LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
My best guess: Either we get the single tomorrow November 4th (one month before album). or..... Two more teases of art tomorrow and Thursday followed by a Friday single release. It just has to be. This is the week we have been waiting for since July....and it has felt like an eternity. I am going to savor this :vampire:

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
This art reminds of Kid A but a happy, rated-G version. This new video is fun and I hope that it does express some of the themes of the album (i.e. space, imagination, nature, zaniness) but I really hope none of these elements make it to the album art. I think the flower of life theme with colours on a grainy black background would be really good album cover that offers up pop music/ darker music in equal measure. The elements in this new video are downright whacky. It looks like an exerpt from a children's pop-up book in my opinion. So while some might say psychedelic a la Beatles or Pink Floyd, I might argue this art is actually immature at not very aesthetically pleasing taken as a whole...just my two cents. My theory however is that the flower of life will be the album cover while pieces of this animation could easily be cool art for singles. For example, the kids swinging from planets, in more detail, could be a cool representation of dreams both literally and figuratively (going to the stars). Look at this (similar) art from Pilar Zeta...wouldn't be a great album cover, but add some colour and a kid with the planet I could see a single in the making:

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
That is the question? Is this the final album sleeve? Or rather a symbol that will be prominent throughout the era? I think it would make a fine sleeve honestly. I didn't like GS at first but then I heard the music and it made sense

CHVRCHΞS
I should have posted on this thread a long time ago :) I have been a mega-fan of Chrvches since their first album dropped. Love the new one too. Listened to it way to many times! They sure know how to write a pop song, good lord.

So the Flower of Life is what that is.... and it apparently is a big deal. I can't wait to hear chris talk about this thing :D HAHAHAHAHHAHAHA Oh man. Apparently the circle of life explains everything in the universe--everything is connected. Take this video with a grain of salt, but I found this on youtube. Super bizarre pseudo science spiritual stuff. Totally something Chris could jump onto. Still interesting though

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
So now we just wait for a single and announcement. :D I new light has found its way into my heart. I really was starting to get tired for a while there.... Still, this Lee Thompson guy could be totally full of it when he is saying a new single will drop imminently. Hell, the band could just put up posters and teasers and then surprise drop the album on the fourth sans single.

The Walking Dead
^yeah, unfortunately that spoiler settled it for me. It sure was fun getting to see both sides of the debate though haha. It isn't often something in pop culture like this so fervently divides fans haha

The Walking Dead
So uh......for those of you who have seen episode three. There are a lot of people on both sides of an argument. A big thing happened that isn't very pleasant, but some people are denying it and theorizing a more happy outcome. I am on the latter side. Which side are you guys landing on? Sorry I am vague. I just don't want to post a really really big spoiler haha

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
Other big acts like Arcade Fire did an interactive look around video for a track off Reflektor I think. But it wasn't full blown VR. Kanye did that weird interactive video for Black Skinhead too. My favourite example of an interactive video though is "Look Around" from Red Hot Chili Peppers off their 2011 album I'm With You. I will post a link below for that one. I feel like VR is going to be the future of music videos because frankly, the age of MTV is long over. Unless you are a big name, like Kanye, Drake, Beyonce, Selena, Taylor Swift etc, music videos have a weak return on investment. So I feel the industry is moving towards these simple lyric videos and interactive ones to stay relevant. Coldplay can obviously afford to do anything. I am hoping their new video is truly revolutionary and turns a lot of heads. Sometimes it takes one video for a trend to catch on, and I would argue VR hasn't hit the mainstream yet. Here is Look Around: http://redhotchilipeppers.com/videos/47-look-around-interactive

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
We don't even know if there is going to be a single despite all of these rumors. Just wanted to lay that out there. But I too am getting frustrated. For every week since July, we have had some "solid" rumor about a single that could be released just around the corner. Still hasn't happened. At this point, I don't care about getting a song or an album or even a tease. I am sick of all of this "hype" which is the equivalent of us talking in endless circles. I just want some official word on the album's progress and an expected release date for either the single or entire record That would help ease my impatience considerably.

