And yeah, Coldplay doesn't have the songwriting ability of The Beatles or the talent level of Radiohead. But they do have a special sound that is purely their own. I just want to hear it again in one great album, if that makes any sense.
17. Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Walked out of the theater feeling totally perplexed, like at the end of a good book.
18. :( When asked if there will be any news before Christmas
19. Hey guys.....anybody know anything about this ??? I am a fan of Vic Mensa! But know little about this Mr. Hudson (not from UK). Coldplay is a dumb name for a song haha
20. TITLE: Coldplay (Self-Titled) ALBUM COVER: A plain color or shade, very minimal, with COLDPLAY centered in their original band font. OR maybe there is a simple doodle Chris throws on there. The last 3 eras have had such detailed, eye-popping artwork. AHFOD was especially crazy, so I feel like they'll step away from that. Especially if their next LP is stripped down, (which is my prediction), it would be a clear statement of their intentions and would stand out among all their albums. I could also see the album cover being a photograph, which they've never really done before (save parachtues). Maybe a photo of children, or nature, or something uplifting and sunny. Prediction #2: They release a Christmas themed album out of nowhere this week hahahahaha
21. "Stripped" album doesn't necessarily mean quieter to me, but rather less produced and more raw. I really don't consider GS to be a stripped album because it feels like a modern pop album with a lot of bells and whistles. I consider both Parachtues and AROBTTH to be stripped records, as well as much of Viva La Vida, because they focus heavily on live instrumentation. I would absolutely lose my mind with happiness if LP8 is a folksy album, with only acoustic instruments, violins, and accordians, but I agree with most of you that it's unlikely. I could see, however, an album featuring LiB that also has a lot of tracks with those acoustic sounds, but also songs that could potentially delve into atmospheric shoegaze, indie, straight rock, and sure, maybe a few pop singles. I think this should be considered a serious possibility though, and what JC90 says is absolutely true: Another dance, R&B, pop produced album is not going to be a surprise. An album that completely reinvents or harkens back to an acoustic sound would be. And it would make sense at this point in their careers. When you're a band that's done everything you need to prove to the world you can step it back and make raw, emotional, beautiful music again. That arc towards trendy music since 2011 HAS to end at some point. In other words. Let's just keep it on the C-Stage for this next one.
22. Intriguing that he says "we'll be full of surprises." but as always Chris is the most unreliable narrator. If their contract with Parlaphone is up, I could see them finally starting their own label and perhaps releasing a lot of old unreleased material? We saw that with ALIENS. My other guess is that they drop LP8 relatively soon, and we find out they've been writing and recording intensively during tour. It would be a total shocker to a music media that's portrayed AHFOD as a final horrah. If their live performances and unidentified soundcheck jams are any indication--possibly something very stripped back, more towards their roots, a bit rockier. Alternatively, they could renegotiate with Warner/Parlaphone and release an album that feels like Maroon 5 and Ed Sheeran and make a billion dollars and get a metascore of 53. Really I agree with everyone's statements (which means I'm not taking a stance here). I spent so much time on this forum prior to MX, GS, and AHFOD speculating. I thought MX was gonna be Viva Part II. It wasn't. I thought GS was gonna be Coldplay's Kid A. It wasn't. I thought AHFOD was gonna be Coldplay's Sergeant Pepper's. It wasn't. But who am I kidding. I'll be on here speculating like mad when we get any sort of tease.
23. okay so this is my LAST guess on whenever they're going to release this thing: Wednesday is their final AHFOD show. The last show of the era, presumably. Why not say thanks to the world by releasing a new song and then say it will be featured on an upcoming live album! Brilliant idea Coldplay! Do it! Note: a bunch of KEP songs were released on wednsdays
24. Okay but for real. I have this theory that Coldplay would actually be a fantastic metal band. For other fans of metal out there, the best metal music tends to be slow and build to great melodic crescendos---WHICH IS EXACTLY COLDPLAY's FORMULA. A kinda silly cover band did a metal version Miracles on Youtube, and the riff sounded amazing (the cheesy vocals and numetal percussion not so much) Coldplay has dabbled in virtually EVERY genre at this point (yes, even trap) but has never released a strictly punk/hardcore/metal song. Maybe 1.36 could be considered slightly punk, but not fast enough. Really hope they decided to put one together sometime on a future release. Imma start sending fan mail.
25. ^It was the only moment of the entire game that I was like "oh that's happy" (lifelong bronco fan here having a rough season)