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
I want to say that I have a good feeling about this week with all the rumors, but no, I can't. I feel like there has been a solid rumor every week since July and we still haven't got anything official, save Amazing Day. Starting to get tired of waiting! Perhaps that will improve the surprise factor. So assuming Amazing Day is on the album, where do you think it lines up? I really hope it is the opening track, and I say that hesitantly because it would be THE WEAKEST opening track ever compared to every other masterpiece. But imagine..If this thing is the opening track, then I feel like it would ensure this is a concept album. That is, you had an amazing day, you are looking at the stars, maybe getting sleepy, really calm and peaceful then BOOM! You are asleep and dreams start happening and it gets weird :D Well, that is my hope. But it is probably like track 4 following three pop explosions and preceding 4 more haha As for this whole Adele thing...I think we can speculate as much as we want but there are folks up-top in the music industry who have known Coldplay and Adele's respective release times for ages. There won't be a conflict, imo. It will be planned out nicely. Coldplay isn't going to hold a song back all of sudden because of an Adele commercial!

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
Coldplay could make a pretty basic album here. I know we all feel really excited about a song that is shocking and really different, but they could just whip out a solid adult contemporary pop rock record hahaha Amazing Day is very pleasant, for example, but little else. Then there is songs like Miracles and Ghost Story which mix around in a pool of very safe, contemporary pop with alt-rock leanings. All I am saying is that they could release an album with a lot of Green Eyes, Warning Sign, Yellow, Ghost Story, etc. Stuff that is really tame, pleasant, and not too ear-bursting. I hope I am wrong, but this could easily be the case. I would argue that U2's last decade has been exceptionally "dad-rock" and Coldplay could certainly slip into that direction. After all, the boys are getting into their 40's and have kids :D

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
^^Seconded that notion. We need to hear the track before judging. First of all, Miracles was close to being a really great song but didn't quite get there. We also don't know if mechanical drums means electronic or just a simple tight rhythm section. HLH has very mechanical drums if you ask me, because they are so repetitive. Remember this could be something completely new! A lot of us predicted GS to sound like Atlas but that wasn't fully the case. When new Coldplay stuff emerges you can only slightly compare it to something else even if it is a completely different song! THink ASFOS. Folks who heard that before all of us said, and I am paraphrasing "it has the most amazing chorus and a huge rock piano hook and Jonny plays a big part!" That of course only turned out to be partially true. The true nature of the song none of us can really predict. If it is pop, so be it, but we don't know if that will mean instrumentally. It is a Coldplay single so yeah, it is going to have a huge chorus and catchy hook!

So Jonny Greenwood (from Radiohead) does some amazing solo work for movie soundtracks. Amazingly talented dude. He is apparently releasing a solo album this fall that is inspired by India, Middle Eastern and other Eastern Music influences. Check out this preview. Huge Indian influence on this thing. I could see Coldplay doing a poppier version of this kind of thing! Damn radiohead :) Always stealing the show with more artsy music.

Amazing Day
That live version though..... Someone needs to take that live version and mix it with the album version! That way you get this amazing live performance with the Jonny's improved guitar and the great atmospherics towards the end. Chris' acoustic guitar sounds loads better live. The album acoustic guitar feels really plasticky for some reason.

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
The silence is definitely for a surprise. No doubt about it. And I agree. If it is a surprise, it better be damn amazing! One advantage to releasing a surprise album is that it forces listeners to listen to the album front to back (for the singles). That way they end up liking the package as a whole and the deeper cuts. But when? Another monday/tuesday have passed without a word...

Coldplay songs - Minus and Plus (Game)
The World Turned Upside Down: + Really good rock song. Love the bass guitar and drumming from Will. Very melodic verses and addicting guitar from Jonny. I also like the background singing on the verse! Is that Will? It is fun. Lyrically I there are great moments. And I like that Chris uses words that we don't usually get in Coldplay songs. Also love the meaning of the song! BUT - I think the vocals are a bit annoying on the chorus and a bit too mopy (like much of the x&y era). Plus parts of the songs feel really childish. He is basically just saying "wow all these things are so crazy. I don't get it. I am just a little boy lost in a storm. but I am in love with somebody too?" The sentiment is great but it is not very poetic.... NEXT UP: Don Quixote

The Walking Dead
FTWD was okay... I liked the slowburn approach and some of the really cool character moments, but yeah, it doens't feel special. Plus the poor writers are having a hard time keeping a narrative that actually makes sense... I mean Travis literally flip-flopped his position on everything throughout every episode and that was super obnoxious. Character Logic: All of these innocent families are going to die in the morning, but since they didn't help us when the military came, let's not warn them. or I have been bit. Kill me. "no!" please, i know you don't like me anyways "okay" :stunned: The ending for me was meh. They were trying so hard to make it epic and beautiful, especially with that amazing Antlers song Kettering, but it felt so cheesy haha. I went from like OH SHIT THAT IS SO SAD to laughing in about two seconds when that actor was trying to cry on the beach with his wife putting her hands all over him.

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
^I am certain it is true coming from Rik, but that doesn't define what "input" is. I think GS is an example of an album that was overproduced but not from the likes of their producers, save Avicii. The contributions of Madeon, Timbaland, and others was VERY slight. Rik probably had more influence. So Stargate's contribution could literally just be advice or maybe a single, minuscule sound in a song. We just don't know. Either way, I think we can expect even more producers on AHFOD that we aren't even considering. Only time will tell. At the very least we know Rik is there and probably Dan Green too, which is a good sign for oldplayers.
-
LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
HAHAHAHA Okay, Stargate deserves crap. But the truth is we really don't know what them working with Coldplay involves. Producing is a term that can mean a lot of things, from completely writing a song, to just adding a small element (i.e. Timbaland added drumbeat in True Love), to just offering advice in the studio. With a band like Coldplay and a songwriter like Chris Martin we know that Stargate isn't writing songs, they could just be offering up some advice, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. So lets not fret. I too was hoping that they only were involved with a single or two, so Rik's answer of "Loads" is disappointing, but once again, we have to HEAR THE MUSIC FIRST. Okay, 3 Good Songs by Stargate: I personally like the following, but they are completely different genres from what Coldplay does so....... I actually like other Rihanna songs too, like Rude Boy, Don't Stop The Music, Only Girl In The World (they did those) This one is damn catchy, and guess what--------Indian Influences?? But yeah, Pop. Simple cleanly produced pop. And Stargate started in 1997 and arguably has not been able lose the really cheesy high pitched synths that was popular in "urban" pop in the early 2000's...

True Believer - feat. Chris Martin out now!
That poor verse............ the song is a decent EDM song with a solid chorus if it wasn't for that god awful verse.....what a pity. I actually liked the first version and Heaven. I am not a huge fan of Swedish House, but I totally see the appeal. There is just way better dance music out there.

Pet Peeve / Top Hate about a Coldplay Song /Album / The Band Itself, And Why?
1. That they haven't unleashed their full creative potential--musically and lyrically. They have experimented so many times to create some amazing alternative music but very rarely have we got to hear that, instead they have become more concerned with making the perfect pop song...which leads me to... 2. Not releasing demos and b-sides. Total bummer, some of their best work is undoubtedly locked up somewhere. 3. Not giving Will and Guy more chances to blossom. I want a Coldplay Folk album with Will on lyrics. But they will never do that :(

What's the best time to listen to...?
HURTS LIKE HEAVEN!! GREAT DRIVING SONG! So my perfect memory for this song was in Novemeber 2011. I was just settling into the album and went out on a date with this girl I really liked at the time. I nervously asked her out (to be my girlfriend) and she said yes with great enthusiasm! As I peeled away in my car the sun was just setting over the brightly colored autumn leaves and I was ecstatic! I floored it and turned up MX/Hurts Like Heaven!!! Been dating her ever since and still one of my favourite Coldplay songs!

Amazing Day
It would have been great to get a studio version right after the performance.... I like the song, but I wish it was called Drift instead, does anyone think that this maybe was Drift? The best part of the song is when Chris says "and your eyes..they're drifting away.." I almost would have liked the chorus to be "Drifting Away...."Drifting Away...." Once again, I like the song, but Amazing Day isn't a great title or chorus at all. When someone says amazing I interpret it as WOW THAT WAS AMAZING. But the song is too mellow for that. Chris could have found a better word.

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
Pretty bummed Lamhein was a bust :( I was super excited about the potential Enoxification/foreign feel to that track :\ Now Amazing Day is probably locked in for the album. This kind of tips my expectations the other way. I think Amazing Day is a fine track, but it doesn't wow me, and I also think the title is crap. The battle in my head is this: Will the album be all a bunch of Amazing Day and Sunshine Brightness and Horrays? That would signify poppyness and more of the cheesiness of Amazing Day. Or will it actually have some really interesting tracks that have strange titles and diverseness to them like Lamhein would have, signifying some more alternative tracks? Right now it seems the latter is winning out, but of course that is just more speculation.
